Worst decision GM has made in the recent years was selling Opel to PSA, this brand always had a sporty spirit and sold well with a huge fanbase, now imagine this in a blue 200hp+ OPC version!
The fact that Opel is now finally climbing out of the red after being sold to PSA says enough about the incompetence of GM sadly. Letting so many great brands die.

I have a 2019 1.4T (150bhp, 6-speed manual) and last big trip I did was about 700-800 kms in which I pulled a 7.1l/100km average with the cruise control on at 140kph (and with some cheeky accelerations in the middle ahah). I'm currently doing a 7.3 average as i'm using the car for my home to work commute but I'm looking to remap it some day soon as I'd like those figures to be toned down a bit

What's cool that it has almost identical feel to it as my 2005 Astra has, exterior and interior-wise. This engine/transmission makes it feel like it's extra dynamic (more dynamic than my 90HP 1.4 MPI anyway, lol).
What was that top speed in MPH please? I have a Astra Sports Tourer 2021 Model ( purchased new ) with the three cylinder 1.4 petrol engine with a cvt gearbox, very good to drive and very economical. Having just watched a video of the new Astra ( mark 8 ) I will keep my current car as in my opinion it is has a nicer interior and better handling than the replacement excuse for an Astra.
We have the conventional torque converter version with a 136hp diesel engine. I believe top speed is not as high as this one, but acceleration feels better than this Also, GM should have never sold Opel to the PSA. They will probably ruin the brand if you ask me. Much like how VW group destroye Skoda and Seat. They are still good cars but no one will ever notice them since they do not really have some distinct features. I love this card, it uses a bit more fuel than it should be (since it is a diesel engine) but I setill like the car very much.
The speedometers are unfortunately very imprecise. I once had an insignia (160 hp) that displayed 230 km/h, the navigation system said 205 km/h ... with my old Vectra B it was only 5 km/h difference.
@@gky3019 it does indeed have an impact on the power output. But is a very little impact as the engine stays within it's optimum power range. The reason they do this is because it sounds a lot sportier than a constant engine noise at 6000rpm

On certain stretches yes. Limits are in force where traffic is intense, or where maintenance crews are at work. Every now and then there is talk about imposing a blanket speed limit like in the rest of Europe, as too many people are driving too powerful cars nowadays.
It's a CVT but because people prefer the feel of driving a car with gears (driving a car with a CVT is strange at the beginning) manufacturers emulate the way of functioning of a conventional automatic. It kind of defeats the purpose of a cvt but they sell more cars this way
Why would it? It's not that high strung, barely 100hp/l. There are far harder run engines that can last for a long ass time. Assuming this is engineered competently it shouldn't be unreliable or die quickly. As for electronics, well, the big components rarely fail, it's just sensors usually. Lol its 150hp and not even N/A.. forced induction in an engine what gets a lot more stress thanks to its constructionary fail, those 3 cyls at that displacement at that power and with even a turbo, they wear out fast as fuck. Also it has a lot of electronic parts that can get a short or anything and fuck up the whole engine, seen it before.. and i wouldnt talk about the engine control.. chain or belt driven, its not made to the stress it gets, because its not made for these engines, they are made for 10-15 year older engines. Also the body doesnt behave well in speeds like that with this bad weight to power distribution, not ratio. We talk about the fact that its a small but heavy engine producing more power than intended, the structure of the body isnt made for this, maybe if it would be back engine.. And i could tell you the reasons all day long. Just one more thing too. These cars arent that expensive, so get the conclusion what kind of materials are used for or in the engine, to make it affordable with really good equipment and good crash test results.

I have the same, just 2008 facelift, it has good acceleration but I drive it at 120 km/h as 140+ expenses are just too much
Interestingly this engine has CVT but 1.2 turbo 145 has manual. I would love to watch the other one as well.

Hi ; are there any problems such as piston breaking etc... which are chronic in the previous 1.4 T 150 HP astras?
I have 50000 kms in this car without a single problem and never heard anything like broken pistons.

Both 1.2 and 1.4 are 3 cylinders, the 1.2 was developed in Germany by Opel, the 1.4 is a GM design from Detroit, both are new engines
