Another task ticked off Charlie! I'm loving the green(?) cupboard too.
I'm speaking from experience when I say: if you can, put glass all the way across. All sorts of prep splashes are going to make their way onto those walls. The entire length of mine has a glass splashback, and I'm so, so glad I did. You could even leave the quartz in and just continue the glass up to the cupboards. Do consider it. 🙂

I have a quartz splashback and I have never had an issue cleaning grease or oil off it. I’m actually so impressed with quartz, it seems impossible to stain and gives the kitchen such a quality feel. I do like what you’ve done with the glass, it looks great. Looking forward to the rest of the kitchen videos

I fitted a large mirror in my bathroom, but I didn't realise that because the mirror is fitted to an external wall, when the mirror steams up it shows where the silicon is. In hindsight I would have fixed some insulated plasterboard first.

Is there anything more satisfying than measuring and fitting something millimeter perfect? Followed by the obligatory stand back and admire it and your own skills for a couple of seconds.

Arr, bless your cotton socks for pretending you might want to change the splashback in the future when we all know you'll do what the boss wants when she wants. 😂

I get glass cut locally & paint mine myself - doesn’t matter the paint except colour 🙂

I'd have tiled that whole wall between the quartz upstand and the wall cupboards, and also the splashback area up to the extractor. More cost but very durable and well chosen tiles look awesome.

Not concerned about anything going down the gap between the oven and the splashback?

Dob and dab silicone is deffenly the way to go. Line siliconing might not make contact if the wall is uneven. Another important choice, as you pointed out, is using low modular silicone. The regular cheaper stuff can and will destroy electrical components, i.e., extraction fan or some oven components from the silicone vapour

"Line siliconing might not make contact if the wall is uneven."
It all depends on how thick the lines are. :)

The idea of using screws with rubber sleeving is a good idea. I've replaced a mirror and it was held in place with clips on the top and bottom instead of silicon to hold it to the wall. What do you think of using some clips at the top to keep the glass from falling out? If you got or painted the clips so that they were the same colour as the glass then the clips would be difficult to see.

You could find that you get flies/insects behind the splashback if you dont silicone the edges

I know you’re channel is about the DIY aspect which is great but I have to comment that it’s sad to see an old period cottage stripped of character and made to look like a cheap bland new build

A splashback made from and matching your worktop would have looked miles better and blended in with your upstands

Please please please DON'T put any sealants between cookers and worktops or splashbacks. It's a FREESTANDING appliance and as a whitegoods eng I see them glued all the time. For cleaning and maintenance please leave it freestanding
