This is a french documentary in English talking about the moonstone of Sri Lanka (Ceylan) by Patrick Voillot a famous gemmologist.
Hi, Patrick, I am Haiyun from Sri Lanka, who was your guide friend from World Craft - Mitiyagoda Mine. I am glad I came across this video, and found myself back in the old days.

Beautiful video! thanks for creating such amazing content!
Such hard work and dedication! Truly exceptional culture! Thanks for sharing this ❤️
Well hey! This was a surprisingly great documentary. It was very informative about the stone itself and had lots of interesting info about the different religions/cultures and such.
Top notch 👌
Yeah this guy makes very good gemstone documentaries. All of them are very informative.
Fancy sapphire are very beautiful and affordable ,I think is important that are natural gem even if we find second quality, ( gem with inclusions or not having intens colours, or being milky how they say) I m a person who wear and admire gemstones, e even if I can't afford hight quality, important is to wear something natural 🤗😇.I appreciate a lot people who work so hard in this mines
Thank you so much for your videos.

Hi
Great documentary! Really enjoyed it 😊
Respect to the all hard working miners in the world
I have made many Silver rings set with Ceylon moonstones. In Ontario, Canada, I have found clear feldspar that I have polished into cabachons. They have the same chatoyancy as Ceylon moonstones, but without any color.
Me & my SO live near the Rockies & last year whilst exploring & pickin amongst a rivers flow I found a beautiful Moonstone however at the time I didn’t realize what I had, just another unique white stone that I usually gravitate toward, nothin particularly stunning but it had obviously stuck out 2 me 4 1 reason or another & several months later my SO bought his 1st ever tumblr & eagerly went through some of our stone collections & happened 2 pick it out 4 1 of the 1st batches 2 tumble. B4 he polished this batch we took a look 2 C the unpolished results & were stunned by it’s beauty, it paled the other “rocks” as it seemed 2 glow & since then I haven’t allowed it 2 B polished cuz I don’t C anything could improve upon it’s perfection, truly glorious, I’m lucky it chose us & wish we had logged that batches location so we could go back
I enjoy every Patrick's documentary about gemstones. I wonder when the trips that he made to each of the countries took place. Was it at approximately the same time when the video was uploaded on youtube, or was it much earlier. Not easy to say.
Excellent video, very informative and it was educational too.
lovely documentary thank you for this. it's good to see the chain of events for a stone.
Thank you so much.
Thank u for this documentary, I learned much about moonstone 😍
Como siempre! un documental fabuloso que explica porqué tiene tan alto costo esta fabulosa gema. Gracias!

Wow EPIC documentary🔥👌
Their lifestyle is so surreal! Great, fascinating and awesome documentary!!!
Great Video! Thank you!
Nice documentary
I will never look at my moonstones in the same way. They are among my favorite gemstones. I love working with them and with Labradorite. In all forms and colors.
@Smileyrie James I bought a strand of coals for about 60 dollars. Used them sparingly with pearls. Gorgeous
Magnifique documentaire , qu’elle chance et privilège de voyager dans de défirent pays et de vivre , partager et apprécier des moments de dangers parfois , de découverte et de joie avec déférentes populations du monde .
I met my future wife In Malaysia back in 1969. I was then in the British army and before I returned to the UK for my discharge I bought my then-girlfriend a Moonstone set. A full suite. necklace earrings and broach. She still has this set today The stones are perfect and a beautiful translucent blue, the settings have become tarnished and I often wonder if the stones themselves could be fakes.
😂❤God bless to the young Boy he lost his father from the evidence
Great respect and love for u all , Muslim , boudhist and hindous , juif and Christian .
Wow! Beautifully done!
I've enjoyed your original video! TYVM!
This series is the best thing and I just wish there was one about US Turquoise and gems in the southwest
Yes, hopefully he does some about North American gemstones. Would be neat if he did one about the various opals found from Honduras to Oregon!
Very informative:)
Hello Voillot, I am into gem mining too in the South/East of Sri Lanka... It's a mine located close to the borders of Yala National Park... The area is pretty rich in a variety of precious stones... Maybe you might be interested...
And you have to wonder, does that elephant know it’s carrying the tooth of Buddha? Amazing documentaries every time on so many levels, thanks a ton! Just found amazing moonstone in central Colorado, what a blessing
the audio quality of this episode is great..... some of the others are not so great....... the post production company should work harder to match the quality of audio to the EXCELLENT video and storyline ...... even with the fluctuating audio quality, i still ENJOY each episode !!!!!!!
My favorite gem. Any direction on how we can make purchases?

My takeaway is don't touch a finished gemstone with a 10 ft. pole unless you're an expert.
Excellent documentary!
A very professional video and complete production.
Please, mr. Voillot, the only thing that is missing is that you use your knowledge to talk to us about the microscopic inclusions.
I am sure that good businessmen like you would be happy by teaching people how to distinguish between the real and the fake stones.
The good business practices protect decent dealers like you and puts the clients away from the bad ones.
Think about it, I beg you.
Giving knowledge to your clients and admirers would make the work even easier to you and would help all honest dealers.
It is about time for all us to join forces against scammers and impose the fair trade, according to gemological standards.
The analysis and the study of microscopic gemological inclusions may aid all of us and protect the gem trade from those that do not have the same moral values that we already have.
Thank you.
I second that! I go to web sites and you can tell the stone is fake, the newest is fake names that sound like the stone or they put 2 names together. After this documentary I wonder if my moonstones are fake
It seems this documentary is older than 20 years.
Very educational. Thanks.
Nice
Very interesting documentary... not sure about the music tho! 😉
wowww
I've seen these mines and been in one, I'll be honest with you it's not fun being in there. It's hot , fills up with water fast, ladders can be slippery.

The internet says that the moonstone is very breakable. Is this true? I've been thinking of making bead bracelet out of it.

It's harder than selenite and more brittle than glass and about the same average durability as a petoskey stone.(or any sea fossil)

Hi! I'm from Sri lanka
I had a beautiful unmounted moonstone for years in a box until I gave it to a friend who had a pendant made from it. It was later stolen in a burglary and then she sent me a beautiful old moonstone necklace with about ten stones which I wear.
Indeed, moon stones.
Wow.

Very nice stone 👌👌💍
They are beautiful, but are they expensive?
52 minute and 28 second ad is annoying as hell - that is what the 'SHOW MORE' is for.
