I so agree with the first take. The problem with Akshay Kumar is that he refuses to listen to criticism and treats it like hate. He refuses to treat filmmaking and acting like art. Art needs inspiration. He's just stubborn.
@@TriedRefusedProductions When Akshay Kumar was facing tough career he already made his mind to leave india and settle Canada but he continued films and before his departure jaanwar and hera pheri were hits
UNPOPULAR OPINION: Arijit Singh is a great singer but not for playback to an actor. He would just Sing the same style for an actor without making it their own unlike Sonu Nigam or Rafi. They would change their style depending on who the actor is. Secondly Arijit voice doesn’t suit SRK at all .
Weirdest thing for me was when Akshay Kumar starred opposite Manushi chillar - she is my age and he is 3-4 years younger than my father ….so they have an age gap of close to 30 years…I feel even in real life that age gap isn’t normal? I think some of the comebacks from actors have been like “those who point that out are jealous” completely dismissing a female perspective. Forget everything, it’s visually weird too when they are not even addressing the age gap.
Bollywood male actors who hit 50 for whatever reason can't accept reality that they are no longer in their prime. They need a wake up call where people tell them they are now grandfather aged and need to take on age appropriate roles. Amithabh Bachchan realized this and he still does meaningful roles despite being old.
No that age gap is not abnormal. It's only abnormal if the relationship is forced. If two consenting adults come together with 30 years age gap and get in a relationship, there's absolutely nothing wrong about that.
@@alvinachowdhury918 what makes it weird/ creepy is that it's not addressed like that, and the relationships are never quite as maturely depicted as you say. The hero is not shown to be 50 and living a 50 year old's life and still finding love. They're just a bachelor of a indeterminate age, acting lile they're in their 20s, while the actress playing the girl on their arms will always actually have to be in their 20s.
I used to compare the romance in many Tamil films to "Beauty and the Beast"! Funny how they expect the men to look whatever he wants but the females must be in good shape, light skinned (colorism) and must be cute. The hypocrisy is over 9000!
Also the fact that a 50 year old man playing a high school and university student, romancing a 20 yr old girl rather than casting someone younger. While a 50 year old women playing the mother of an actor that is 2-3 years older than her.... I just can't with Indian cinema's obsession with male stardom...
The mother of Mahesh Babu in Guntur kaaram, Remya krishnan used to do the "Telugu item dance" with him a decade back. 😂 We can see sreeleela play balayya's mother soon, as we already saw honey rose being his mother. This thing where someone the age of the heroine's grandfather plays the hero was not uncommon throughout India, but only in Telugu industry they had "intimate" scenes even now. For example, the latest raviteja movie. Idk why Telugu audience wants to see these grandpas romancing girls their granddaughter's age 😂
Btw "Telugu item dance" refers to the phenomenon where the hero starts rapidly kissing/running their hands through the neck/navel of the heroine. It is visible the most amid older Telugu movie songs especially with chiranjeevi, nagarjuna etc. and even now with Ravi Teja.
Ok will u go and watch in theatre if a 25 yrs old new hero does that movie with 20 yrs old actress?? No...at best u will watch it in OTT😂 India's main market is still root level India. Understand business first.
You know when you're in a heated debated and halfway through it you realise you're in the wrong, but keep on pushing through just because of your ego. That's Akshay Kumar defending his decision to star in 5-10 movies a year
Unpopular opinion: Aishwarya is not just a beautiful face but a very good actor and an exceptional dancer. Also, sobhita dulipala looks n acts same in every movie/series.
Couldn't agree more with the exceptional dancer part. I was such a huge simp for her as a child, not simple due to her face but because how she would turn music into absolute gold with her sheer presence. There have been many fair girls with blue eyes, but nobody could be Ash, because they did not had the same screen presence and elegance as her. It's not just pretty privilege.
The legendary Satyajit Ray's quote "We have a fairly backward audience, unsophisticated audience" will sadly be relevant even 100 years from now in India.
And how do you define sophisticated movie viewer ? isn't that just simply saying certain people who like certain things are good viewers while others are not? How do you define which one is good or which one is bad? people go to watch movies for entertainment and as long as they are entertained why does it matter if that movie falls in good grades of certain group of individuals?
Finally someone spoke about the lack of new directors in Modern Hindi Cinema..... At one point I thought from 2018-19 when director like Amit Sharma Rajesh Krishnan Aditya Dhar and Raj Sharma and Shandilya came a new wave of directors were emerging but after COVID it all became the same again
Aditya Dhar might have an insane impact with his next venture tho. He had a very tough setback with Ashwathamma getting shelved. If this Ranveer project hits, I hope he revives that dream
The young directors need to make more good films to leave a lasting impact unlike Neeraj Pandey who just delivered a disaster. Rohit shetty yes makes disaster films but there was a time he had his impact.Neeraj Pandey yes had his impact, his name was everywhere. I remember in one of the interviews Rohit shetty himself saying that there is a lot of insecurity which automatically translates in the film. Imagine Ranbir Vicky Ranveer working in a film together ZNMD 3 or something

