Love all your travels but right off the bat the casting and pouring of that statue must have been a nerve racking time for the creator that's a lot of detail. Great trip Mr. Russ👍✌
I drove over Monarch Pass three years ago. It had just started snowing and signs said to put on chains but nobody did. A big rig jackknifed. I saw my first mountain goat right beside the road. A real wild road trip. Be prepared.
Just watching that drone shot of the river running through the mountains brought tears to my eyes just seeing how beautiful it is ❤ love seeing these magnificent places , thank you...and bet that water was cool as they was on those rafts riding the rapids!😂
Hey Russ I swear about 20 minutes earlier watching your Highway 50 through Colorado video I said to myself I wonder if you would ever install a side camera on your van no sooner had I continued to listen you mentioned how you said I guess I'll have to install a side camera on my van haha. It's like you're reading my mind over here in Oregon what a great video this has been
My home country......i grew up and lived in this country my whole life.....they expanded that museum a whole lot.....Poncha Springs (cemtery) is where most of my elders are buried..my family had the Jackson Hotel for a while.........Golden Valley is gettin nice and warm this week with good rain....thx Russ
I was born in Canon City (pronounced Canyon). The Royal Gorge bridge is home turf. I have walked across it before it was anchored to the canyon walls when it really swayed. I rode my Harley across the bridge in2006. I took the train through the gorge in 2022, then took the helicopter tour over it later that day. My grandfather died in an avalanche on Monarch Pass in 1953.
Before we retired we bought a beautiful 65 inch Sharp Aquois. Your videos are filmed in such high quality ,we enjoy them in our living on the week ends. Thank you for filming these, keep them coming !
I lived in Colorado. Most of my life black forest Colorado never went to Gunnison, but that museum sure looked cool. I enjoy watching your channel and riding along with you looks fun. I like your laugh. I'll Keep watching
I went rafting down the Arkansas River in the exact area that you made videos of. It was great but I got sunburned really bad. It was worth it nonetheless! FYI - general admission tickets are $ 29.00 if purchased online.
The museum’s is unbelievable especially the town and all of the collections in each building. Just amazing video of so much interesting things. I will watch it again😅
My favorite drive in Colorado is the drive from Interstate 70 up to the top of Mt.Evans. I have not yet tried a similar high altitude road up to Pikes Peak but the Mt. Evans route is not open year round & since I was on it last one has to register ahead of time due to the high volume of traffic, I presume. Also the Mt. Evans highway is seasonal & only open (above Summit Lake) between Memorial & Labor Day. At least this was the case some 14 years ago but times have changed even the name, which is new to me.
Thanks for the ride along. Beautiful state. Went a few yrs ago to Denver, Loveland, Ft Collins, Rocky Mountain National Park areas. Great Main Sts, museums, and historical areas. 🙂👍
Seeing that big wide main street in Gunnison reminded me of a little town I lived in for a while as a youngster. The town of Oamaru New Zealand dated from the mid 1800s and the main streets in those days were made wide enough for a Bullock Train to be able to turn around. Then I saw the NZ flag in the car section of the museum...
Google says this bridge is 955' and New River Gorge is 876.' Only a 79 foot height difference. The Royal Gorge has nice landscapes but, the New River Gorge landscape is just breathtaking. For those of you that have never been on or across it, know that it is a part of U.S 19. The first time I went across it, the only way I knew it was because, the only thing I could see was the road in front and sky. I've been across it in a car and smaller suv and tried to see trees or something, nope. I don't take anything away from Royal Gorge but, if I could only experience one or the other, it would be New River. From the overlook, which should be called the underlook, which is about 600' higher than the river, you look up and see this dark menacing structure almost 300' feet higher than where you're standing, seemingly growing out of all this greenery. Its just a mystical setting.
Definitely a bucket-list destination. You pick all the kinds of places I'd want to see Russ. No interest in cities. As @akgobears mentions below however,..the mountain passes have me wondering about the state as I haven't been there since I was little and don't remember it. Our little toyota rv doesn't care for long mountain passes much. It's not just the lack of power - it's the overheating. Lots of mountain passes out west along with hot days. To be honest, it's taken some of the fun out of rv'ing for us in the past. Not buying another motor! Super bloom! Blooming on the west coast has begun. No poppies just yet but just spotted lupin along hwy 1. Mountain-biked through lavender colored chaparral terrain yesterday, (buck brush and blue blossom/california lilac ),. Got wet in spotty rain. In fact it rained off/on all night and this morning. More to come later in week. Not sure if it'll hit the desert. Another good one. Cheers. 👍
I love your videos Russ, I've been watching for years. Kindly tell me what the attachments are that are on the outside of the rear end sides of the van from top to bottom?
I just found you and ❤ your videos already!! Do you always travel alone? I have always wanted to do what you’re doing, it’s a perfect way to make new friends 😊
Love watching your videos - thank you! Can you share when you traveled through this area? I'm planning a roadtrip to Colorado from California and currently Hwy 50 is closed at one of the bridges between Montrose and Gunnison.
Russ beautiful trip. ? On the GoPro do you need several battery packs for filming, or usb plug in. Also understand can’t mute filming. What edit software do you use to talkover. Thanks
three 👍👍👍 I don't like museums in fancy sterile buildings. Gunnison Historical Center, Pioneer Auto Show in S.D, Van Horn's in N.D., Cloud Museum (Ford Model A / T & misc Americana) in Bard, CA are places I want to experience!
Russ could you guide me to learn more about your van? You said its 24' long & capable of 21-22 mpg, if you keep it under 70 mph. What year & cost is it? Did you purchase it in arizona, or did you travel out-of-state, because a better price was found? Thanks for your time, & what you do Sir. 🙏🦉 🏞️
I love his video so much but once in a while, he doesn’t get the names right we had a ranch at the on the divide above Montrose and also had a home earlier in Olathe. I sure miss living there. I’m stuck here in the mountains in California but I sure wish I could move back home. good job. Good job. Ps , Ouray is ( O )silent ( Uray ) !
Mon-trose!! 😂 Of course this is coming from an old “Calllrado” or “Callrada” Springs kid that has lived in “Hurrakin” Utah and now lives in “Preskitt Airzona”. 😂
Love your videos. My dad on hospice and he watches your videos all day long. Thank you!
Tell Him hello and Thanks for watching

When you go again to Colorado go to Daniel’s park in highlands Ranch. There’s buffalos in that park.

According to the Bureau of Reclamation, the Blue Mesa Dam was constructed between 1962 and 1966, and is 502 feet tall.
Why don’t you show the RV parks you stay in, as a RVer I might want to stay if I had a on-site vew
i drive portions of hwy 50 daily.
Is 50 a scary drive, such as cliff edges and no guard rails, similar to the road from Silverton to Durango?😊
You're lucky you're not trying this trip now -- the bridge across the reservoir has been closed because of cracks discovered in the beams!
