This is my first reaction to Nightwish performing The Poet And The Pendulum. Link to the original performance: • The Poet And The Pendu... Love you, Sabina
And he sang chorus 2 times before she noticed - I guess she was just mesmerized by Floor + Marko sang it in a perfect tone, blendig with Floor's voice really well
Your NIGHTWISH journey has barely started...keep going, you will not regret it, ever! I'm a 66 year old musician from the U.S. , just discovered them early last year and I have and still am blown away by this band. Cheers! 👍
I'm only 49 :) , I loved Floor since After Forever (2000) and Nightwish since her joining them in 2012. I went to a Nightwish concert in 2018 and it was great.
66, and only found out about them earlier this year. I haven't stopped listening to them since, and I never will. The Post and the Pendulum - oh God... Seeing them in the UK next year. Already got the Human Nature hoodie. Looking forward to it so much.
Interesting fact - from the line "now I only have 3 minutes and counting" to the place where all the music stops and you hear the heartbeat, it is exactly 3 minutes. Such is the genius of Tuomas' composing.
This is what Nightwish and floor embodies: "The argument between the glass half full or half empty misses the point; The glass is refillable, and sometimes overflows."
@@JariJuslin unfortunately, when an artist of the musical capacity of Tuomas doesn't like the sound of his own voice, no one can convince them to use it.
The most cryptic and labyrinthic song for someone who doesn't know the background. It's a masterpiece but I'm sure Tuomas is happy that the memories of those times are fading...
The most amazing thing about Nightwish is this. Any artist, no matter the media, work hard all their lives, and may produce one piece of art that moves, that inspires, that awes us. And when they reach that level, they are at the zenith of their accomplishment as a human and artist. Nightwish does this routinely, making music that touches the heart, the soul and the mind. I am very jaded, especially about metal. But they make me feel young again, vital. Their lyrics and music cut to the heart of my human existence. And in their efforts I can look at the human race in a different light. To not be so bitter, so mean, so hateful of the ignorant people of this world. I can see the light, the beauty, the amazement that we have as human beings. Some sense of connection with this planet and humankind. So, is there a bigger gift that any artist can give to me and to you? I say nay. Appreciate them as a special gift you and I have been given, savor it, and in its consumption, we make the world a better place, even if only in small ways.
I will keep this short , This song is about Toumas Holopainen (keyboaed & Composer) his depression after the firing of Tarja 1st singer and backlash from fans . Its an on stage suicide instead of real life. the last part (Mother & Father) is what his real parents said to him & at the very end Marco (Bassist & Singer) Emppu (Guitar) are standing next to Thoumas for support at the end
i just read an article where Tuomas was interviewed for book, this is what he said "i never tought that i would harm myself. i just felt as bad that you can only imagine for 6 months" article was released today 2 hour's ago.
@@sabina1118 That beginning of , The Poet and the pendulum , reminds me every time about , Walking in the air , Nightwish cover with Tarja . Here live from Tampere 2000. ua-cam.com/video/OA8xIfZHU-g/v-deo.html 4 min 57 sec Singing style is different from Floor , when Tarja is trained Opera singer . Floor is what is called a "highly sensitive person". It means she is extremely perceptive and sensitive to emotions but it also gives her the ability to express these emotions. Can you tell...?
You are right, that's magical. The modern Mozart, Tuomas Holopainen, composes and writes 95% of the Nightwish music and Floor Jansen, our Valkyrie Queen, is a power of nature. She has such an incredible stage presence that you just can't get your eyes off her, from the moment she steps on the stage. Then she begins to enchant you with her voice and it somehow resonates within you. She captures your soul and you will just gladly follow her with a stupid smile on your face. That's how she gathers new ranks to her Army.
"I feel like crying or laughing...not sure" That's the point in a suicidal journey where you decide to go on, the moment you know you will keep living. You cry because you know you will have to live with the pain, and you laugh because you recognize that you have hope beyond it no matter how small. You don't have to decide between crying and laughing. You do both because you have to. The emotions must come out. Nightwish captured that journey in this piece.