I'm a Telugu, & i 100% agree with the Telugu commercial cinema problem. I'm tired of the women casting as an eye candy, so whenever a movie comes from the industry that is mainstream & has a reasonable casting of a female leads, it feels supremely refreshing
See..what’s the point of agreeing!? Does agreeing gonna change anything?…even u won’t go to a movie I think coz the people who type this type of comments are the one will ask for nudity and never support a full story oriented movie. A strong story based movie never gonna sell coz ur refreshing feeling don’t give a penny to them…it’s a business… Well I m not disagreeing your point or telling u r wrong…it’s just a never changing structural pattern of Indian cinema of having glamour or item numbers. Was shruti hassan eye candy in salaar. No she was a representation of audience and she was used as an integral part of the story because of her everything got initiated. Salaar was a neat and clean film with no item song. Only reason that people got irked that they closed the film on a damn high point and people felt like that they didn't watched anything but salaar was full of story. Full of politics and glamorous action. Part 2 deserves more love. Otherwise we as an audience should be called as hypocrites.
Yes I exist!!!! I never felt motivated to watch DDLJ, literally never. The colour palette and the overall view of the movie felt aversive to me. K3G on the other hand looked spectacular, having the right amount of everything. The characters looked beautiful and the emotions tickled fancy. Thank you @jammy for giving words to my feelings.😅
💯 🙌🏼 highly annoying for me 🥲 her attitude just drips from her face 🥲🥲 any expression AT BEST looks ingenuine, and at worst, just arrogant and full of herself.
You nailed the point about Anushka Sharma, she always had a limited range in her filmography. Not saying that she did not try her best in Sui Dhaaga, Pari and NH10 but a VAST majority of her roles have always fallen flat and forgettable.
Exactly my point..in that time acting talent were not that important only a pretty face and can dance that's all that needed...I also think kind of similar for Priyanka also .. except 2,3 films for me she is also a limited actor....
I honestly found her acting unbearable in all her movies. The reason NH10 was so good is because the director knew his craft and social terrain well. In fact if you critically analyze the climax scene you can actually see her struggling.
Telugu cinema should stop this obsession with actresses body parts and Ravi Teja should stop doing this shit again and again..I think it's his 6th or 7th film post pandemic were he is continuously romancing the actresses half his age and that do doing proper kiss/intimate scenes that has got nothing to do with the story of the film....I hope he stops doing that now

I geniuenly think Anushka was never that interested in the art of acting itself, she just got thrown into the business due to family needs and left it the first chance she got
I think Anushka just realized that she's not a versatile actor. she can only play the bubbly, outspoken type of roles in every movie. that's why she packed her bags now.

The Akshay Kumar point is so true. We don't have a problem with him working too much, but we do have a problem with him not putting enough time into each film he's a part of. For example, I heard he completed his parts for Samrat Prithviraj in just 60 days which is not enough for such a character. He will never acknowledge the fact that he has flaws and people are pointing them out to help him improve as an actor.
@julpar253 Even in Panchakshari and Arundhathi, she did exceptionally well, but in my opinion, the way the director presented her and her character arc was again partially "eye candy" mixed with mass to which acting was also added. I mean, yes, she did meaty roles and nailed them, but also forced to do lots of plain glamour eye candy roles as well. That's the sad reality of Indian cinema.😢

I agree both films were hyped and good at best. In the name of masculinity it just showed how to justify violence and self destruction in the name of love. Just perfect. ❤ and I’ve hardly felt anything like that in the recent movies, I mean yes there have been some moments ever more emotional than that, like I can’t watch a movie if the dog dies at the end, but when I look back at these movies I can feel the emotion but it doesn’t overpower my feelings. Whereas those 2 scenes from K3G always make me lose my shit.
As a Telugu person, I wholeheartedly agree with your take on how women are depicted in commercial Telugu movies. Aside from Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna also used to pick roles with strong female leads before Pushpa and Animal (for example: Dear Comrade and Geetha Govindam). Tollywood needs more strong, well-rounded female characters.

