Looking for a finisher, dopplegang is a good way to turn a ton of mana into a ton of pressure. Plus even the x=1 targeting an overlord with impending isn't terrible.
Saw you as a guest on a few other channels and decided to check out your channel and I’m glad I did! You have had some really fun and some different builds from what others are playing and it’s been a lot of fun to watch.
right? Ash, CovertGoBlue, and LegenVD are the trio of absolutely *top* mtg youtubers (for Standard at least). They've always got something spicy brewing up, though I will say that Ash is the spiciest cook around.

Nice love anything beans, + helga is really cool I remember playing her in prerelease.
Deck looks great, but the real test is when you get monored (or splash monored) a few times in like 5 games. If you survive the nuts red draw, the deck is scary.
Love brews and ideas like this! I'm a value goblin, and yes control is kinda fun for me. I don't blame ya for noping out of the mirror though, you're probably right about the misery index 😂😂

Nice deck, i think The Everflowing Well could work in this deck, it's card draw and when you flip it, it can copy overlords cast for impending onto the board attacking for that turn. it could be a good replacement for Bean if it gets banned.

It was the first thing I tried when Duskmorm came, but it did not performe very well. I tried a more creature focused, never thought about control, so I went with the classic Atraxa deck which is working wonderfully. Now I will try this myself

I had the same thinking about "how can I get another beans in my 4 color etb/roxanne deck". And while I considered helga for a bit, since I play overlord of hauntwoods, roxanne and overlord of mistmoors, sunfall (and doppelgang) I settled for caretaker talent (the issue with helga/tracker in those overlord decks is that they are sitting ducks because we arn't playing much creatures early so all the cut downs and cheap removals will go to them. while talent can draw us some cards with the token on etb/attack, and can also ramp (yeah caretaker talent ramp new tech, copy the token land xD).

This is much the same as I was thinking. I feel like I want to try naya token/overlord hybrid. Hauntwoods and mistmoors both make tokens, and forge is still as good option too. With caretaker talent and beans it sounds pretty great. And it makes sunfall all the better since there would be no early creatures of yours to worry about wiping out. I’m planning to try this out tonight.

PS : soul partition is preatty great in overlords decks, you can use it on opponents creatures (soul partition an occulus and you are almost guaranteed never to see it again xD) and you can also partition your own stuff to recast (granted I play virtue of knowledge so I have more to gain from etbs I guess)
ive been messing with helga and she seems to work well with the new wonderer as a tricky way to protect her
I've tried making a more creature focused Helga deck but anytime I play her she just gets removed asap 😅

also I feel a Glarb Overlords deck could also be good, he synergizes very well with the blue and black ones
I’m not sure about helga. Giving a good target for single target removal, especially cut down and anoint seems like a mistake. I love helga and would love for her to work, but I don’t see it in this meta at all. And in a deck like this, if you drop her, it blanks a lot of commonly played removal spells. And if not helga, I’m not sure if bant is where I’d want to be. I guess permission is nice out of blue, but I almost want to try naya overlords now. Seems like it could be sweet.
I think this deck is a bit weak to your gruul aggro type leyline decks. That said, I do love Helga. Glarb overlords when?
Definitely not the strongest against aggro but great against everything else I feel! Sideboard can be adapted to give you a better matchup tho, can probably find a way to fit elspeth smite and stuff🤔
So the players that are keeping in the spot removal might not have better things to bring in against this Overlord Beans deck and having some spot removal is okay since you do have Helga and create tokens. Obviously it isn't ideal but again they might not have better things to bring in.

I mean it depends on what you like playing. If you like both, I'd go for the more resilient one (Domain).

there are like 10+ other cards ahead of beans to be banned lol if beans were near the top, a lot more people would be playing it