To start a Nightwish journey is a wonderful experience, even better there is no end....I.m 76 years old and still going....Great reaction, hope to see you in New York....
"I call this the Goosebump Marathon.." Oooh....Sabina.....The Greatest Show On Earth awaits! 😋 ❤️ 😘 Floor has that effect on people. She radiates love. She's part Xena Warrior Princess, part Queen Galadriel. I think even Mr Kudaibergen would be in awe of her.
This is what Nightwish does with us. So recognisable speechlessness just after the song finished. Enjoy the ride with the next songs. TGSoE is a good next one. Take the Tampere version for the impressive production and setting. And make sure to watch it to the very end, including all credits.
"ehhmmmm..... Holy...." We know, we've all been there. Not only is Marko, the bass player singing, he's doing it while playing one of the more hectic bass parts in the song. He's a great singer who had his own band (Tarot) together with his brother, where he was the lead singer. Before greatest show on earth I suggest that you listen to "The Islander" from Tampere. It's Marko doing a solo performance. And for a different side of Floor, yet again, "Your's is an empty hope" Live in Mexico City.
Completely agree that a few others from NIghtwish's impressive back-list should be listened to before moving straight into The Greatest Show on Earth, will appreciate it even more!!
This song was inspired by the dismissal of their original lead vocalist Tarja Turunen. All of the different movements essentially represent all of the different stages of grief Tuomas (the keyboardist and main songwriter for the band) went through during that time. This particular song is the first track from their 2007 album Dark Passion Play, the first album they released after Tarja's dismissal.
Hm, it mainly represents all the hate that Tuomas received from the fans. It’s not so much about grief, but it was the fans that gave him lots of hate and drove him in the depression. The dismissal of Tarja itself must have been difficult for him, but he had long seen it coming so he was prepared for that. What he wasn’t prepared for was how the fans turned against him and took their anger out on him.
About Floor Jansen, you said, "Her love." You have that very correct. She posts UA-cam videos of her life in Sweden on a property with her animals (horses, a cat, I believe, a dog?). In these videos you see her shining at home. Thriving. And that springs from a core of love. Then you see her in interviews and she is calm and humble, eager to give a good and accurate and meaningful answer to the interviewer ... because she loves her work, loves her fans, and even loves the interviewer and wishes to help them make the best show THEY can. And, finally, you will get around to her performances without Nightwish on the Dutch TV program BesteZanger in 2019. In one episode a man told her she was a sweetheart, and she touched his face playfully. She exudes love at all times and in all things. I am eager to share your discovery of more Nightwish music, but also of more Floor beyond the band.
I suspect you will get told to check out "The Greatest show on earth" at Tampere 2015, but I look forward to you reacting to "Dead Boys Poem" from Buenos Aires 2018. Great reaction by the way.
I would highly recommend you do The Greatest Show on Earth next to finalize the holy trinity. If yiu then want to see Floor growl "Yours is an empty hope" from the Wembley show. Great reaction, keep it up!
No one is a more appropriate or better fit for Nightwish than Floor. And it's not just that she's a perfect fit personally but she's perfect also vocally. No better singer for Nightwish.
The name of the Male singer in this one is Marco. If you like to hear him sing try "The islander" tampere version (its a treat) "The greatest show on earth" is not a bad song. xP It's inspired by a book with the same title, written by richard dawkins. Its about science and everything.. cool stuff You might like it.
Nightwish doesn't play songs. They perform stunning artistic masterpieces that wreck your soul. No one else writes and performs like this. No one. The waves you see in the background are direct references to what Tuomas regards as his ocean soul. His is a soul that embraces the immensity of this existence, always on a search for meaning, comprehension and truth. Damn, it's in almost all of his lyrics. You are one of the few who gets it, Sabina.