I am an 18 y/o from Hyderabad and i think the telugu cinema obsession with women in flower pot roles is definitely something that brings down the film i think this phenomenon os because of someone like a Raghavendra rao (i dont think jammy needs an introduction on who he is but just in case the infamous fruits on navel songs that are featured in some on matlab kuch bhi ) and his incredible stinct of sucess in commercial movies with this set formula of flower pot heroines and songs catered to them there are exceptions in his filmography too like his movies based on devotion like ramadasu , so the Telugu audience (family audience and many people who are not cinephiles and just casual movie goers) associate the movie to have to have these and for a telugu movie even if its 'pan indian' its majority collection has to come from its home state so i think they are scared of losing these audience who expect a song like these and whatever which can be a huge chunck of it In the end i would just say that i understand the directors pov but not really happy with it Its just my opinion and my analysis of watching movies with my relatives and friends from 8-10 years

The Fact that Tom Cruise waited for decades until he came across a good script for Top Gun Sequal. Thats what bollywood should learn from him. They didn't made a sequel just because it was a cult classic movie they made it because there was a good story coming up. And Tom rejected so many stories until he came across the version we saw. This was the reason that I didn't like watching Telugu movies in childhood even though I'm a Telugu girl I don't know, even though I was a child it just felt uncomfortable for me to watch the girls getting stalked and manipulated into loving the guys or fully sexualized or objectified I felt offended and ashamed of why these actors who I like, act or take roles with such behaviour I want to have a skip button in the theatres also to skip these unnecessary scenes just like how I do when watching at home All Rajamouli's movies will have scenes where the female leads or female characters are objectified the only exception is the recent RRR I felt so embarrassed when Rajamouli asked Prashant Neel in the Salaar promotion interview if he has any Special song (now they call it that) with Shruthi and when Prashant said 'no, there's no need for it' The justification kind of statement Rajamouli gave on why he asked this question is because he likes songs and previously he was mesmerized by Shruti in 'Charuseela' song. . . . .so he was expecting something like that since Shruthi is there in Salaar I feel like for most of the Directors female actresses are all there just to be pretty and beautiful in their frames and nothing else It is changing but with only the new directors while old directors are too scared to risk it (I guess) And also This new trend of justifying (after a decade of the movie release) the Toxic characters who were the villians or portrayed in negative shade is not sitting right with me I don't know if they are trolling or seriously thinking that they were good There are some idiots in the audience who're calling some of the antagonist roles as True lovers, when those villains were actually in relationship with multiple females or used to harass them sexually Or the female antagonist roles where they would be super obsessive, jealousy on peak, red flags destroying the lives of people around the hero or the mental health/life of the hero How could these people now glorify them by saying they are the best lovers as they will love the protagonist without caring about others and would go to any extent On how some movies showcase love there's just a fine line between love and lust and there's no difference between the hero and the villain Obul Reddy from Okkadu Bhadranna from Varsham Nilambari from Padayappa Easwari from Thimiru Geetha from Vallavan They are all very obsessive and are straight up Red flags I don't understand why glorify them Ofcourse these characters are Iconic but that shouldn't influence you to glorify and become like them. They were trying to teach you how it's bad to be like them. Learn from their lives but don't be miserable like them The most misunderstood movie was the recently released Tamil movie ' Lover ' starring K. Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya where both characters were bad to each other The Male character was more toxic and darker shade of Red while the female becomes Red, being not able to communicate properly to him because of this trauma he's arising in her with his behaviour The director was so upset and offended and refused to greet the audience after the showcase at one theatre because the audience were whistling and hooting for the male character He addressed it (along with the Hero) in interviews that people shouldn't look at that character as a hero. He's a red flag and should only sympathize with the female character and not bash her (which people were doing)

