@The Question Queens: First, I want to say 'thank you,' again, for the sincere and honest way you have approached this song. Many people, including reactors, only go to the surface level and get the basic information about this song. But you went deeper than that, and as a result, despite knowing what you knew, still had the pure and honest reaction that we saw.
It has been said that only those who have dealt with a lot of pain, or turmoil, or chaos in life, are able to express for others what they have felt. Edgar Allen Poe, who wrote originally "The Pit and the Pendulum," lost three of the most important women in his life all to the same disease (though I cannot recall what that disease is, at this current moment). Because of this, he became a very depressed, even at times, raging alcoholic as a way to numb the pain he felt. Yet he was one of the most prolific authors in American history. He was the father of the modern detective story, as well as writing horror and suspense.
I use him as an example to show how much many of us go through the same kinds of struggles, particularly struggles of the mind. I once said that I know what the dark pits are like, what facing internal demons that look like myself is like, and how it is a struggle to put those demons down so they don't rise again. Yet, as you say, you've never dealt with something like that, despite your own health issues -- but at the same time, you have such empathy and compassion to not only truly understand what Tuomas was communicating in Poet and the Pendulum, but that you _felt_ what was being sung, what was being said. And you have been honest about how it has affected you. Now, I know you would probably say that you don't know of any other way to act or to be, being a reactor, but many times, I have seen reactors not be honest, even when they don't like something, or you can tell it affected them, but they would prefer to keep things such as their thoughts to themselves. But to go one step further, it takes communication of some kind to understand other people, and I have found that when a person is honest in that communication, then a level of understanding is reached that otherwise wouldn't be there.
I say a this because you truly do not have to apologize, because you did not do anything wrong. Everything you did, in your reaction, I daresay was good, wholesome, pure, and right. And we understand how it affects you, because for many of us, we also similarly feel how you have, in listening to this song. You have nothing to worry about, because we, the viewers (congrats on 15K subs, by the way!), see and know and understand if you have to take time to process a song such as this. I will also say that as someone who struggles against the dark, I am very happy you have your own release, your own method of catharsis to release the emotions you felt. Because many people don't have that, and when they don't, they feel overwhelmed by the emotion they then begin carrying. It is why I keep my own inner demons at bay by helping others to understand what they may be dealing with, because many times, I have an understanding of the nature of the darkness many others do not -- and by communicating my understanding, my hope is, that maybe, just maybe, I can show others a light at the end of the tunnel, and show them a way out.
As for The Greatest Show On Earth, I recommend the Tampere 2015 performance, because it is truly special. And I think, if my observations have been any kind of accurate, that The Greatest Show On Earth will make you feel a sense of outright awe and shock, given it is an ode to this planet we live on, and it is a song where Tuomas took 4.2 billion years of history and musically condensed it into 24 minutes. Afterwards, I highly recommend listening to All the Works of Nature: Ad Astra, because Geraldine Butler, a British actress, narrates a small essay by Dr. Carl Sagan called "Pale Blue Dot" that drives home, at least for me, how vast and awesome the universe really is, and how small we are in comparison to it. That there really are some things more important in this universe that we really should think of sometimes, but we don't.
Lastly, Debbie, I am very glad you were able to simply take some time to process what emotions Tuomas evoked within you. As the sign during Wacken said, Tuomas gives us these things we feel, because he believes in showing us parts of our own nature that we may not know or understand ourselves. And he does so in such a way, through the medium of music, that what he shows us, we cannot help but connect to.
See you in the next one, dearest Debbie.

Tuomas is an exceptional songwriter and his parents sound like such good and kind people. Sadly Tuomas' father passed away recently. But Tuomas said that Tarja sent him a message with her condolences as soon as she heard. And that he felt very touched by that. It sort of comes full circle that way and old wounds do heal.

Losing my own mother a few years ago, I definitely can sympathise and I hope he's doing OK under the circumstances. That being said, I'm very happy to hear that Tarja contacted him! Perhaps this can be the first step, so that something good eventually can come out of something very sad?

I hope you will listen to the song again to appreciate Tuomas' genius of the music itself.
He has said he wants people to take their own meaning from his music - not just his intentions. The parts of the song each have such a spectacular effect, and Floors singing must be appreciated.
I now find it comforting because we all have pain, anger, loss, and need soothing, and at the end it says "The Beginning," which is HOPE, in our lives. It has it all.