Scientists call this kind of emotions a "Floorgasm" - I think you can imagine why. For recommending songs performed by other Nightwish singers, well... I highly recommend "The Islander" live at Tampere, "The phantom of the opera" with the first singer Tarja or the cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes". I recommend these three because my personal favorite singer of Nightwish (besides Floor) sings them: Marko, the bass player, which you heard already in this song. 😅
I would just like to say. Thank you for your, thus far, two Nightwish reactions. They are perfect, you are perfect. You show us a very vulnerable side of you, and you show us what emotions this evokes in you. I love this band so much, and I love the emotions that I didn’t know I could find in music, and I love that I get to share it with everyone reacting to these songs for the very first time. It is a privilege to be part of reactors’ journeys in Nightwish, and it is how I feel about your journey too. One small recommendation, is that the “big three” (Ghost Love Score, Poet and Greatest Show) are all the heaviest hitters of Nightwish and their repertoire. I would advise you to listen to something else *before* Greatest Show. Otherwise, when you have listened to the “big three” you might have a sharp turn in what Nightwish is in listening to them afterwards. I recommend listening to one of the more, how do I say, fun songs first. My personal favourite is “Storytime” (wacken 2013), but other good recommendations are “Nemo” (wacken 2013), “7 days to the wolves” (wembley), “I want my Tears Back” (Buenos Aires - she was ill here, I believe, still a smashing performance). By no means is it awful to start with some of the best songs they have, but expecting to be, heh, Floored every time after that is asking a bit much. :) Thank you for being you. Love from Skåne, Sweden
Thank you so so much for this wonderful comment ❤️❤️ I am so happy you feel that way - thats the point of doing this: ti share the love of music and the emotions with like minded people so we Can enjoy the music together and connect. Also Thanks s lot for the recommendations! Notes taken ❤️ Lots of love
I do believe they are special in so many ways, and Floor is just so down to earth. She is someone that I would love to get to know. Tuomas has the kind of depth that I can relate to, but his level of genius could place in complete awe.
You are so correct about Floor. She has it all, a commanding presence (183 cm), overwhelming charisma and stage presence, graceful and aggressive stage movements, a world class storyteller able to bring such emotion to the lyrics, and oh yeah - she has an incredible vocal range and control! On top of that she is a wonderful and caring woman who loves nature, animals, and especially her fans. I am many of us all love her more than we have words to express it. The next singer should be the original singer Tarja. You will love her very operatic vocal approach. This song is all about the departure of Tarja from the band. It sent Tuomas into a severe depression. All sexual references in this song are used as metaphors for what Tuomas was feeling. You said it beautiful lady. This is a masterpiece of musical art! I loved your reaction and analysis of this very special composition. I felt the same way as you and still do every time I watch this performance. Thank so much for allowing me to relive the first time through your eyes my friend. I could see you starting to get very emotional during "The Pacific" when Floor sang in that very high operatic style. Once you learn more about the breakup with Tarja and all of the negativity that Tuomas had to endure for dismissing her from Nightwish, this song will be even more emotional. He put this song together to cope with his mental anguish and to bury this episode so that he could move forward with his dream that is Nightwish. This song was his way of dealing with the various emotions such as anger, sadness and suicidal depression. At the ending, I think Floor's haunting chant is emanating from the grave which is where Tuomas ultimately buried his emotions in order to regain his stability and put it all to rest. They may never perform this song again live? He still has a hard time listening to the lyrics and has the sound engineer remove the vocals from his monitor mix. It took me several days to recover my emotional stability after first hearing this song. I totally understand your emotional reaction. I look forward to your next Nightwish reaction Sabina. After this one you deserve a happier song my friend. I respect your role in dealing with depression of this sort and working to help others. Well done and stay positive and safe. Peace and love.
Thanks a lot ❤️ Thanks you for sharing this - I am very excited to see more. Their music is so much more than music - it’s a journey. And this song blew me away.. the story behind makes it even more intense. Also I am happy to day that I no longer deal with depression, which is why I’m now helping others do the same ❤️❤️ lot of love!
