- This 94 and 89 year old senior nomad couple who live full time on social security n their diy rv camper built on a tractor trailer has got to be one if if not my very favorite interview to date.
Mr. Bernie and Ms. Lois are the sweetest couple you could ever meet. Aftrr they retired in 1995 they traveled the country ajd even beyond as volunteers helping to build churches and other buildings as needed. Miss?. You can't just call her Lois . This is a form of ageism. And Mister? Bernie.
No Carla. This is a sign of respect. My parents are from the South and culturally in the South you show respect for your elders by addressing them as Mr. And Ms. My daughter is 20 and she always refers to older folks as Mr and Ms. It is called good home training!! I personally find it pretty outrageous for a 5 year old to call a 50 yr old by their first name. Guess it just depends on how your were raised
I'm a man from Britain and I love the respect that is shown to this lovely couple and could not agree more!
This is respect that seniors deserve.

I think it is polite and quaint, which is pretty surely appreciated by people from their era. Had they not liked it, they would have said "You can just call me Lois" or whatever, and it never would have made it into the video. My oldest sister is a year younger than Lois, and is happy to be called whatever you wish, by anyone who takes the time to talk to her. Our parents didn't mind being addressed by their first name, by anyone within a generation or so of their age, but generally did prefer the Mr/Mrs treatment from anyone younger than that, or anyone they didn't really know.
I'm 73 years old, a Vietnan veteran and raised to call seniors Mr., Mrs., Sir, Ma'am by my parents and my Marine Drill instructors. Ms. Carol addressed them appropriately. They earned the respect!
Ask them what they want to be called instead of making assumptions

I grew up old fashion, too. 63 almost. But these days as long as good intentions behind the greeting, I am pleased. I like ma'am or Miss or Mrs but not Ms. 😅 Ms sounds like a bee buzzing..since pronounced mzzzzz.😅

I did the math and they both were closer to 50 when they got married. Bernie would have been over 50. I’m 39 and still single but felt a glimmer of hope after watching this. I still would be younger than them in 40 years. Though not by much.😳😊

I hope I can do all that until I'm 100 and my beloved wife will go right along with me as his dear wife has also. And then the Lord will return and our new home will be in Heaven❤
What I appreciate is their zeal for life. If you do the math they got married in what some would say is later life. They built their home, went back to school for a new career, and continue to live active lives. Very inspirational!

We are a 6 figure income couple and had very little saved and not much cash lying around the preverbal".
'...don't have $500 for an
emergency" that was us. The big thing was debt all kinds of it, cars mortgage (although our home isn't a high price one), student loans for our kids, and of course credit cards.
One day we just got sick of being broke and went total scorched earth and became frugal overnight. Paid it all off, it took almost 5 years but now we have no debt and this year our savings rate is 50% on basically the same income that had us perpetually broke. So for us it is mainly staying out of debt and watching our spending, at first it was a real effort to save in our HISA and 401Ks but now it's actually fun watching our money grow. No car or vacation or neighborhood is worth being broke or financially unstable.

I was surprised too. But this couple have been loving fulltime in this trailer for nearly two decades if my math is right and it is holding up really well, especially considering they have had it up and down the road for quite a number of years. Maybe it is a God thin given the lives they have ked and people they have helped???
I love this couple and this build 94 and 89 it has a lot to do with work to he is constanly busy and takes care of her and she went back to school in her 50's to be a nurse I would love to meet them They inspire me May The Blessings continue to go with them always.❤

Thank you Cindy. I cannot tell you how many times I have met people who just seem to be really special. There is a kindness and gentleness coming from them and then I discover they love the Lord and realize that was what I was sensing.

The funniest thing with social security, if you fruitful and you're smart, you can live off that money these 2. This couple is living proof of that a lot of people can play and I can't live off that money it's because you want to buy big things and live like the Joneses but if you live simple like these people all like myself you clear off your social security and live very comfortable. It's a matter of just living within the means it can be done.
It can indeed be done. They seem to he very sensible with how they spend and manage their money and as Mr. Bernie stated able to manage quite well.on their social security. They made a great choice living on BLM.land for 7 months out of the year for only $180 and not having to pay property taxes utilities.

Social security is desert replace 40% of your income so it's not surprising that people who don't have other income or significant savings may struggle. I wouldn't assume most of these seniors are just fools. 🙄

Here's to hoping we're still out there doing things we love, by those ages! Pretty unlikely, because those two made it further through the sieve of life in great shape, than most of us will.
A 30-something relative recently had surgery, and says the anesthesiologist could not get over the fact that here was a patient in half-decent shape, not falling apart, not on lifetime meds, not on recreational drugs, not an alcoholic, not depressed, not abused, not with any risk factors at all for anesthesia and surgery.
Apparently it's becoming a challenge to knock someone out for surgery without risking killing them, due to how poorly they take care of themselves. It has kept me from opening the next package of cookies, so far! But I do have to use up my last 4 "Free Junior Frosty" coupons before the end of the year. ;-)

I am still amazed at the drywall! I wonder if that trailer doesn't bend and twist like RVs? I've had worse luck with drywall in CA, because of the ground moving under the houses so much 😏

What a couple!! I so enjoyed this interview and tour of these special people. Driving this huge truck by itself would be hard enough but pulling that RV too is more than I can comprehend for sure. I am an older woman but nothing like these two. He gets so bored that he wants to cook and clean too. And Miss Lois is a jewel too and lets him do what he wants to do. I think I just felt a spark of energy to do a lot more. Thanks Carol so much.