The song with Jhanvi and NTR made me so uncomfortable ngl. It just felt weird. The age difference is also a huge problem in films across India and ATP I'm not even sure what can be done about it. Agreed, it's never gonna a change 👍 10:46 in Indian cinema, most of heroins shown as object of romance, they don't have add any weightage to the film/charecter, they just get role for their glamour & dance moves, and also in indian cinema hero romancing half of his age girls & thise cheezee lines of hero towards heroines never change, but this audience fault too

Javed Akhtar's line is so on point. It's what a lot of people say when they answer why no one wants a Donkey (from Shrek) movie, or why Cars 2 was bad. Because they are side characters. It's salt. You sprinkle salt in the food to make it taste better, but no one eats a spoonful of salt.

Pathaan and Jawan just were his latest blockbusters. Just like Jammy was going gaga over Salman's 100 crore movies, SRK also has never delivered a movie that's grossed less than 10 million dollars overseas since 2009. Salman and aamir couldn't stay consistent overseas.K3G has been dubbed the Sholay of overseas for a reason. It broke all overseas record back in 2001.Then he followed it up with devdas, kal ho naa ho,veer zaara, main hoon na,don until a mixed WOM movie like KANK broke K3G's overseas record. Then came MNIK which was an even bigger hit than KANK.SRK again reclaimed the overseas throne with chennai express. But then a shitty movie like Dilwale grossed almost 30 million dollars overseas and became the biggest overseas bollywood hit. SRK had a bad run of movies but never saw a downfall in his overseas stardom in the 2010s. When he came after four years he broke all the records with pathaan and jawan as u said.Even dunki which was kinda an underperformer by SRK standards grossed 23 million dollars overseas. The Salman Khan opinion is not unpopular at all. It makes you feel bad because if an actor could give such numbers with such bang average script what can he do if he works with credible faces regularly
9:30 Before he said that, Shabana Azmi on the FIRST season of KWK mentioned to Karan that producers in positions of power should subsidise or at least help out productions in need of resources.
Thankyou for saying that about DDLJ. Revisiting it only makes you realize that it was a movie of its time, not having much of a recall value. K3g was good but I can't rap my head around the fact that no one talks about Pardes🤔
k3g was a good balance of modern and indian-ness.. comedy and family emotions.. good music..and overall feel-good package without any violence..with cast that appeals to all age ranges. pardes was cringe. too much underlying theme of self-proclaimed 'humare sanskar world best' and blindly stereotyping about everyone who lives in other culture as immoral even if they are indians. but i know that was a common successful trope in indian cinema of those times when general public had low exposure to outside. Anyways Mahima looked cute and I LOVE the songs, i still listen to them to this day.
I totally agree with K3G point. It has so many emotional, goosebump moments which are very less spoken. DDLJ, no offense, is highly overrated. I feel like revisiting K3G, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, never felt the same about DDLJ