@@sabina1118 So happy to hear that you have conquered your depression my friend. Being the artistic soul that you are, it is only natural for you to go through some ups and downs. I am also musically inclined and have my moments as well. As the saying goes, "Most artistic people suffer from manic depression from time to time". It helps to inspire us to create by allowing us to experience the darkness of real life which is always out there trying to get in. You are an Angel lovey lady and I am sure that many of the people you help love you dearly. Keep up the good work Sabina. I hope to see you very soon for another beautiful reaction. Peace and love! 💖💖
Hi Sabina, Great reaction. This song is indeed about depression, the depression of Tuomas to be exact. This song was wrote by Tuomas Holopainen (Keyboard & Composer) after the band had to fire their 1st singer and he was so depressed he committed on stage suicide instead of real life . The last part where she is sitting with Emppu & Marco that verse was words said to him by his mother & father in real life, & at the very end Emmpu & Marco stand next to Tuomas for support. IF you want more Nightwish ideas : - Song of myself - Wacken 2013. - Storytime - Wacken 2013 - Everdream - Wacken 2013 - Yours is an empty hope - Live at Wembly arena (this one gives you another idea what Floor can do, not going to tell what :-) ). - Greatest show on earth - Live in Tampere - Weak fantasy - Live in Tampere If you want to listen to the newest studio songs of the last album Human || Nature : - Music - Shoemaker - How's the heart (here you can do two reactions in one time, first listen to the studio version, then the acoustic live version from planet rock). I think this will keep you of the streets for a while :-) Take care and stay healthy.
Very nice, respectful job. Thank you. "Ghost Love Score," "The Poet and the Pendulum," and "The Greatest Show on Earth" are considered the big 3 Nightwish epics. Doesn't make other songs less, they're just shorter. ;-) It's really a deep well of wonderful music, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years.
Good evening from Australia. Your reaction was very interesting. Most people have been told to look at history behind the song and you did it without knowing what it was about. You picked up how personal and emotional that song is. The feeling in it is huge! As for Floor, I saw a Dutch show (can do English or your language closed captions) about the Rockademy she went to. The first half is about class friends while she just sits still and listens. Then they do her story. Watch that - in private, no cameras. And remember the box of tissues. A sold out stadium and most important people in the show for her were her parents. Even Floor broke down when she saw the story they did. And on a separate note - the Islander definitely. Shows how Marko can sing. Romanticide has them both singing a lot. For Shoemaker you need to know who it was written for and basics about funeral and urn. I love Elan, really good vibe there. Storytime is also great. Then.... anyone think Sabine is ready for Yours is an empty hope? The Tampere version is very good too, as well as Wembley version. You may find a different side there. Wonder what you will say of that one. Thank you for helping people with depression. In my own way I try and make a difference every day too. And I really respect people that have been in the depths before and help others climb out.
Beautiful reaction, even after 100 times this masterpiece still brings me to tears. I hope you continue to enjoy your Nightwish journey and we shall see you in New York 2021. 🐺❤
Nightwish leaves me exhausted and spent. I love the music but don't think I'd make it through an entire concert. They are too much. I'm awed at their talent and they give everything to their music. Thanks for your reaction. (Patricia, Jerry's wife)
I love how people are mesmerized when they see this performance for the first time. ❤🤗👍 Or perhaps I should say, "When they are Floored by this performance." 🤗😊
That's a pretty good description of Floor's voice. I know you didn't mean her voice as such, but that voice *is* is like a big, energetic, yet caring mother, embracing you when you need love, kicking your arse (still with love) when you need a good kick to get going.
Hello Sabina, such a lovely reaction! Well done, we can see the emotions playing across your face as the story unfolds. Do carry on with your Nightwish journey, it is worth it. You will see each artist showcased in this band's wonderful discography.
I saw Nightwish for the first time in 2018, but I missed all the US dates and decided to get tickets to their show in Paris. It was amazing!! I also bought tickets to see them this year in September, but because of the pandemic, it was rescheduled to October of 2021. I hope you get to go, from what I have heard, in Europe they play much bigger venues and in the US they play much much smaller venues. That I don’t understand, but it should be much more intimate.
