If you're booking your journey in advance then buy your tickets directly on thetrainline.com for example.
If you buy the pass and use it to make early reservations (as the eurail advises on their website) the overall cost of the pass+reservations will be more than buying tickets directly, plus, you will be treated as a suspect second class citizen with your reservation marked as "Must Show Pass". Another cons to Eurail/Interrail pass when making a reservation is that you have no way to choose your seat. I was always attributed the worst seats when I used it : usually in the 4-block seats facing strangers (often families with children).
If you try to use the pass few days earlier to your journey on high speed trains in Europe, well it says No Seats Available for pass holders. So in all cases the pass isn't worth it neither when booking early nor lately.
My advice is to book the tickets for all your journeys in advance while having a complete control on your attributed seats and saving money.

I have been to Europe and believe you me there is no other place on earth that is more developed than that. A train going up a mountain, I think they call it a cog wheel train, where else do you get that. I was on it to the top of the Alps.
Love Europe, done the eurostar few times from Brussels to London and London to Paris, love it , I have had the pleasure to travel to almost every country in Europe and looking for my next trip in july.

Thank you for this video. I began to love traveling by train instead of being on airplane when we traveled all over Italy in 2022. It was simpler, less of hassles. This is what I will do when I visit my friend in London, then to Paris and other countries in Europe.

How come you don’t you travel? I suppose it’s easier for us brits lol as we have Europe on our doorsteps but somewhere like South America is in reach of the US I’m sure
@@rkb654idk about them but my family doesn’t travel either because we live in Australia so it’s very isolated and the only country to really go to are New Zealand which is pretty much just a crap version of Aus and Bali. we don’t even have passports not to mention it’s so expensive
190 mph? Wow! The Euro-tunnel trains go even faster now than they did in the late 1990s when went on them. It took 3 hours from London to Paris then, and I remember them saying that the trains went 130 to 140 mph (and I thought that was fast then!). Now it takes 2 hours 15 min and they go 190 mph
The trains always were able to go 185-200mph, but in the 90s and early 2000's prior to HS1 being built in the UK trains ran super slow. Wasn't until till on French high speed lines and able to go full speed. This knocked around a hour on the london to paris time.

When the high speed line opened the speed increased and journey time decreased, I use it of a semi regular basis to travel to London, past Stratford where the 2012 Olympics took place.
When I used it a few months ago; it only took 1 hr 40 min.

When you exited the station in Paris, even with the rain, I got that exhilarating feeling of being in Paris again. I hope to visit there this year, even for a few days. I adore Paris. I'm in Tbilisi, Georgia today.

I remember going here when I was 8 years old, came to the station before sunrise like at 5 AM I believe and barely anyone was there came to Paris on a rainy day. Very memorable

I took the Eurostar from Paris to London in 1993, it was comfortable and satisfying ride all the way.
that must have been difficult considering the Euro tunnel didn't open till 1995.

there is also a maintenance tunnel, which maintenance and engineers from UK and France drive through in cars etc, it is also the escape tunnel and is connected to the train tunnel
I've taken this trip a few times, it is very good and in 1st class the meals are included in the fare - also there is a service to take cars though the tunnel, also very good, passengers remain in their own car. Note the speed limit on the roads in France is 130kph or 80mph, drive at 90mph and you'll get a speeding ticket (personal experience confirms this!!) Still faster than the UK and USA
Not true we drive 90mph in Florida all the time and still get passed by others.
I travelled first class 2005 but I have been on the economy several times and its fine 🙂