DDLJ was supposed to be a generation change movie from Yash Chopra to Aditya Chopra which worked so well whereas KG3 had all the elements of for all the generations to connect the recall value of the film is too good to be true
His popularity is a product of his work till 2010. His is still basking in that glory.. internationally, he is more popular.. but in India, Salman exceeds him by miles.
Prabhas is biggest star in india. It is because his base and main audience is of Telugu states. But his every movie's first day collection itself is doing more than 150crs and collecting 300 400 crs no matter how bad the talk is. On the other hand that much collection is still a dream for many stars across India
Even more unpopular opinion: I always felt Anushka Sharma is neither very beautiful nor very talented. She was lucky enough to be cast in big movies and had a good run for a brief period. She would have never been the one to have long legendary career like Madhuri Dixit.
She is not great but she is also not bad it's just women in India does not get complex female characters most of the times the writing itself is so repetitive than of course the acting is also going to be repetitive as well most of the times great acting also comes from great writing example godfather, shawshank redemption and forest grump
@@ashnaagarwal4825 She's definitely not bad. I liked her performance in Band Baaja Baraat and NH10. Other than that, I feel she got more attention than she deserves, with Virat Kohli also being a big reason for it.
@@ajayrajan10 yeah that's also true but I guess bollywood also many times does not utilise the full potential of all the actress even recently all the characters done by Deepika Padukone also felt the same because the writing wasn't any extraordinary but I think most probably she will also leave bollywood now alia Bhatt has played many complex female characters in her career she has made a lot of movies hit at the box office without depending on the male lead I hope someday other actresses will also be able to do the same
Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham is indeed one of the best films of SRK and THE BEST film directed by Karan Johar, in my opinion. Period. Thanks a lot for praising it (although I humbly disagree on it being better than DDLJ.. I think both are great equally). Amitabh and SRK, the family dynamics, romance, grandeur, ambition and scale.. K3G is truly a modern epic executed to near perfection!
But a few years later in an interview she will probably raise her voice against the misogyny in the industry and how she struggled with objectification
Being your subscriber for a very long time, i disagree with so many of your opinions but in this video i agree so much with all the points (barring K3G > DDLJ)
As a Telugu person, I totally agree with the evolution of women's roles in tollywood and bollywood. Telugu movies except for pan India movies from the past 3 years have been absolute disasters. They just made me appreciate how wholesome and meaningful the 2000s and 2010s movies were in terms of storyline, comedy, and romance (not all though). And there were more female-centric movies with Anushka Shetty doing movies like Arundhathi etc. Whereas in Bollywood there has been a positive evolution in portraying female roles in movies. I hope one day we get to experience the charm tollywood had before, obviously without the sexism.
So on points with Akshay and esp Anushka and kartik you like them they work hard put in lot of effort you don’t enjoy their acting where as actor like Vicky Kaushal , Manoj bajpai, irfan khan they are so natural and effortless
Telugu industry had great woman roles during NTR, ANR era and it went downward spiral afterward. Chiranjeevi brought the current mass masala template but even his movies had some importance to the female lead. The new generation is much worse. If you need to see good female lead, you can be certain that its not from top heroes.
Recently there is a popular webseries name "Brinda" performed by Trisha done by Telugu industry. Many Telugu people thinking its a Tamil web series. That's what Telugu films have a reputation among telugu people only. They are subconsciously trained that good content come only from Tamil, Malayalam.
I think that is mostly because Trisha has forgotten she was also an actress in Telugu industry after getting initial fame in Telugu. She was ruling the industry initially in her career and then proceeded to do only Tamil films completely ignoring Telugu. So Telugu people also forgot she is a Telugu actress.
@@rrtp2009 Its not about her. Its basically about Treatment of the webseries. I mean, look, story subject, other actors and all.All look new faces, direction was new. So it felt like Non-Telugu because the way we identify telugu webseries, movies is by dailogue delivery, comedy and loud bangs.

I so agree with the first take. The problem with Akshay Kumar is that he refuses to listen to criticism and treats it like hate. He refuses to treat filmmaking and acting like art. Art needs inspiration. He's just stubborn.

It is predatory in nature.
It’s creepy, especially the kissing scenes.
😬
I used to compare the romance in many Tamil films to "Beauty and the Beast"! Funny how they expect the men to look whatever he wants but the females must be in good shape, light skinned (colorism) and must be cute. The hypocrisy is over 9000!

The mother of Mahesh Babu in Guntur kaaram, Remya krishnan used to do the "Telugu item dance" with him a decade back. 😂

Unpopular opinion-Dil se is the best romantic movie of SRK
Dil se is best movie ever of any actor
Because it was Mani Ratnam movie
dil se is not really a romance movie. its a movie about obsession
Agree ddlj and other films are mid
So stalking a woman and ignoring her wants/needs is romance?
Why our hindi cinema is lacking behind because we don't have new voices, filmakers and writers they are backbone of a film
Hindi cinema has everything except good pay scale for screen writers
Korean dramas & anime sell well, bcoz of remaking webtoon & manga Stories. Even a normal person can create manhwas. That's why they don't need to worry About stories & script ideas
But in india, north south east west, focus is stardom only few directors focus is story. Screen writers are also under paid
Also we don't have audience who pays attention and appreciates to quality product and just go for some actor they like....
also bcz main stars are old now and there is no new star which can act good and have star power except Ranbir. while tollywood has younger actors like allu arjun prabhas jr ntr nani ram charan even though mahesh babu is 50 he still looks like 30. there was perfect transition from the era of Chiranjeevi venkatesh balakrishna nagaarjuna to the current stars of tollywood. there is nothing like that in bollywood.