OK - so you are fully engaged with Nightwish now. You've reacted to two of the "Big Three". You might as well go ahead and react to "Greatest Show of Earth", Tuomas' third masterpiece and another epic journey that tells the story of the earth. I strongly recommend the Tempere live version for the shear amazing production in front of a "home" crowd in Tempere, Finland. Make sure to get the full "long" version (which is about 21.5 minutes long) NOT the 17 minute (4k updated) version and watch all the way to the end of the credits. THEN go back and react to the rest of the Wacken 2013 set. MUCH more Nightwish to enjoy and be blown away by!
You can swear, sweetheart... most of us do when we listen to this stuff... it's just that awesome! But now I really must insist (as I did after Ghost Love Score) you MUST bring Henri in for some Nightwish reactions... you surely can't deprive her of this after introducing her to Dimash!!
The only way I can describe Nightwish, They grab your spirit/soul and off you go on a journey, never to be the same again, in a good way. I'm at a loss for words to go further.
Marko also writes lots of music, too. Some say that Tuomas Holopainen has poetic lyrics full of metaphors. Marko sings "Rocks. More Rocks": ua-cam.com/video/ifc3gBsM6B0/v-deo.html
The scary thing is Floor is actually getting better, wait until you see her Beste Zangers performances. It's reached the point that her fans expect her to do something spectacular in every live performance and she almost always does.
@@ugk1106 Until the end...and get a version with text or google it before, in this song lyrics is 90%, there is a reason the video is so long. I can't wait, because I know you will love it, especially after hearing your comment here near the end, that we are in it together.
The Greatest Show on Earth really is just that. Both versions Wembley and Tampere are AWESOME !!!! You need to go right to the end in both versions . NIGHTWISH lift our souls during this pandemic.
Speechless is the reaction for the most people☺️ poet and the pendulum is a great work written by tuomas (as most of the songs are) , there is a whole story behind it. Marco, the bass player, is a wonderful singer also. If you react to the greatest show on earth, please us the “Tampere” version, it’s epic! Great reaction, hope to see more from nightwish!
Sabina-I have watched many Nightwish reactions. I can’t stop. The way you do it with written comments and suggestions without pausing is awesome. It keeps us in the flow of the music. Thanks so much can’t wait to continue your journey.
Something about three lead singers. The leed singer is Floor since 2013 oficially (since autumn 2012 as guest) Previous the had Anette Olzon 2007-2012 and before that Tarja Turunen 1996-2005. But you also may say the have still three singers. Floor as main singer, Marco Hietala on bass (as you heard in this song) as second leed singer and Troy Donocley (not in songs you reacted) as third leed singer. Floor is leed singer in most of the songs, Marco in many songs and Troy in some songs. And in some songs they share leed time more equally. Depends on what suit most to the song.
Great reaction and commentary, thank you Sabina. I can't wait to enjoy your future experiences with this band. Try Storytime, Song of Myself, Romanticide and I Want My Tears Back, they will give you some different flavours. Take care and have fun :¬)
I totally understand how you're feeling! Nightwish connects us so deeply and personally, and at the same time so universally. Poet and the Pendulum is a really powerful composition. In one way or another we all battle with depression, and giving voice to that deep hurt can become a powerful step towards healing. Thanks for your reaction, and take care.
