I like that chair and I'll bet it's so comfy. If you look at the mixer from the front, the black knobs on the sides are ears, the bolts are eyes, the hole is the nose and the engraved squares are his mouth. He would fit in with the Brave Little Toaster perfectly. My imagination is going crazy tonight.

I hate to say it but I remember a very similar switchboard at a company I worked for in 1967. 😮 Scott, you find the best vintage items, so many unusual things! Love that you got the chair. It’s pretty amazing!

my great aunt had a chair with that upholstery. i remember digging my fingers into it as a little kid.
That chair! In California that would be hundreds of dollars! The gorgeous deco tidbit/nut dish and lovely sunshine yellow McCoy vase are beautiful too. Great outing today! I do wish you could put that chair upstairs though. I just seems too grand for a basement rec room, but then we haven't seen your plans for down there yet, so I should suspend judgement. Will be interested to see the lovely plant stand painted and in full glory with potted and hanging basket of plants on your porch. Great find!

I am glad you got that wonderful chair. Gov Hochul advised us New York residents to stay inside today or wear a mask . It smells like a campfire in Albany!
My favorite fabric
Mixabeator, now that looks scary. That motor looks like the one atop the old dentist drill. Of course, wringer washers looked like monsters too. Grinding, rocking off balance, rollers creaking and turning, looking for the next unsuspecting set of fingers. We sure lived with some dangerous appliances. Toasters that glowed red and metal fan blades whirling just waiting for a finger sandwich. LOL!
I'm so glad you bought the chair! Philly must have a treasure trove of vintage and antiques. Makes me want to take a ride into the city.

Beautiful chair
Our family had an 80 room hotel in the 60-70's. We had a switchboard just like that! I remember learning how to use it..calling the operator to put a long distant call through.
Every single time I watch one of your videos I learn something! Thank you, you're a great "teacher". I've come to love the 30's and 40's and before and beyond so much more than I already did! I may not comment all the time but believe me I'm watching :) Here in Ft.Lauderdale we have Poverello that benefits our comrades with this dreaded aids virus. I shop there often to benefit our countrymen as we all need to help. Ok that planter box is to die for! The mixer looks like a Martian saying "O" o my quit teasing me with that! And the "Chair" what more can be said ! OMG! Your the best Scott!
Love the 1930s chair. I like movies from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s and I often find myself paying more attention to the decor and furnishings than the actual storyline. Love your style.

That chair is a peach!
When I was in college I had an on-campus job as a telephone operator. The equipment was a very outdated “cord board” switchboard much like the one in the video. It was actually fun to “operate”. The shell chair was a steal - and it’s gorgeous.
The mixer is almost skeletal.Amazing.I can see why you like it.Will watch the repair video.The art deco glass sectioned tray looks as if you could use it on a dressing table too.

Good old Oliver No. 3 typewriter. As usual, so many goodies to see. I'm happy you picked up the mixer. If you can unseize the motor it would work great as a paint mixer.
I would put the beautiful chair in a bedroom.
At 12:15 my gramma had one of those chairs. It was my favorite and I loved to be the one to get to sit in it. It was a cranberry color. Sho wish I had that chair today. So big and comfy

Oh, I love the chair. It looks so comfortable. Seeing the candy dish caught my breath away. My daughter bought me a green one for my birthday 2 years ago. It sits atop my antique desk. I keep my favorite wrapped mints in it. Thank you for the information on it. 😊😊😊

The TV reminded me of my grandmother's house in the 1960s and 1970s. Hers just sat there and didn't work, but man could it hold a giant Christmas cactus and some yucky jelly-filled chalk mints.

My favorite was the Pillsberry doughboy locked in an old birdcage😂 I want desperately to travel into Philadelphia and go to some of these cool places. They look like so much fun. I will be happy to sit in my Barcalounger while you travel into Philadelphia admidst the hussle and bustle and traffic jams😊
She was calling to you like a mythological Siren! So glad you rescued her, what a beauty! I used to work on a cord switchboard like that in a medical center. They gave us all a souvenir cord when they modernized into the current century. People were always so surprised when I showed them pictures of it. 😂
Wow, the chair is in beautiful condition! Great find. Here in WA state we have the smoke from BC, Canada floating down. Not nearly as bad as on the East coast right now. Stay safe & that mixer is so, so cool!❤
My mother has a few of those shell-type chairs in the living room. The detail on the woodwork is spectacular! Would love to see if you can get that 1915 mixer up and running again!
I REALLY want an old TV like the one from the first thrift store! Another UA-camr I watch has one similar that she had converted so that it has a new TV in it and it is totally usable. My Great Grandmom had a very large goldish yellow couch like the clam chair, I remember it wasn’t that comfortable but it was coo!

Great video - appreciate your narration - I learned a bit and it brought back some memories. So excited you got the mixer and the chair 🎉! I saw some similar chairs locally in Jacksonville FL at the antique mall but weren’t sure what they were - and now I know!

"Junking with Lou" uses your opening music for hers also, so it was interesting to hear the entire piece!---I'm happy you got the chair!!! And envious of that pretty crystal candy dish (which I have no use for, so even if it had crossed my path out here, I'd have to pass it by.)---I fear that your air quality likely got much worse after you finished editing this video...worse even than the worse of our local/distant California fires. What a tragedy for both our nations. Prayers are needed for an end to the suffering.

How can you tell how old the wicker is? What are signs it’s old?
Well there are certain construction details to look for. But mostly the design and form. I have been studying furniture from this era for many decades and I can just spot it in a second.
