+Do It With Dan I am glad I see other motovloggers on random channels like this one. Makes me feel better about my UA-cam journey to these odd/awesome channels.
yoooooo anybody who watched the ORIGINAL video would know that THIS WAS ALREADY AN IDEA. BOOM [ unnecessary corrections from long time fans for the win B) ]
It's nice to see you make all this stuff for fun usage and are still right minded and don't use them for harming others, just shows this world still does have weapon engineers/blacksmiths who can make stuff like this and still be a good person
Hey man, I'm taking a welding class in school and one of the key things to making a better weld is structure, I recommend as well as my 40+yr teacher who is a veteran i the machining and metals industry, is to make little arcs back and forth across the metal, or circles, or small zigzags, once you see the glowing red metal, and you use those tips you can control it to make an insanely good weld.
I don't know how well it wood function, but your build males it appear both durable and absolutely eye-catching. The "zombie apocalypse" genre has birthed some wild missile and melee weapons, both functional and just cardboard "for fun" types. The creativity is just great and perfectly illustrates "necessity is the mother of invention".
Always loved the improvised nature of these videos. Not to mention the low cost. This video is a particular favorite of mine, although in my replication, i skipped the machete part and just used the saw blade. Much easier, cheaper, and disposable if lost or broken.
This is awesome! I am the first assistant manager in the hardware department at a Menards store, and have watched some of ur videos noticing our brands. Every time I see these products I see ways to make zombie apocalypse weapons. So this channel makes me happy haha.
+darronjknight The US actually uses 'customary' units, which is based on the same older units that the imperial system is, but is actually a distinct system of measurements, as both countries redefined their units in the 19th century, independently. The result is a very similar system but with slightly different unit values. Its commonly called imperial however, because people typically dont do the research to understand precisely why the USA is, in fact, number 1. Of course its understandable that most take it for granted given how obvious it is, but for a full appreciation of americas superior nature, i like to dig deep and find out just why we are so gosh darn better :^)
Amerikajin91 How would it not be illegal? weaponising things without a manufacturers permit (And without the intent of using it in a violent manner) is illegal. thats like selling modified machetes to people.
Neat or should I say cute project. Nicely done. Welding tip: Start with a tack weld at each end of your joint. Tack again at the center point between ends, then again between an end tack and the center, then the other end and center. Keep splitting the distance between welds, do first at one end then the other trying to keep the heat as far away from the last tack as possible. Eventually joining all of these tack welds into one long weld joint. This is especially useful when working with thin materials as it prevents blow through and overheating. You will also be able to turn up your amps and wire feed for better penetration on each tack. Tack sequence, 1-6-4-3-5-7-2.
Quick tip i learned when i started welding is cut or grind a bevel into the two pieces I'm welding together so that there's more weld material overall making for a stronger connection and it allows you to grind the excess weld off making it look cleaner without compromising strength.
I actually learn to weld about 2 months ago and got it first try, welding flat bar 10mm to make a seat frame. Something I was taught is to move left to right over the gap you're welding rather than travelling the length of it in a straight line which in looks like you have. I'm not sure if it is any different for you because the blades are possibly thinner than the flat steel I was using but I hope this helps 😊
I'm going to school for welding. most the stuff you weld requires a very thing wire and low amperage. you should spend about a day with scrap metal just getting the movements down. it's not a easy thing to grasp but just keep trying you'll get better. I love you videos so glad I found this channel!
i try not to discourage or criticise to hard so please take what i say with a grain of salt. im a veteran welder. been doing it ten years. get rid of the cheap harbor freight welder you have. its not adjustable. spend the money on a miller or lincoln welder. even a small one will be perfecr for your aplications. thin metal like what your working with should be tig welded. its sturdy and doesnt apply too much heat to warp your metal. but mig welding will suffice. secondly get rid of your harbor freight welding hood and buy a cheep auto tint by miller or lincoln. if you cant afford it get in touch with me and ill give you mine i dont use it much. also. stop wasting money on those flap wheels. flap discs are food for shinning up your weld. but never grind your weld flat. not for your applications. grind it to look pretty but leave the girth of the weld. use the flap wheel to clean up the splatter and round egdes and add the shiney sheen. also a cheap plasma cutter from harbor freight will help you alot instead of using a grinder to cut thin steel like you use. yes some money will have to be dumped and i get that you wont be able to buy it all at once. but keep trying. again want a good auto tint hood? let me know and you can have mine.
@@thenightmareofsatan6549 "Meat Motorsports he could literally blind us " Umm, no. +ZNA Productions damn. titanium is all I got for now but they'll work. I need to drill through a knife I just finished for the handle pins but in my haste I pulled it outta the forge and quenched it after the final hammering was done. Stupid me haha
try rocking the tip of the welding nozzle back and fourth between the two metals to get a consistent bead of weld going also heat of arch means alot to cold it won't bind the metal to hot it will burn through it.
about the 60 fps thing, no i think you lose that sense of motion that you get from the slight motion blur of 30 fps, i think 60fps works best for gameplay. anyways i dont speak for everyone, but if you agree thumbs up this comment so Eli can see it
butter bits get them from any locksmith distributed such as us lock or southern lock. the butter bits will drill through anything including hardened steel, which is what they are designed for
As far as the welding goes, try with a few scrap pieces of what youre gonna put the final weld on to get the welder set. I noticed the arc was kinda all over the place. When you're setting it up, look for a consistent arc, and honestly as weird as it sounds, listen for what I can only describe as bees in a jar when setting the sire speed once you get an idea of what kind of heat you need. Hope that helps!