Great reaction to Tuomas' masterpiece of catharsis and composition. Floor sings more of the vocals than on the album version, as she can hit those high notes that were previously sung by choirboys, and which Anette could not manage - Floor apparently offered to sing the opening passage as well, but Tuomas preferred that it be left sung by the boy soprano chorister, who is credited but whose name I forget. I'm sure you can look it up but if I open any more browser windows or tabs on this underpowered laptop I'm going to crash the browser or at least run out of RAM and start paging everything through the hard disk and grind to a halt. This song may never be performed again - it is extremely emotionally tough on Tuomas to perform, as he is now in a far better emotional place and does not really wish to revisit painful memories. That difficulty is why early in the song, you see Emppu (lead guitar) go over to check on him - a Finnish speaker with some lipreading skill gave a rough translation to me of "how are you feeling?" "OK". Then at the end, both Emppu and Marco (bass and male lead vocals) the two remaining members of the band from the period to which this song refers, stand around Tuomas in support of him. In that whole last section, he has the sound tech turn off the vocals in his in-ear monitors, as it is too painful. Also, when the spoken part says "three minutes and counting", check the timestamp and see what is at the end of that three minutes! Compositional and theatrical genius at work. Floor naturally channels emotion and is very sensitive to it. The huge range of singing styles she uses allows her to express it far more than any other singer I've ever heard. Just wait until you hear Floor, Marco and Troy (the British multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire and third current lead vocalist of Nightwish) singing in three-part harmony! You have yet to hear Troy, as he is not present in either of the two songs you have heard so far. He is present in "The Greatest Show On Earth", although the video producer shamefully neglects his singing, which you have to look out for in the background of shots aimed at the others. With decent audio quality, which you appear to have, you should be able to hear it quite clearly though. You have chosen to go in deep from the start - most people new to Nightwish leave this and TGSoE until after they have explored more of the shorter songs and gained more of a broad spectrum of what range of music Nightwish perform and some of the performances by previous lead singers.
The World is finally catching up with NIGHTWISH. I was going to see NIGHTWISH in L.A. California in September, but it was rescheduled for Oct. 2021. DAMN Covid19. Your reaction was right on track. This is one of my favorites, and only a dead person would not feel the power of NIGHTWISH.
For the Greatest Show on Earth, the Tampere concert is recommended with subtitles as there was for Poet. I greatly enjoyed watching your various facial expressions as the score progressed. 😄🤘
Really enjoyed your reaction, the use of on screen text rather than pausing really kept the flow of the song while still letting us know your thoughts - and your words afterwards were fantastic. I've sub'd for the NightWish journey, and you should check out all their songs, particularly live, starting with Wacken 2013, Wembley (this show), Tampere, Buenos Aires and End of an Era show with original singer Tarja 🤘
As you know, this masterpiece deals with the depression Tuomas felt following the split with Tarja, but the beauty of well written lyrics of course is the way the listener can empathise with their truth, can superimpose their own struggles into the words, the song can become part of them too in a deeper way, forevermore even. We have all lost something beautiful at some point or will, all fought with pain and loss, all struggled to find a beginning again in some way, faced darkness, felt trapped as a whore for the cold world and yet been comforted. Music is one of the greatest comforts known to humanity. It was well documented that Floor too had been suffering with burn out / depression before the magical union with Nightwish brought her back to her true potential from a temporary wilderness and it makes it dually satisfying to listen to her sing this so amazingly. I adore her and the way that Nightwish fans have shown her so much love. It makes me proud to be a fan. I have loved Nightwish for many years and I love your comments and reaction. Thank you. I feel like commenting on all the NW reactions you have made, I have watched the half dozen you have done a few times now. You bring a very sweet and positive energy with pure feelings of awe and appreciation. :) There are a number of parts in their songs that always force the emotion inside of me to the surface, the ending to this is one. P.S. I also like the way you put your thoughts on screen instead of having to talk over or pause the emotion mid song, and save the analysis for the end, I think that is a great way to do it.
Wonderful reaction, Sabina! I loved watching your face as you came to understand what was going on in the music and lyrics. Thank you! I completely understand your reaction and I feel the same way.
Thank you, very nice reaction, it's obvious that you really feel the emotions they wanted to share through this song !! Enjoy your journey with Nightwish, expect a rollercoaster of emotions :-)
'The Greatest Show on Earth.' One of their best works. Their masterpiece in my opinion. And yeah Sabina I agree. Covid sucks. I really miss going to live shows.
Oh yeah! TGSOE. Do the Tampere version, and please do some research so you know what the song is about (and don't stop until the very end). Soooo much more to discover about Nighwish, Floor, Marco... Enjoy your journey. I did. Next suggestion: Dead Boys Poem - Live in Buenos Aires 2018
Very nice reaction. Each NW song is a journey and each brings emotions... frequently several in one song. Enjoying being able to take the trip with you! Consider 'Romanticide' or 'Your's is an Empty Hope' with Floor next. You will see other facets of her voice talent. Stay safe.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish! Lt. Commander of the Nightwish army southern Iowa U.S.A. contingent reporting.....loved your emotional reaction! Cheers!
