Thank you for this video. I began to love traveling by train instead of being on airplane when we traveled all over Italy in 2022. It was simpler, less of hassles. This is what I will do when I visit my friend in London, then to Paris and other countries in Europe.
I’d like to thank you for keeping me and my family sane for a bit. When COVID first started, we all caught it and got pretty sick. We used to watch you and other walking tours in quarantine and pretend we were on vacay. ❤️ from NOLA
UK is definitely a traveller’s dream come true because it is the hub of all travels within Europe. Thank you for the excellent in depth review showing your journey using EuroStar. Something I will consider next year when travelling to the UK.
Europe is definitely not ‘heaven on Earth’ but I guess it’s better than some places. Definitely not as bad as this prick who replied to you tried to make out though. Get on with your life and ignore people like this who have prejudice and hate in their veins. Come to Europe man, you’ll love it. Good luck.
I have been to Europe and believe you me there is no other place on earth that is more developed than that. A train going up a mountain, I think they call it a cog wheel train, where else do you get that. I was on it to the top of the Alps.
190 mph? Wow! The Euro-tunnel trains go even faster now than they did in the late 1990s when went on them. It took 3 hours from London to Paris then, and I remember them saying that the trains went 130 to 140 mph (and I thought that was fast then!). Now it takes 2 hours 15 min and they go 190 mph
The trains always were able to go 185-200mph, but in the 90s and early 2000's prior to HS1 being built in the UK trains ran super slow. Wasn't until till on French high speed lines and able to go full speed. This knocked around a hour on the london to paris time.
When the high speed line opened the speed increased and journey time decreased, I use it of a semi regular basis to travel to London, past Stratford where the 2012 Olympics took place.
When you exited the station in Paris, even with the rain, I got that exhilarating feeling of being in Paris again. I hope to visit there this year, even for a few days. I adore Paris. I'm in Tbilisi, Georgia today.
I remember going here when I was 8 years old, came to the station before sunrise like at 5 AM I believe and barely anyone was there came to Paris on a rainy day. Very memorable
How come you don’t you travel? I suppose it’s easier for us brits lol as we have Europe on our doorsteps but somewhere like South America is in reach of the US I’m sure
@@rkb654idk about them but my family doesn’t travel either because we live in Australia so it’s very isolated and the only country to really go to are New Zealand which is pretty much just a crap version of Aus and Bali. we don’t even have passports not to mention it’s so expensive
I love London. I'm not big on walking but it's easy there. I wish I could have taken more than one train while I was there. Maybe I'll live there in my next life.😃🤞
Hello thanks for sharing your trip it bought back memories from our time out there from St Pancras to Paris, we had a fab break and did lots of walking.take care Simon and Beth ❤
Hi there great video. I have done ✅ once London Amsterdam and really loved it. I have booked a round trip Amsterdam London but had to cancel it twice because of the pandemic 😷 I am hoping to go at the end of March fingers crossed 🤞. Best regards from beautiful Amsterdam. Happy holidays.
Thank you for sharing this, going to London in May and a Paris day trip on the train. Never traveled on anything but a plane that went this fast. Going to be quite an adventure for me. But at least I'll know what to expect now. 😊
I've taken this trip a few times, it is very good and in 1st class the meals are included in the fare - also there is a service to take cars though the tunnel, also very good, passengers remain in their own car. Note the speed limit on the roads in France is 130kph or 80mph, drive at 90mph and you'll get a speeding ticket (personal experience confirms this!!) Still faster than the UK and USA
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Very informative video! An American in London currently and looking to take a train into France (I avoid flying when reasonably possible). So glad the majority of COVID travek bans are over!
8:55 I wondered approximately how long the train is in the tunnel for after seeing the route map from London to Paris. Must be fascinating to experience. I might give it a shot one day
They have it all sorted now, but when it first opened the darn trains used to break down in the middle of the tunnel. Now I bet that was a right blast lol
there is also a maintenance tunnel, which maintenance and engineers from UK and France drive through in cars etc, it is also the escape tunnel and is connected to the train tunnel
Thanks for the tour. I have seen many such walking tours and have one quibble: they all have audio. Yet I have NEVER heard a camera-wearer say "Excuse me" or "pardon me" or "please" or "thank you" (e.g., served a meal on the train). I hope all you tour guides are more polite when off-duty.
It's so nice that travelers have the tunnels and the European Union now. I was in Europe during the 1970s while serving in the U.S. Air Force and my trip from London to Paris required a taxi to the airport. Checking in through customs. Plane flight to London. Taxi to hotel in London. I'm tired just thinking about it! It was weird too because the flight was on a nearly empty 747 and while the trip took many hours, we were only in the air 45 minutes!
Been there as well, But in that time it wasn't though At Pancras St ( I traveled though it as well with my husband and children to the north) it was back then through bus and then ship, Amazing trip!
This looks like standard premier class (economy plus) rather than First class on Eurostar. First Class passengers get access to the Eurostar business lounge and a bigger meal etc.
Agreed. Eurostar don't use the terms 1st class and 2nd class and this video incorrectly conveys the impression that the trains have 2 classes, 1st and 2nd. The trains offer business premier, standard premier and standard. I have not travelled aboard Eurostar for some time, but I suspect that this is standard premier due to the lack of any lounge visit or mention of a lounge and the meal. In these Covid times you can never be sure about the meals but I am pretty sure that is a standard premier and not a business premier offering.
@@Ben-xe8ps yeah. The other three giveaways is he checked in at the standard class area, he was seated in coaches at the back of the train, and the meal had standard premier written on it. For those that don’t know standard premier and business use the same coaches and seats. The difference is business gets access to priority checkin, lounge access and the meal is of a higher standard, and been a while since I’ve don’t the trip but the meal was hot in business. And as mentioned above Paris bound business used the coaches at the front of the train standard premier at the rear.
I rode Eurostar in 2010 though not in First Class. I remember it being a very smooth ride. I liked the fact the border stuff was handled before departure on both ends. But I also remember being just a bit put off by Gare du Nord, even if I can't for the life of me recall why.