Jammy is just on point with his opinions. Several of this Opinions were resonated with me as well. The Sarcasm he had for last movies was quite hilarious.
This was the reason that I didn't like watching Telugu movies in childhood even though I'm a Telugu girl
I don't know, even though I was a child it just felt uncomfortable for me to watch the girls getting stalked and manipulated into loving the guys or fully sexualized or objectified
I felt offended and ashamed of why these actors who I like, act or take roles with such behaviour
I want to have a skip button in the theatres also to skip these unnecessary scenes just like how I do when watching at home
All Rajamouli's movies will have scenes where the female leads or female characters are objectified the only exception is the recent RRR
I felt so embarrassed when Rajamouli asked Prashant Neel in the Salaar promotion interview if he has any Special song (now they call it that) with Shruthi and when Prashant said 'no, there's no need for it'
The justification kind of statement Rajamouli gave on why he asked this question is because he likes songs and previously he was mesmerized by Shruti in 'Charuseela' song. . . . .so he was expecting something like that since Shruthi is there in Salaar
I feel like for most of the Directors female actresses are all there just to be pretty and beautiful in their frames and nothing else
It is changing but with only the new directors while old directors are too scared to risk it (I guess)
And also
This new trend of justifying (after a decade of the movie release) the Toxic characters who were the villians or portrayed in negative shade is not sitting right with me
I don't know if they are trolling or seriously thinking that they were good
There are some idiots in the audience who're calling some of the antagonist roles as True lovers, when those villains were actually in relationship with multiple females or used to harass them sexually
Or the female antagonist roles where they would be super obsessive, jealousy on peak, red flags destroying the lives of people around the hero or the mental health/life of the hero
How could these people now glorify them by saying they are the best lovers as they will love the protagonist without caring about others and would go to any extent
On how some movies showcase love there's just a fine line between love and lust and there's no difference between the hero and the villain
Obul Reddy from Okkadu
Bhadranna from Varsham
Nilambari from Padayappa
Easwari from Thimiru
Geetha from Vallavan
They are all very obsessive and are straight up Red flags I don't understand why glorify them
Ofcourse these characters are Iconic but that shouldn't influence you to glorify and become like them. They were trying to teach you how it's bad to be like them. Learn from their lives but don't be miserable like them
The most misunderstood movie was the recently released Tamil movie ' Lover ' starring K. Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya where both characters were bad to each other
The Male character was more toxic and darker shade of Red while the female becomes Red, being not able to communicate properly to him because of this trauma he's arising in her with his behaviour
The director was so upset and offended and refused to greet the audience after the showcase at one theatre because the audience were whistling and hooting for the male character
He addressed it (along with the Hero) in interviews that people shouldn't look at that character as a hero. He's a red flag and should only sympathize with the female character and not bash her (which people were doing)
If they ever make a sequel to Chennai Express, I will be disappointed if they don't name it "Chennai Vande Bharat Express"
😂😂😂

The song with Jhanvi and NTR made me so uncomfortable ngl. It just felt weird. The age difference is also a huge problem in films across India and ATP I'm not even sure what can be done about it. People have brought it up constantly and still there's no change. I wonder how many more decades it will take and then we'll term it "progressive."

Pagal hai kya? Srk literally opened markets for Indian films in numerous countries. He has an unmatchable stardom worldwide since the early 2000s which is totally unachievable for the new gen heroes.
SRK alone has more overseas blockbusters than the rest of the bollywood combined. Go and have a look. He literally opened so many new markets for Indian cinema. There's a reason SRK is the biggest indian movie star internationally

Thankyou for saying that about DDLJ. Revisiting it only makes you realize that it was a movie of its time, not having much of a recall value. K3g was good but I can't rap my head around the fact that no one talks about Pardes🤔
Pardes is a great movie
k3g was a good balance of modern and indian-ness.. comedy and family emotions.. good music..and overall feel-good package without any violence..with cast that appeals to all age ranges.
pardes was cringe. too much underlying theme of self-proclaimed 'humare sanskar world best' and blindly stereotyping about everyone who lives in other culture as immoral even if they are indians. but i know that was a common successful trope in indian cinema of those times when general public had low exposure to outside.

Yup, But let's say It became HIT, then SKY is the limit of DEVARA2.

Anushka Sharma is really progressive in terms of her being producer but herself being as an onscreen actress was very limited

You're right so about Anushka. It was so hard to watch ADHM and JHMS.