Has any one ever told you that if you add a bevel to what your welding together will give you a stronger weld? As for the look of the weld after the fact I know guys (myself included) who still have to take a grinder to clean the welds up, so keep at it. The skill with the welded comes with time. Keep at it Laddy!
When you use a wielder. You want to try and make little 8 motions as you wield. It took me a long time to get use to that motion. I often got blobs or barely enough to work, but i've been getting better with it. Hope this helps.
welding tip my friend, when you make beads make small circles inside of each as you go left or right, VERY VERY VERY SLOWLY, welding isnt exciting, its like watching paint dry. i was in a welding class in highschool and all we did all day was weld on a sheet of metal to build material, and we did this both flat, horizontal, vertical and from above us. id recommend practicing that.
hey man, don't be discouraged by how your welding looks. welding takes years of constant practice. and those are actually pretty good considering your welding experience.
The macro shots/timelapses/building parts of the video look amazing in 60fps. The parts where you're just recording your face don't necessarily need to have the high framerate
your work is impressive advice I could give for welding if your still struggling with it is relax more when using the welder treat it more as a pen using the weld lines to perform flowing slow lines and constant practice I learnt on an old stick welder
Wow im super glad I found this channel. I do alot of this kinda stuff, and I actually do some basic forging. But im the opposite with the weldimg vs rivets. I grew up welding with my dad, and thats all I know. I still have never used rivets bt id like to for some builds, like helmets or whatever
Glad your channel is doing well. You should do a theme build. For example science fiction, fantasy, anime, or even a specific, game, movie, or show. Your builds so far remind me of Borderlands or Fallout so it wouldn't be much extra work. I would also love to see a PVC crossbow and easy/cheap to make bolts...maybe out of dowel rods, thin PVC pipe, Rebar.
hey when you weld thinner metal like that just keep overlapping tack welds and quench it often so it wont warp. and with mig welders you have to push the puddle when welding on thicker normal welds
great job! a tip for the next time you try welding something like this. Bevel the edges of the two pieces you wish to weld first to give you a groove to weld into. build up your weld inside the groove then use a grinder to take off any excess. also depending on your welder you may need to adjust your settings and wire feed speed if you're using a mig welder(I couldn't tell in the video what you were using as it was too dark). still a great build, keep up the great work and keep practicing on your welds
Trust me Eli welding ain't something that you pick up in an hour. I've been welding since grade 10 and now that I've almost finished high school i still cant get a consistent weld. But don't worry you will definitely get there. awesome build and i'm almost tempted to make a saw blade myself.
hey a good welding technique i learned is if youre welding two flat ends together grind a bevel in the conjoining ends and weld in the crevice and grind over it with a flap disk and it will look like one peace and you wont be grinding any of the weld that is actually holding them together
hello, i got some few tips for u when bending mettal, get a round steel tube, about 20cm in diameter, and use it with the piece of metal u wanne bend in a circle in your vise with a wooden hammer ( steel is fine to). and indeed just practise ur welding on some junk mettal it ain't that hard but it takes some practise. so gl!
Welding advice: Slow way down first of all. You need to make a little circle, making a small pool of metal. Once you have that little puddle of metal, make small circles spreading the pool down (along the connection line of the desired weld). Each circle should overlap about half or more of the previous circle made. Just remember, you are melting both sides of the metal and mixing them together. It looks like you are just welding down in a straight line, it is important to do arcs or circles to mix both sides of the liquid metal together. I hope this makes sense. Keep up the good work.
Don't be discouraged bro welding is hard to get the hang of. Just keep at it you can only get better And a lil tip try tacking ether end of the line to be welded on both sides of the 2 components you are joining to reduce the risk of separation of sed components
I've been welding for 7 years. A little tip slow it down a little bit and if your using flux core wire there will be slag covering it if your using regular wire u need inert gas to protect the weld from contaminants and porosity holes.
When you are welding try to do small circles down the strip of metal you were trying to weld together also try to get closer to it when you weld about 1 inch or two away
Btw for welding you should weld both sides because you are an amateur but once you get good and can achieve penetration when welding one side only do one side and then grind it down. If you want to know if you did it right, grind the weld bead till flush with the parent metals and if it holds you did it right
i recommend an auto darkening welding helmet...welding takes some time to get good at...if you have the opportunity to learn from someone who does it regularly, they can help you learn things you never even thought of
Glad I found this channel. Love this stuff!

Don't be discouraged bro welding is hard to get the hang of. Just keep at it you can only get better
And a lil tip try tacking ether end of the line to be welded on both sides of the 2 components you are joining to reduce the risk of separation of sed components
I've been welding for 7 years. A little tip slow it down a little bit and if your using flux core wire there will be slag covering it if your using regular wire u need inert gas to protect the weld from contaminants and porosity holes.
Also do a little U motion as ur welding to widen the bead
The weld didn't look horrible, I'd recommend learning spray transfer, it's easy to pick up and looks quite nice.
When you are welding try to do small circles down the strip of metal you were trying to weld together also try to get closer to it when you weld about 1 inch or two away
wow you are really young yet so skilled
Btw for welding you should weld both sides because you are an amateur but once you get good and can achieve penetration when welding one side only do one side and then grind it down. If you want to know if you did it right, grind the weld bead till flush with the parent metals and if it holds you did it right
i recommend an auto darkening welding helmet...welding takes some time to get good at...if you have the opportunity to learn from someone who does it regularly, they can help you learn things you never even thought of
