Moved to Kyle in 1992 after completing a 6 year enlistment in the Air Force at Bergstorm AFB. We had about 2000 people living in the Kyle area. Today we are around 70K.
OH man I'm hungry now. I love in Japan but bought a house in San Antonio 2 years ago. We have only been to our once last year for a month. Haven't had a chance to explore Texas and the food yet but can't wait.
This guy was sitting behind me at the Texas vs Rice game a few weeks back. Told him I loved the show when I was leaving. Nice guy, he was wearing a day tripper cap. Dead giveaway
Chett, you usually say when you v3nture out of the local town and into a surrounding area. I may have missed it but the Flying Armadillo and 5 Mike Dam are both in San Marcos. Hays City Store is closer to Driftwood. Great that you went to these locals but give credit where credit is do.
Do not waste your time at the Texas pie company. We traveled over 4 hours to visit over spring break. We checked the hours, and they did not close until 6 pm. We arrived around 2 pm. We were planning on having lunch and a delicious piece of pie. However, they were not serving any food. Only cold pre-made sandwiches. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. The seating area was small with very little room. Even though we were disappointed, we still wanted to try the pie. They do not serve pie by the slice. Their personal size pie is smaller than a banquet pot pie and cost $6. All their pies on display look like a third grader made them. We were so disappointed and ended up eating a couple of towns over.
I live like 10 mins ago from this place. I love their pie, the staff is always nice… I never had a bad experience in this place. Also their cheesecake is AMAZING!!! Maybe you need to give them a 2nd chance, but call them ahead just in case 😉
@@RebecaAnaisRoth why would I call ahead? I may give them another try, but we already made a special trip there just to try it. I am not going out of my way for a business that could not be bothered. Nothing depicted in this episode was right. Their staff was rude. The seating area was tiny. They refused to serve any food. The few pies they had available looked like they had been dropped or made by a blind four year old. Nothing was available by the slice. The prices were way too high for the apparent quality. The one good thing was, it was a nice drive there.
Kyle, Texas is one of these little Austin exurbs that attracted the UT grads wanting to start a family and keep the “big little town in Texas” feel but are fleeing the damage done to Austin from the Californian locusts. Buda’s like that, too.
@@pn3940maybe, maybe not. I have a lot of very progressive friends down here who feel the same way about the area and it has nothing to do with maga. I’m indifferent but I do lament the loss of nuance and rushes to label everything.
God i forgot places like that exist to go break stuff. And this one isn't far from me at all. Definitely gotta go to uncharted adventures to let off some steam lol
I'm Texan and I've never seen any one in texas wear this type of hat. It looks as if it's a Cuban derby type of hat. Maybe those guys out in Austin may wear that type, you know artists, musicians etc.. but your average Texan man wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Wow! Do you still enjoy Kyle? Does it still have the small-town feel?
Chet, how are you not 400 lbs!!!

I love my hometown
The Frisbee game, that's sounds like fun to play with 😊

@@bmoturtleco, I’ve been there several times. They are rude.

I love the pie lady ❤
Awesome episode! Thank you so much for letting me tag along. 💜

Great show thanks so much for this
He's just a lovely dude 😎
Yep..Kyle. know it well
I used to live 2 mi from Hays City store. ✌️🇺🇸
Nice truck. We’re going there tomorrow now lol. Not far
Those pies looked good. My wife is the baker so during the holidays she makes so many pies I get sick of them by January
When are you going door to door spring branch loop?
Come to Alvin, TX!
the ''Rage fest'' was killer. Cracked me up
Growing up in my family that was a Saturday night. We had an old Ford escort that ran for a year then became the recipient of our rage for a decade
PIE!
Too expensive of a CFS for me! @ $25.00 looks like a cool place though
Worth it!

Here's pie in your eye.
I like Pie
What's she meant making the pie not eating it😂
What kind of hat is he wearing? Only Texan men seem to wear these.

Looks to be a straw Homburg, maybe. Given its German origins and this area's proximity to Hill Country, it doesn't seem out of place at all ☺️

Buy the pie tho
