Steve from IR mentions the PPA gives you 12 full months to 'test the waters'.. so if you test the waters aka market the invention or putting it on social media(if you are not going the licensing route) that means you've got one shot.. one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted, one moment.. would you capture it.. or let it slip ♪

How do you write a provisional patent for an item that is an addition or add on to specific models of a vehicle? It would only fit specific models that have a particular feature?
Hi Kencamp, thank you for watching and for your question. This is not a problem at all. Just specify the model of vehicle, that your invention modifies, and then explain the new invention. It's very helpful to discuss not only how to construct the new invention, but also how it would be used and installed on the vehicle. hello..Alex from New York.. so is it possible to elaborate on that one invention that requires a prototype pls.. so let's say for instance I'm looking for a patent in reference to furniture drawers opening in a different manner.. does that require a prototype?
Hi Alex, the requirement for submitting invention models to the patent office ended in 1880, both to make it easier for individual inventors to file patents and because the patent office was running out of room to store the models. Separate from the model requirement is the requirement that an invention be useful. I do not know for certain if this is true, but many years ago, one of my patent law professors told me that the patent office still requires a working model for inventions related to perpetual motion machines. This is not for the purpose of satisfying the model requirement, but rather to prove that the machine actually works. Having a perpetual motion machine would violate the laws of thermodynamics, and thus would render such an invention highly suspect. 🧐 Good luck with your furniture drawer invention; I wish you great success. -john
