Ian Bennett worked on level one of this renovation 10 years ago when he was working for a local architectural firm, but recently found himself running into the owner again and was asked if he would like to renovate level two and add a new third level. The result is a stunning beachside home which boasts amazing views and is exposed to wild coastal weather conditions, but its location on the Bangalley Headland is what truly makes it unique.

The "incredible view" is a bit of an overstatement...and there's nothing like taking a dump in your bedroom.
Maybe the downstairs toilet is the 'dump' toilet :)

I love the house but my only gripe with it is the open bedroom/bathroom combo.

Love the strong and soft features of the house... would have like to see the entire space( old/new ) to see how they are used now that the focus is the cliff ... I saw a pool in the intro, and a living-room opposite the new space ....🤔 just saying....
P.S. in freezing the shot 0.35 I see now that the homes had originally more front yard than back based on the house 2 doors to the left ! So time was mostly being spent towards the front yard 🤔... sorry if I sound nosey... just interested in the architecture as Australia seem to be on the cutting edge of building more innovative homes 😃

Beautiful home but as someone with an open master + bathroom design in my current home, I would never buy another house with that layout design.
If I were to buy this house the first thing I would do is wall off the bathroom with at least a glass panel. Otherwise if you and your partner have to get up or go to sleep at different times, you'll end up on the same schedule regardless with the noise from the bathroom.

I can't. I've seen too many instances of cliffs and waterfronts deteriorating to feel comfortable with this. I can't even look at this without wondering what happens with more frequent storms and rising sea levels. We just bought 200 acres at the edge of a lake on crown lands in Canada and I felt hesitant about that. I can't imagine how insecure I'd feel about this.

The thing that stuck out the most is that there didn't seem to be any baseboards along the plaster walls. How was this done? It looks brilliant and so easy to clean.

A 12 mm dressed timber trim along the base of the wall is installed first, then above this is the 12mm gibs board shee. Between then a net line of 5mm negative detail between, and an (alloy) angle to protect and square up the gib-board edges along the bottom. When painted it is clean lines and looks like the wall finished at the floor.

Why you didnt show other rooms
Lovely modern home. But there is a big minus - steps both outside and inside. Didn't like the master bedroom with open bathroom. Glass does not soundproof. If the water is noisy in the shower, it interferes with sleep.
@Hunting for George: Did you purposely neglect to show us the other section of the living space with what looked like older furniture?

I'm guessing the owners wanted to keep some privacy as we've only seen the back half of the house? I also find it a little bland and the proportions of the kitchen seem a bit off. A small person will have trouble trying to reach the wash basin.

Love the house, you can really see on the outside shot the difference between an architect designed house and normal cookie cutter boring siding filled houses.
Only thing is the master bedroom, dont really like the fully open plan bathroom, also no place whatsoever for the TV in front of the Bed, to some that is not necessary but to me it is
You can get a drop-down TV from the ceiling, or add a pop-up TV at the end of the bed. It's actually not that expensive to get those installed and automated.
