I don't mind Chris Pratt's voice delivery, since I find it similar to how Lou Albano voiced the character in the cartoon. From the small bit we heard of it he seems to be giving it a somewhat similar brooklyn type delivery, with the difference that his sounds younger then Albano's performance.

Well, I disagree, but I guess we have to judge when the movie comes out. There's probably way more voice actors out there to make a good Mario voice, but they wanted the name on that movie poster for sales, because Crhis Pratt is on fire right now.

Most Illumination voice acting is great for the most part, so why would Pratt's Mario be an exception to that rule, especially since it's Illumination's most important project since the first Despicable Me. My prediction is that the secret sauce in Chris' Mario is the subtle emotional side. I've watched all of his movies (Guardians 1 and Lego Movies being more recent), and he's a very emotional actor with his face and voice. Whether it's excited, scared, vulnerable, he can do it. So I think it's a thing of we need to see the whole movie (not just trailers) before writing him off as a good Mario.

If you want a real movie with a real future then you have to have great writing and good actors. This makes me think about how the trailer has everyone going "Is Mario from New York now???" when in reality he always has been. It's just been so long since it's been addressed that everyone natrually forgot. well, Chris Pratt's voice in Mario was not bad, in fact it matched the character and even his age (since according to Nintendo Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy are 25 years old) what made people criticize his voice is the fact that Chris Pratt didn't do the Italian accent as Mario is I Italian-American so the accent is something characteristic of him, I missed it because it's something remarkable in the franchise games but I don't think it made his work horrible or anything like that, you who know the character and etc will miss the Italian accent we often hear in games? yes, but you can still enjoy the movie without it, because the movie seems to be very good and faithful to the Super Mario universe

I think where the issue lies is hearing the voice comparatively you got jack black doing a great impersonation of what people are used to hearing bowser sound like, you got toad sounding like toad, and then you've got Mario, arguably the most iconic not sounding like they're used to. I can see how some might take offense.

Charles Martinet is in the cast, but he doesn’t play an active role. Nintendo should’ve taken a page out of Sega’s book and go the extra mile.

well, Chris Pratt's voice in Mario was not bad, in fact it matched the character and even his age (since according to Nintendo Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy are 25 years old) what made people criticize his voice is the fact that Chris Pratt didn't do the Italian accent as Mario is I Italian-American so the accent is something characteristic of him, I missed it because it's something remarkable in the franchise games but I don't think it made his work horrible or anything like that, you who know the character and etc will miss the Italian accent we often hear in games? yes, but you can still enjoy the movie without it, because the movie seems to be very good and faithful to the Super Mario universe

I think where the issue lies is hearing the voice comparatively you got jack black doing a great impersonation of what people are used to hearing bowser sound like, you got toad sounding like toad, and then you've got Mario, arguably the most iconic not sounding like they're used to. I can see how some might take offense.
Well it is factual that Mario did originally had a Brooklyn Italian accent, I feel like the gen z people who are hating the voice because "it's not Mario", partially hate it because they think Charles Martinets Mario is the original Mario voice which is not true, I'm sure they would have a more ease of mind if they knew Mario's original Brooklyn accent and origin. So yes, for sure it's Nintendo making Chris Pratt do Mario's original scruffy accent. Charles Martinets high pitched Mario voice came later for sound effects in games to appeal to children, thus why Mario doesn't have real dialogue in game. People just need to understand Mario has two voices for a reason, for two separate purposes

He didn't have a voice in games, yet when the cartoon and early 90's movie was out. He had dialogue in Mario 64 where he said a full sentence "Thank you so much, for to playing my game."
It's neither good nor bad. He's fine but I wouldn't lie if I say that I was kinda disappointed. I thought he would try to sound like the Mario from the games but with his spin on it. Otherwise It's okay at best.

Celebs shouldn’t really be voicing characters imo, the industry is as tough as it is already without actors getting the role despite not actually knowing or respecting their role at all. I think actual VAs are usually miles better and more faithful, and Chris’s Mario voice here is so generic and inoffensive that it’s actually just a disservice to Mario
Nobody is hating on Pratt. People just want Mario to sound like Mario! Where was the common sense at to not make Mario sound like Mario? It’s like watching a Mickey Mouse or Simpson movie and hear Pratt in regular voice talking as Mickey or Homer. Movie looks great but as of now the Mario accent is straight trash and upsetting
They just wanted Mario to sound like in the video games but didn't realize that it would be annoying in the movie. It sucks that most people forgot that Mario had a Brooklyn accent at first. One thing that annoys me is that they think that Charles is the og Mario, well he's not. I wasn't born in the 80s or 90s but I did seen the show on Netflix

Chris Pratt's Mario voice is about as bad as Bad Sonic. We need to revolt and get them to change it. At least have him re-record his lines in a more "animated" voice. It wouldn't be as costly as the Sonic debacle and the pay off would be so much better

People are definitely overreacting about Chris Pratt’s Mario voice. While at first glance, he may just sound like Emmet as a plumber, he does try to put on a Brooklyn accent. Furthermore, if you listen to him in the second trailer, he nails the character’s bravery and confidence quite well. Plus, his Charles Martinet impression is pretty solid! Overall, Chris doesn’t the backlash he’s getting. Anyone would find it hard living up to Charles’ legend. Not to mention, we haven’t even seen the movie yet, so let’s-a not jump to conclusions! 😉👍
no chris prat will never replace mario voice unless he tries to act like mario. i feel his voice acting was lazy like alot of the other charactors. luigi toad and peach are to mentioned to.

Maybe no one is complaining about the other voice actors in the movie because they actually have talent! Chris Pratt has little experience voice acting for animated films and I think it was a bad judgement call for the producers to put him in such an iconic/important role.
