When DT was opening for Yes, probably years before this, they had MM in the set. The audience was stunned either by not recognizing the song and thinking it was some new DT stuff or stunned by actually hearing it at a Yes concert (Drama being a redheaded stepchild of Yes' past)
If it was when they played it when they opened up for Yes then they most certainly did. Plus I think a lot of DT fans are Yes fans. Both are prog bands after all.
@@getlost8027 Actually, no. This was the same show I was at. If you see above it says Sept. 3rd 2004. That's when they did this. I don't think DT did this later on by themselves although I suppose it's possible.
This concert was the first time I saw DT. Sat right up front. This song especially blew me away. One of the most memorable concert songs in my life. They should have done the whole thing with lyrics.
Awesome outstanding somebody finally we did one of yesterday's greatest songs I love the drama album I seen that tour fantastic thank you dream theater
This is the first time I've ever listened to DT, heard about them years ago but never checked them out till this video. Wow, better do my due diligence on DT!
Thats awesome that they covered Machine Messiah. Way overlooked Yes song/album. Not really Yes kindof an entity in and of it self somewhere between 90125 and Asia, only way heavier.
The vocals are spot on
Nice one
This is the show when they opened for Yes in 2004. I was there. It made sense for them to do this cover.
Probably most people on the audience did not know the song ^^' One of my all time fav songs!

They played this when opening for Yes so of course most in the audience knew it.
By far the music of yes is better known than that of dream theater,
:)
I think this is actually a prog-metal song, even the Yes didn't know it. :)
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands.
I think that you need to listen to the Yes original version of this song to appreciate what a great job DT make of this cover.
Donde esta el boton dee Mega LIKE !!! ????
Una de mis bandas favoritas tocando una vrdadera obra maestra !!! lml !!
This song is mentioned in Full Circle in Octavarium (where I first heard of it).
DT + Yes = EARTH WINS!
!!!!PROG & ROLL!!!!
Chills at 2:40. I love Yes. DT is such a great follow up to prog music from the 70's. Great post!

Yes it is JP and an awesome concert with the DT and YES combo!
Awesome outstanding somebody finally we did one of yesterday's greatest songs I love the drama album I seen that tour fantastic thank you dream theater
there is an old 90s video of them doing this with steve howe.
Saw this performed Live in AC. DT opened for Yes and blew the crowd away with this!
I was there too..blew us away!!
Would love to hear them do the whole thing

Wickedly good!
Very Nice . a nice musical rendition

Hmm...I wouldn't mind seeing a Yes tribute album with DT playing this song.
Efectivamente el disco Dramma para mi que soy YES fans me parecio una de sus grandes obras ,me choco mucho el infantilismo y el maltrato que le dieron a Trevorn Horn en los directos de esa epoca,el albun es una maravilla ,
@kennethelp Yeah you're right. They should've covered Heart of the Sunrise or Starship Trooper. Oh wait! They actually played those with Howe!!!!
Theyn played this with howe too in the 90s
Is that John Putrucci on guitar?

I think Only Matter of Time influenced by this (Machine Messiah)
Back in the days when rudess didn't have that ridiculous beard.
Eu te amo DT.
is there a soundboard recording of this ?
did they ever record this cover on any of there albums
This sucks since bassline can barely be heard, despite it's just essential.
but this is a bootleg ..... asshole
Der Gitarrist macht einen viel besseren Job als Steve Howe
Why is the guitarist always staring at his left hand? Doesn't he know where the strings are by now?
why shouldnt he be staring at his left hand?
Cause it's Steve Howe's guitar playing!
@@anthonydevito9423 That’s disrespectful to the goat John Petrucci.
@@jacobpullen6949 ...not really? It was a joke, and Howe is one of Petrucci's GOATs.
