@Spartan Hegemony What's wrong with it is that it turns city centers into tourist accommodation at the expense of actual local inhabitants, like in Amsterdam.
@@aayotechnology Of course it is, and projects such as showcased in this video are great. But the problem is thousands upon thousands of existing properties being permanently hired out to tourists and therefore completely out of the regular housing market, when there already is a massive housing shortage.
@@SanjarTheKingOfKings it’s a complex situation. You can’t just point your finger at Airbnb and not blame lack of new development. You’re trying to hold back the tide and what the market bears. I don’t, but many people in my city live off tourism. You want to limit their success?
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship on the fireplace and the couch as well. The tiny house and the contents are stylish. Love the clean open modern feel of it all.
It's nice but to be honest the fire place dead centre in the living space takes away from the massive windows which in my opinion the outdoor landscape should be the focal point lol.
If you look at the inside, there's really no place to put it w/o ruining the symmetry of the interior. Also, it's not only a fire place but a piece of art. To relegate it to some other part of the house would be an injustice to the piece as well as the artist. To me, the house was built with function over form but I believe it met both criteria equally. If one wants to see an adulterated view of the water, one only has to get up off their butt. But to solve your concern, I would probably add a small deck that is surrounded by 3 foot glass (not flexiglass as they turn yellow after a while) walls to not obstruct the view and to prevent people from falling below and deep enough to accommodate two small tables and four chairs so one can seat, drink one's favorite beverage and enjoy the scenery. I'm aware that they will have to change the fixed windows to sliding doors. FTR, there are door manufacturers that make sliding doors unobtrusive. Some are even frameless.

This architecture is amazing i love this tiny home. Everything from the black steel to the natural wood . very calm and serene . im going to school for architecture my last research paper was on the tiny homes .
Of course it is interesting to see new places that has been designed in a multifunctional way right away. But only very few people can afford them. A lot of people live in small apartments that have been there for many years. I found those videos where old tiny apartments were redesigned more interesting and more inspiring because you could use them to redesign and improve your own apartment.
The other renovations weren't cheap either. Your point still stands if you prefer renovations because they have preexisting constraints that have to be considered and worked around.
You can't actually "live" in these pods. Could a single person do it? sure. No washer/dryer, place for vacuums, dryfood, etc. It's literally half of an apartment.
I would disagree on the affordable part. The main expense would be the land, not the home. There are many home building shows out there you can watch (impossible builds on hulu) that are stunning and extremely cheap that follow this exact style of building. 2 "boxes" built separately and then "push" together, probably round 30-60k. The real expense was probably going local and the fine luxury/high end items inside the house
@@2_Bike_is_Life I disagree. There is space for a washer dryer (it was in the video), a vacuum could easily be laid up against a wall or I'm sure you could find a creative solution in the storage space, 'dryfood', same thing. I love the simplicity and the look of it,the only thing that concerns me is the black counter slab and the black bathroom. I don't mind the dark moody feel, but I sure know it's a handful to clean. Black gets dirty very easily and looks way messier than light colors. Especially the sink basin. That will get dirty in no time, and it will always look like it's dirty ( even if properly cleaned) That's something to consider knowing many people will use it...
@@RcsN505 As someone who has a black tiled backsplash in my kitchen ( big black tiles). They get dirty very easily, especially if i shine the accent light that's above them. @@aayotechnology Investors purchasing homes in cities only to rent them out via Airbnb and violating regulations (e.g. max number of days you're allowed to rent out your home) which Airbnb also does nothing about to prevent and ignoring legislation, resulting in neighbourhoods dying out because locals no longer have "neighbours", no fixed communities, and fewer social contacts because it's only people coming in for brief holidays. At the same time, it drives up housing prices, which makes it impossible for people who are looking for a home to actually live in to buy property. Airbnb is less of a "local host offering a local experience to visitors" experience, and more of "corporate investors hollowing out cities and basically renting out properties at far higher prices than allowed for actual rental properties by pretending they're holiday homes" thing. She meant figuratively
The wonderful use of space, the design of the home and the importance given to local craftsmanship. 🙆🏻♀🏠🛖
I love the simplicity and the look of it,the only thing that concerns me is the black counter slab and the black bathroom.
I don't mind the dark moody feel, but I sure know it's a handful to clean. Black gets dirty very easily and looks way messier than light colors.
Especially the sink basin. That will get dirty in no time, and it will always look like it's dirty ( even if properly cleaned)
That's something to consider knowing many people will use it...
@@RcsN505 As someone who has a black tiled backsplash in my kitchen ( big black tiles).
They get dirty very easily, especially if i shine the accent light that's above them.
They still look great, will not change them because of the kitchen vibe.
But black it's definitely not for a bathroom.
Too much hassle,
At least for me.
😂 U Racist , u are now under the radar of BLM
That fireplace is a work of art! beautifully made 👏
There is no way this woman actually lives there - there are absolutely no personal belongings anywhere in this cabin.
But nice rental, I suppose.
Well it is also an advertisement for her airbnb. i don’t think that renters want to see her mess in their potential room. But fair point.
she probably stays there for a few days and goes to other places, it's and airbnb after all, it's not supposed to be for her haha
A travel writer’s belongings in 2021: a property, a laptop, a wifi streaming device, and some clothes.
I would guess she lives there off season. And makes a lot of money leasing in during High season. (and may even live off-island during High Season - where its cheap)
that is how MANY Island folks around the world do it. They make enough in 6 months to fund their lifestyle for the year. (Covid messed all THAT up for everyone)
I don't think I've seen a single "tiny space video" with the owner/occupant's shit... err, I mean stuff... scattered all around.
This is now my favorite "Never to small" Home, that i see :)
This kinda look familiar...
Is it the same build from Grand Designs?
Yeah I saw the thumbnail and was like wait, I've seen this place before
The UA-cam channel Hunting for George also covered this a week ago.
Spot on 👍🏻
Super tasteful....I usually don't sit through these Tiny Home vids...but this one got me....very nice!!
WOW, that is stunning! And the custom furniture is next level. The only thing wrong (REALLY wrong) is the toilet paper is hung the wrong way ;-)
XD
This is awesome! A word used too often, but this truly fulfills the meaning.
I really admire Alice's emphasis on supporting of local businesses and craftsmen. I think it's really important to support and display local artists and her home does an amazing job of it.
And at the same time, it is an advertisement of AirBnB, which is destroying the sustainability of local people in big cities.
Sorry, but I cant buy the "I support local businesses" while you are part of an extremely harmful business for those people you say you support.
@@rever6612 how is it destructive? Please explain
You can find a bunch of articles about it.
@OJD PUBLISHING Dude, it has everything to do with the owner of such property. Making money at the expense of social cohesion et al. Re-read @max comment a bit more closely
Promo for Airbnb, destructive to local communities
