Just like a cabin decompression at 40000 ft, you’re ok until the air is depleted. You can see that there are still air because of the wind; no wind, no air, no pressure, then …
At the end they can breathe until there's pressure inside, which is sucking them out. They're not in the open space. Once all the pressure is sucked out they cannot breath anymore.
Correct! The wind rushing past them and pushing them towards the open air lock is warm, breathable AIR that was filling the entire ship. When the wind stops, the air is gone. Fortunately, Rippley closed the air lock before all of the air vented into space.
@@BackwardTravisty true but in reality that entire hanger would be out of air in probably a couple seconds. Decompression is wildly violent. The scene in the Martian when they blow up the door is pretty realistic sucking out all the air in about a second.

We do have exoskeletons in use these days, but usually much smaller versions (repetitive/heavy lifting). The loader has been built though, quite a few have done it. For example one by Hankook Mirae. Interestingly, they just put a robot like it to work on Japanese railroads this month.
Yup, we can 100% build an exoskeleton like that and for quite sometime now even back then. The problem comes from the power source. So right now you’d need to have an engine on the back acting as a generator or keep it plugged into a larger power source with a cable.
There are several other factors you have to consider tho, lack of air pressure, extreme temperatures and huge amounts of radiation. -270 degrees Celsius or 120 degrees Celsius depending on the sun. your body would ether boil or freeze very quickly. I believe that the air rushing put of the airlock was still sufficient to breathe as it was being sucked out. It is only when all the air is gone that you'll find it more troublesome.
1:19:45. Oxygen does not magically dissappear in an Oxygen pressurized compartments environment. Even in the Sci Fi Vision of Human space travel. Ripley did not run out of Oxygen because when the vent opened, more Oxygen actually was delivered to her. To be sucked out into to vacuum of Space. She closed the hatch well before Oxygen levels would be depleted.
I always thought that she torched the eggs because the Queen didn't live up to her side of the bargain. If that baby face hugger hadn't emerged from its pod, Ripley would have backed away with Newt. That's why Ripley gave the Queen that look before she started torching.
Ripply had a daughter that she lost being with being in space for 57 years. So Neut is a second chance to be the mother she missed out on being. Almost any woman would try to save the girl.
The end, where she opens the hatch to space, yeah unrealistic but in movie logic, it's just that there is so much room inside the ship with air and at the same time the ship is releasing more air to compensate for the loss so that there's enough air to breath somewhat for awhile and to continuously get sucked out into the void. Lots of movies do this. I always wondered about how a really huge container, like a big ship, full of air, would take with a small opening into the void. What's the ratio size to have it act that way. A small hole would sort of act that way I would imagine but I am not sure, I can't see it being an instant depressurization with a small enough hole and a strong enough material to not make the hole bigger. But that hatch was so big, that it would seemed to be instantly so low in atmosphere pressure that yea, maybe some air, but enough of a vacuum to cause blood boiling and all that associated with space or even the bends.
The scene with the knife and the hand was not played as scripted the guy put his hand on top the other guys hand was real so the guys reaction was truly real just a fun fact about one of my favorite movies you should definitely consider reacting to alien resurrection.
I saw this a minimum of 5 times in the theater. What do I say as the Queen falls into the mushroom cloud? "Have a nice reentry burn!" I don't know if you have knight v monster legends in your country, but the Aliens were Ripley's personal demon, & she basically dons a suit of armor to fight the "dragon." Nearly all ship & loader suit shots were miniature photography. Closeups of Ripley in the loader are the actress surrounded by a prop. I've heard the 1st movie described as a "haunted house" film because of the claustrophobic conditions on the ship; & this one described as a war movie, for obvious reasons. You can skip the 3rd one. Butchered during production doesn't begin to cover everything wrong with it! Have you seen the 2 original Predator films, yet? After the success of Predator in film, novels & comics, it was decided both franchises are in the same universe. Inevitably, crossover films emerged! Alien v Predator is a fun movie.
Just because they opened the hatch to space didn't mean everywhere was instantly space. There was still breathable air being sucked out. We can argue about the accuracy of it, but it's a fictional story. It's not possible for it to be 100% real, otherwise it'd be a documentary.
If you lost pressure in a passenger plane, all the cabin air would quickly escape, and that's why oxygen masks drop from overhead in the event of a cabin depressurization. But since the Sulacco is so HUGE, there's a lot more air in it. She had plenty of time to blow the Queen out of the Cargo Lock What she experienced would be like breathing while sitting on top of a speeding car. Also, since it's just air pushing the Queen out, and not gravity, it's not like she would weigh what she would on Earth... so not really out of the realm of possibility for Ripley to hang on despite having the Queen holding on to her shoe. If Ripley's shoe had not come off, it would have been easy for the Queen to pull herself back into the Ship.
If anything about that ending was not accurate, it's how fast that heavy cargo loader exo-suit shot out into space. Again, we're not talking about gravity but wind... the inertia of that thing would make it accelerate slowly into space.
Not everything is CGI, fellas. Look at the year this was made. In mid 80s, special effects were mostly done the hard way, they built it. The rest is smart camera work and some added in post. But is practical effects. when in doubt look at the actors. No matter how good of actors they are, you can tell when they're interacting with a green screen and with real built models and creatures. You can also tell with close up shots. CGI, even today, is great with distance shots but up close it loses its realism. Watch this and later more recent movies with CGI, also "The Thing" 80s version with no cgi and all practical effects vs "The Thing " in 2011 with all cgi. You'll see the difference.
If you two haven’t already heard of and played a game called “StarCraft” (and it’s older original, “Warcraft”), consider having a look. It’s a much older game that is still played by millions of people today and much of what you see in this movie is mimicked in the StarCraft game. Trust me when I tell you you’ll have loads of fun playing both f these games.
The movie is a Vietnam war allegory. The US military was in somewhat poor shape at the time and yet the military and related businesses approach to the war was very arrogant. The US assumed its technical superiority would make this an easy war, while not understanding the enemy well at all. Also, the US military reduced recruitment standards which resulted in a lot of very poor soldiers, some literally with criminal backgrounds. Hudson is the epitome of the arrogant attitude of the time while simultaneously being a piece of crap. Burke and the company represent the business interests in the war. Burke's arrogance somehow is bigger than even the marines. The actor playing Gorman got a lot of flack from real US marines, but they missed that Gorman was specifically sent out by probably Burke precisely because Gorman was a green/possibly incompetent officer.
I still think this is the best of the Alien movies. Ridley Scott who directed the first Alien movie in 1979, returned to the franchise with two prequel movies, Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), both of which are VERY good movies for you to watch, but for me 'Aliens' is more cool and exciting. It's an iconic space marines sci-fi horror classic! Oh, and Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection are okay, but very mediocre compared to Aliens, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant.

Wait for alien 3 and 4th
Don't second guess your gut instinct. They had good casting and acting for the robots lol. Made em super creepy
Best movie ever.

In the first movie weapons are really not allowed and it's against ICC regulations to discharge a firearm in a commercial vehicle
The forklift is not CG .. it's more like a big puppet.
