- The Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macau Bridge is a giant transport complex, including a group of bridges and underwater tunnels, that cross the Pearl River and connect the main cities of the gerion: Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao. It is a 55-kilometre (34 mi) bridge-tunnel system . It is the longest sea crossing and the longest fixed link on earth.

0:11 William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge Spanning the Chesapeake Bay in the US state of Maryland near Annapolis. The down stream bridge (nearest the camera) is 2 lanes and was opened 07 30 1952. The up stream bridge is 3 lanes and was opened on 06 28 1973. Both spans are reversible to accommodate peak travel direction and to allow the closing of one of the spans for maintenance. Main shipping channel is crossed with suspension spans (not pictured) of 3,200' (975 m) with a vertical clearance of 186' (56.7 m). The secondary channel is crossed with through truss cantilever spans of 775' (236.2 m) with a vertical clearance of 58' (18 m). The overall length of the 2 bridges are 4.33 and 4.35 miles (6.97 and 7.00 km), the longer one being the down stream 2 lane bridge.

The bridge itself is safe to drive on, but still, there are problems to solve. Whoever built the first of anything in this world would have the most challenge to solve but will be the leader in its class for years to come.
