    This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my whole life. There's something occult, a mystic magic that is derived everytime I listen to it and travels my imagination to older times when tales and sagas about heroes and wanderers were born in the lands of the north, making that past enchanting and that world far more interesting than the one we happen to live in today

    Dude, I loved that song.
    Then I completely forgot it existed. Several days ago I started humming this out of nowhere. I tried to remember its name, but couldn't. I kept humming this to most of my friends and asked if they recognized it. It was a futile attempt. But I feared not! as I knew I had added it to my favorites on Spotify. So I went through, literally, hundreds of songs to just to listen to this again. I can't tell you enough how happy I've felt when I could listen to it again. I had this huuuuge grin on my face for hours while this was on repeat. Masterpiece.

    Very cool that he's singing in a South-Dutch dialect like Limburgish. It sounds like an old variant of the language though, not contemporary, but I could be wrong. I love that I can understand the lyrics completely (with the exception of maybe 2 words), without the help of the internet or a dictionary. It's very similar to modern Dutch; compare this example of a Dutch translation: "in winters stille wit, in voorjaars gouden licht, in najaars bloed-rood". I'm Dutch and live in the north of the Netherlands, and wish to make songs in Old Frisian, Old Saxon, Old Jutish, Old Anglish (all Ingaevonic languages) and Old Dutch. All Germanic people are closely related and share a recent common origin. We are the "children" of the legendary Ingwaz and Ermunaz, and before them their "father" Mannaz and "grandfather" Tiwaz. Falkenbach inspires that connection. I would love to hear Falkenbach sing in Proto-Germanic, that would be rad, because it would inspire that connection even more and bring us back to when we were one!

      Yes exactly right! In an interview I read with Falkenbach he explained this song is precisely in an older form of the Limburgisch dialect that his grandparents spoke. His way of honoring them and preserving a little of their dialect.
      That’s awesome you can understand it. Do you speak Limburgisch then or a related dialect? I speak English, know some German and Dutch, and it’s cool to see the connections between the languages.

      That's great. At your age I was still about to step into the metalcore scene garbage. And if I heard Falkenbach back then, I'd probably think it wasn't cool and hip enough for me xD but then again, I was raised listening to underground rap, so I had to find real metal by myself, which can take a while.

    Not sure why “Eweroun” is translated as “Evermore” in English. It means “Ever on”, which completely works in English too. “Fuer ewer oun, en eweroun” = “Forever on, and ever on....”. The Limburgisch even sounds so close to English here ;-)

    • @Barbarosa1234
      @Barbarosa1234 3 роки тому +2

      @@Nlorgpipemusic810 Etymologically “Ewer” = Ever, and “oun” = on, so it’s more accurate to translate “Eweroun” simply as “Ever on” - which again works perfectly in English. “Evermore” is a unnecessary over-translation in my opinion.
