Trey is awesome, isn't he? He's been Mariah's backing vocal for nearly 30 years until today (they've been working together since her first album's promo tour). He tried going solo right after the time of this performance and Mariah gave support by writing songs for him and even singing backing vocals for one of his songs. You can see they really love each other.
It is so interesting to analyze Mariah's vocals as it is very intricate. Please do more Mariah reactions or specifically this one: Mariah - Hero/Never Too Far medley live on 'A Home for Holidays' :)
I remember hearing, "Vision of Love", on the radio for the first time. It blew me away. When I heard Mariah's voice for the first time, it was as if I'd waited my whole life to hear her voice. Almost 30 years later now and I still feel the exact same way. Mariah is an extraordinary talent. Vintage Mariah was second to none. And her songwriting skills are among the best in the world. Been a fan from day 1. Enjoyed Mr. Henny's analysis of her performance.
Mariah in her prime....Wowser😯 hats off to her back up vocalist too. He is amazing! Loved your reaction and analysis John ❤ I can tell your heart is in it😊 Thank you.
Levi 123 please check it out coach. You can also hear the vocals of her mother. please coach it is such a nice song and Mariah Carey made her rendition of that song.
I love the way you explain things in these video reactions. Mariah Carey is my favourite female voice of all time so finding this video was brilliant and your explanations about vowels and register, fascinating stuff. Thank you, Sir.
I love when educated people like yourself can comment on the human voice and explain exactly what is happening! It is so interesting. Mariah makes it all sound so easy. Liked and subscribed!
She’s really good with her vowels! Very resonant sounds full warm and rounded not just screaming it out and when she makes it wider she makes sure it is placed perfect for the next note she’s gonna hit that only make sense. Bravo 👏
Hope you react next to some of Mariah Carey’s legendary performances. I would like you to see (“Mariah Carey - Love takes time” stockholm 1990). I promise you will get goosebumps ❤️
Mariah is amazing the first time I heard of Mariah was around 1994. Without was no1 in the UK, my big sis asked me to record Mariah concert "Home Coming" it was on BBC 1 I loved every minute of the concert it started my obsession.
Yaaaay, this is Trey’s moment 😀💖 I love how they’ve stuck together for all these years. It must mean so much to Mariah to have someone so close to her that she can trust and work with so well. I loved the MTV Unplugged Special ☺️
John, thank you for another great voice analysis. This took me back, LOL. I learn so much from watching your videos!! Still here waiting for the next!! :)
she was 2 years into her career at 22 years of age with 5 number one hits under her belt before this became her sixth ... she was so new but also at her peak of vocal capabilities I love her so much
Definitely one of me and my late mums favourites.... I would absolutely die if my daughter gets to this level of skill vocally! ....she already has a little bit of a whistle registry at 14 so fingers crossed! 🤞🤗
I would love for you to react to Michael Jackson. He's a severely underrated vocalist! Especially Adult MJ! Human Nature or Rock with You from the BAD Tour.
I just discovered your videos this morning...& Have spent about two hours learning from you... you have my favorite teaching style.. not just do you explain what you do & technique.. but how & WHY techniques ,ect. are being done & the results/effect you get from live singing..,.makes me want to learn how to use the musical vocal instrument...thank you.
Do you think that anyone could sing like Mariah? Or is there like a genetic link or predisposition? For example, I think it's 40% anatomical stuff (VC, larynx,...), 30% technique, 30% musicality and, in the case of Mariah) the bonus of being a gifted genious who can be the melody itself. What percentage would you say?
Nobody can answer that question. However, her voice wouldn't be anything without her technique and musicality. Many people can sing, very few can sing healthily.
Daniel Nieto Gonzalez Nobody can sound EXACTLY like Mariah due to a phenomenon called a person’s idiodialect - the way they individually use language and speech. This is the reason why members of the same family may share some speech patterns and although they likely have very similar vocal tracts, they don’t sound perfectly alike. Many people like Katrina Velarde can get pretty close in terms of tone and ability. Anyone with vocal cords can sing to some degree, and you can hone those skills to become a great singer. Mariah is famous because she has such an incredible voice and is more talented than anyone attempting to emulate her. Short answer is yes, many people can do the same things with their voice that Mariah does, but nobody will do it exactly the same way. That’s what makes everyone’s voice so special.
I'm very glad that find a person with the knowledge for make this kind of vídeos. I am from México and a big part of my self is the music, I mean dos everything I have a songs choice to enjoy my moments, hear another opinions of the great voices is very nice. Specially when are talkin bout my divas. Thnx!!!
I can’t sing but this is so informative. It’s very enjoyable watching you enjoy a talent. Mariah Carey is one of the very few who could cover a MJ/Jackson 5 song.
Love this Mariah reaction! Please react to more! Other lambs can comment what they I wanna see, and I’m just gonna sit cause I know I’ll enjoy every suggestion. Haha ❤️
Its really entertaining watching a guy reacting to a female music artist. Mariah Carey is a perfect subject for a vocal analysis to all vocal experts, her voice is highly technical that girl is phenomenal. Thank you sir for choosing Mariah hope to see more Mariah Carey reaction pls. 😎
Question: her F5's and E5's sound to me chestier than other singers. It doesn't sound mixed. I think that's why we do not hear her belting A5's and higher. Is it because she doesn't use mixing technique? Do you think the same?
Mariah sings on slightly more open vowels, which creates a chestier resonance. Mix tends towards slightly more closed vowels, which can make higher notes easier. However, Mariah does a great job of not over-muscling this chesty belt.
Please do more reactions to singers. They are so helpful to watch. I just finished your book and have enjoyed watching your youtubes. I sing classically but have lately been really inspired by you and the way you break down the singing techniques and am branching out into more styles. Maybe you could do some of the Clark Sisters, Aretha Franklin, or more Karen Carpenter.
Without a doubt, Mariah Carey's ability to sing with her incomparable techniques has inspired and influenced some of the best vocalists today, and will continue to do so for many, many generations to come.
Can you watch Vanessa Amorosi (Australian singer) perform Heroes Live Forever at the Sydney Olympics 2000? I’ve heard her referred to as a falcon soprano. I’ve never heard someone sing that high (outside of whistle register)
Mariah is just unique and a blessing from heaven. Please react to Selena Quintanilla live at the Astrodome. She left too early but this jewel is worthy to react to! Great reaction!
I think a reaction to either “I can make it through the rain” or “vision of Love” would be amazing to show how she pronounces the exact same lyrics differently when he sings on a higher range. 🥰 Are you planning on doing those???
I just want your opinion on an ever going debate: both in their prime who was the better singer? Who was the better vocal talent? Whitney or Mariah? We will forever have our own favorites but I want to hear your opinions

@@RodrigoOliveira-pg8rs It's a truth. I would rather listen all day to Mariah or Whitney rather than listening to these newer generation shite.

I love Trey Lorentz too
They even sang this song together at Michael Jackson's funeral because Michael loved this version so much.
Jo Lennon he’s no longer her background singer?
@@entrainson7208 he still is
Jo Lennon oh okay.
She was really something out this world when she came out in the scene. She was like an angel.

She is still an amazing singer now a more mature and experienced singer with no surgical nodules in her throat. Still sings beautiful.

Classic song love both versions. Mariah’s voice is so pleasant to the ears, never becomes grating.
Mariah's tone is beautiful. Especially in the early 90's.
Please do Vanishing SNL live or If Its Over Grammys live. She demonstrated incredible technique with both those performances.
