@@ballsoutperformance Is it possible the Bearing just burned up braaa? Or that a the clutch is nt locking in because its wore down and you can shim it? or use another washer. I want to say thank you for making this video. I have just successfully completed the clutch replacement on my 4 cylinder 2015 Tacoma. Without your video I probably would have been too intimidated to attempt it myself. Worth mentioning for anyone else considering this on a 4 cylinder: You will absolutely have to remove the fan shroud and fan blade. The clearance is too small because the 4 cylinder engine sticks out further than the v6 (4 in a row is a whole cylinder longer than two rows of 3, and it makes it only a couple inches to work with). Once the fan shroud/blade is removed, you have plenty of working room. Beware of the fan clutch nuts, they round easily. I had to chisel mine off and replace them with M8x1.5 flanged nuts. Thanks again for this incredible video. Cold A/C!

You then put the spring clip on the tube, slide the tube over the shaft, and put the clip down into its groove with a screwdriver. Tube was: ID 35.8mm OD 44mm I have the STL file if anyone needs it, but it’s a very simple tube to make in CAD

I saw your vide and want to thank you! Showing step by step how to replace the magnetic clutch. Is it the same process/technique for a 2016 Tacoma SR5?
Your awesome kid! I could NOT do all that, you made it look easy! So, AC green light on my 2016 all of a sudden offs off, after 5 seconds of truck running so i was told 1. check for relay switch (MG by battery) $18 then if that's not it 2. could be a blown or burnt wiring located under glove box, just needs new wiring under there where the white wire is all burnt or turned yellowish. Then could be what you fixed but that for us is expensive and labor. Ugh. (2016 4x4 sport) AC worked on the way to pick up my son then when we got back in the truck, the AC blew warm air and I checked and the AC button green light was NOT engaged so I knew something was wrong right there, I never turn off that AC button. Hoping its the relay.
Nope! Was hoping it was just the Relay and it wasn’t. Just changed that relay and AC keeps turning off. When it runs and I push the AC button, I can hear a small sound, not a Louth stretch but a mild screeching sound, maybe that’s the sound it makes when the compressor on the inside refuses to spin as it should??? Insight??
Thats very possible. The compressor has whats essentially a speed sensor on it. So if you try to engage it via the a/c button, and the compressor doesnt spin, the computer knows theres a problem, and shuts it down. If you try to engage it and hear a screech, the compressor may be locked up, and the screech is the belt slipping on the pulley once the ac clutch locks in. Its hard to diagnose 100% without seeing it
@@ballsoutperformance how night I diagnois myself? You need to watch it while someone engages the switch from the inside. It should be on first start up, have them engage the switch and watch the compressor/clutch and see what it does. Great video man! Can't thank you enough. Silly question, but if the clutch is not engaging will it also cause the radiator fan and ac fans not to come on also? Or in some cases it's only 1 fan.
Thanks. Maybe so. After you turn the AC on, within a few seconds, if it senses a problem with the system, it may shut off the condenser fan at that point.
Could the bearing be bad inside that same part you replaced. My ac works fine, but making a horrible noise coming from the front of ac compressor. Original with 360k miles. All the other pulleys have been replaced. Great video by the way!
Do you know how to tell if it's the bearing inside the compressor. I put a stethoscope up to the ac compressor and could definitely hear it against the front of the clutch. Thanks for replying back!
@@jacksonvlogs7342Usually it’s the clutch pulley bearing 9 times out of ten. And if the compressor is the culprit it will typically internally grenade and you’ll know it.

Hi again... I've got the new kit installed. First snap ring was easy! But... whether my AC is engaged or not, the clutch is still spinning and of course still blowing cold air. The only way to get the clutch to stop is to turn the Fan control off. I tried one more shim and it didn't make any difference.
Check at the connector if you are still getting power to the AC clutch even when the ac control button is off. That way you determine if its an electrical or mechanical issue

I managed to get the clutch disengaged but made a grinding sound and engaged again on fan mode. Cut the a/c off and the car stalled
Another cautionary note is that it may be a real bugger to disconnect the electrical connector to remove the coils, the tab not being readily accessible on my vehicle. Since my coils were trashed anyway, I ground the connector down at its mount with a drill and rasp bit to get it off the mounting tab, which enabled me to turn it around to access the plastic tab to disconnect it. There must be a special circle in hell for the engineers who designed that one, where they have to take apart their own electrical connections.

I’m not a small dude and don’t have a lift so I wound up taking down the torsion bar to give me more room then I used a 45° snap ring tool and got it to snap all the way around and I made sure with a screw driver that it was secure lol. Thanks a bunch on the video it was a big help.
What website did you purchase the parts from?
Stadium Toyota
Does anyone know the part number?
That was answered somewhere in one of the comments
I changed the clutch in my 2000 Tacoma with 107k miles. It belonged to my dad who rarely drove it. When I installed the new pulley, it was hard to turn. I noticed you gave your new pulley a spin after you installed it. Why do you think my pulley is hard to turn without the belt attached?
Great video man! Can't thank you enough. Silly question, but if the clutch is not engaging will it also cause the radiator fan and ac fans not to come on also? Or in some cases it's only 1 fan.
Thanks. Maybe so. After you turn the AC on, within a few seconds, if it senses a problem with the system, it may shut off the condenser fan at that point.
Could the bearing be bad inside that same part you replaced. My ac works fine, but making a horrible noise coming from the front of ac compressor. Original with 360k miles. All the other pulleys have been replaced. Great video by the way!
Yes it could be in the clutch or it could be a bad bearing inside of the actual compressor.
Mine seized (had to be compressor) at about 120k. Sounded like a bearing grinding away. Thought battery was dead one day, but finally got it to turn over and it shredded the belt, AC compressor was frozen. Up to 220k now and sounds like bearings grinding again...
Great video
Thanks!
What are you looking for when adding removing shims?
Where are you located?
Lumberton nc area
Nice work
Thanks
Nice Civic hatchback
Thank You
@@ballsoutperformance Thanks for getting back to me. I put in a fifth shim and solved the problem. When I turn the AC off on the dash, the clutch stops spinning. Thanks for the great video! Really helped.
Awesome. Was it an OEM clutch or aftermarket?
@@ballsoutperformance It was an aftermarket off Amazon. $160 Can. The dealer wanted almost $400 for the OEM. and they were talking 12-1500 for the repair. And I've got a feeling the AC wasn't ever working 100% in in the first place. This thing is blowing really cold air now!
Ok, gotcha!
I just changed the ac clutch engaged the first week not is not disengaging
No adusting clearance with spacers?
If need be. I started with the factory amount of shims and it was fine.
@@ballsoutperformance I’m a tech our master teacher showed me how to it with a feeler gauge I’m trying to find a vid of someone adjusting clearance but no one has so far lmao
Got everything off my '13 Tacoma, putting it back together and can't get the first snap ring to go!! Its driving me insane!!
The snap rings suck. Keep working at it
i changed my pulley and all, now the clutch is always engaged. I tried restarting the system via disconnect battery…Bad idea. Low idle made the engine work harder with the clutch still engaged. I managed to get the clutch disengaged but made a grinding sound and engaged again on fan mode. Cut the a/c off and the car stalled
ill add a shim and see if that solves my issue
good job son.
It stars at minute 4:00
Please just take the fan and shroud off. It takes literally 5 minutes, and makes your life infinitely easier.