I think Nightwish tends to attract empaths, because you don't just listen to Nightwish and go 'cool riff', you feel Nightwish in the deepest parts of your being. When you watch reaction videos of Nightwish it's really obvious when some just hear it as opposed to feeling it - but no one, in my experience has felt it more or expressed it so profoundly as you Debbie. The whole 'We Were Here" part, acknowledging the fact that in the end, we're all going to die (I mean humanity) and it will all be over. Hey, Debbie
Did you know that Floor is a High Sensitive? A High Sensitive is very sensitive to others emotions. They can be in a room and when someone walks in they immediately know their emotional state. And they're very effected by others emotions. They take on the emotional state of those around them. I'm a High Sensitive person myself. That's why I relate to Floor so well. ✌&❤

The man is an absolute master of words and the fact that he isn't even a native english speaker just makes it more impressive. Btw, i would recommend everyone who goes through some kind of darkness to write stuff down, whether it's through poems or a diary or whatever else. Putting your thoughts, your sorrows and troubles, your darkness and demons on paper really has a cleansing effect.

The part where Tuomas is singing along hits me in the feels so much. You can tell he's going through some serious emotions while performing this. It was awesome to see Emppu and Marko go over and check on Tuomas during the song...and stand next to him during the closing moments too. Floor doing those cries at the end really hit me hard too...I try but cannot for the life of me stop the waterworks from coming. These thoughts from you are so precious to us. I think we - your followers - have given you a kind of new perspective in life - music can be so intense and giving, feeding your mind, soul and thoughts with deep thoughts in ways that you didn't imagine before you started on this YT journey - and met +15.000 people in an eye blink. People from all over the world, talking to you and SHARING this passion for exceptional music and exceptional artists. And you are so strong with words - you put words, abd explaining on exactly how Tuomas - and the othets affects us.
    Thank you for that.
    Fun facts:
Tuomas had the technicians kill Floor's voice in his earplugs during the ending, to be able to keep his focus. And that's fantastic - he can sing along, and feel it - but Floor's voice will for certain destroy him - and he knows it!! She is able to tell his story so emotional - in fact so strong - that it will hit too hard.
This is artists on a level so high, that the rest of the music world should take lessons.
    And
The Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere 2015) - this is completely different - especially the speaking afterwards the song, should create some deep thoughts, and give you a perspective of life and us - but you will experience yourself.
And on that one, you really need us to fill in the details. That song is over 600 soundtracks mixed into the song!!! (average is 30 - 60).
You might consider a double reaction, because the Wembley 2015 version is a little different - including the ending!!

Oh, Ms. Debbie. While I can't agree more with what everyone else has said about your feelings towards this song, I will say this. One of the things you will now see from the rest of Tuomas' writings going forward after the Dark Passion Play album is that you will see that the muse for his songs no longer are geared toward or relied on a particular person. For example, the entire album after Dark Passion Play, called Imaginaerum has songs based on different poems (Walt Whitman), Disney, and even a rollercoaster. In short, it was the beginning of Tuomas finding other things to be his muse instead of a person.
The Greatest Show on Earth is a huge opus; not at all like the Poet and the Pendulum, which was really dark. Instead, it is a completely different opus altogether, and one that requires a fair amount of research. The one thing I will say about it is that you will find two versions of this song being performed. One is at Wembley Arena (where The Poet and the Pendulum was recorded), and one at Tampere, Finland. I would suggest to do the one at Tampere, and then go back to the one at Wembley, because while they technically are the same song, how they are performed and how the song ends are completely different. Tampere is more of the staple for that performance, so you'll be better served in seeing that one.

It really comes across how much you actually care, and you're not just putting out videos for views to make some money/get "famous" - you are actually being respectable of us fans, and I feel like these little videos are especially for us, not for the whole internet, (even though obviously they are 😆). Idk, but you make it feel more personal, I guess?
Like you didn't even need to do this video; a lot of others would have just left it as a crying video for the views, but it's so much more respectable of our time to then do this. I just like how you're doing things and think you will go far with these reaction videos.

I mostly try to be a bit witty with the every member of the nightwish army bit - but tpap ain't no joke.
Tuomas wrote this song and basically killed himself in it so he wouldn't have to do it in real life. That's as deep as the Mariana Trench. Like Van Gogh cutting of his ear for the love of a woman deep.
But at the other side of the spectrum - no matter how dark and painful this song is - what an incredible achievement by an artist to capture all this pain, all this suffering, all this hardship and put this into a masterpice of musical art.