Great reaction. Most people adivise just 3 songs. Ghost love score, Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth. But they have tons of other epic songs. I would reccommend: I want my tears back (Buenos Aires) and Yours is an empty hope (Wembley). If you want to enjoy just Floor I suggest you start with The Fantom of the opera from the Dutch show Beste Zangers (Best Singers). Nightwish is the best and Floor is out of this world.
Wow Poet straight after Ghost Love Score. You my friend are real. No build up, no hype, straight into it. This might be the darkest song they've done. Due to the band past issues and drama..
I feel similarly about the band, and how their stage presence makes it feel like they're one with the audience and everyone's in it together. Nightwish's music is hugely life-affirming. I think it's also a quality you'll find with a lot of hard rock and metal bands like Iron Maiden, Sabaton, and Band-Maid. I love all types of music, but there's just something about this heavy music that gets people to rally together, support each other, and have fun.
I agree with the commentaters that you will soo much love it! Do the version from Tempere! And this song is special to me because it is telling about when they fired the founding female lead singer Tarja Turunen. She was very special to Tuomas and he was grieving the loss. There are five stages of grief and the transitions are telling of these stages. The band lost alot of fans. He felt betrayed. He felt suicidal but did it on the stage in this song. When he made the motion of cutting his throat that was it. I lost two sons in three years, so I can empathise. I havent hit the acceptance yet so theres no comfort. Like the last part when Floor sang comfortingly. EverytimenI listen to this song I pick up elements I havent heard before.
Could see your emotions in your eyes. I can truly understand you. Welcome onboard as a Nightwish fan. The Greatest show on earth live from Tampere / Finland up next then. My first show I attended - an experience I cherish for the rest of my life 🙂🤘 takecare..looking forward to your next reaction. 👃
Hi Sabina! Since you have already done two of the holy trinity, you may as well do that last one next! The Greatest Show on Earth has a version from TAMPERE that is outdoors on their home turf and truly epic. STRONGLY recommend that one for you to watch. (There is a recently released version from Wembley that includes a live narration by Richard Dawkins, however that can be watched separately if you like, the Tampere version is significantly better.) Also, watch to the very end credits! The song is about evolution, so keep that in mind. From purely a singers perspective, you might want to start exploring Floor's performances on the Beste Zangers TV show. Talk about versatility! The finale of The Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort is unreal. Have yourself a wonderful day!
Beautiful reaction. I enjoyed watching you facial reactions, watching the tears well up in your eyes at exactly the same time that I was fighting back tears. The artist in me, I am a landscape & abstract artist, just is drawn to their music. The heavy metal and hard rock enthusiast is drawn to the power of their music. I have been "into" the genre since I was 8 years old...yes...8 years old back in 1965. My best friend and I used to listen to Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Black Sabbath with Ozzy, Nazareth, Grand Funk Railroad, etc. That was 55 years ago, and my taste in music is still pretty much the same, as I listen to heavy metal while I am painting. It allows me to focus...always has. Even in High School and all the way through college and graduate school....I listened to heavy metal to focus on studying and writing my research papers. ( Which was the reason I had headphones to listen to my music! My mother never appreciated my choice in music. ) I cannot wait until you listen and react to "The Greatest Show on Earth!" I would also suggest a group from the 1970's called "Electric Light Orchestra".... Their music is different from bands of that era. My favorite album is called "Out of the Blue." You might also check out one of Elton John's albums that is really different than his more "pop music" LP's. My late father loved this album ..he said if Elton John had been born in the 1700's....he would have been the most famous classical composer ever. If you have not listened to " Blue Moves" you really need to! The song "Tonight" is fantastic and very emotional. Keep up the great reaction video's... you're so "real" and it's like sitting down to listen to music with a friend!!!
I'm quite blessed to have discovered when they were just starting. They've been my band ever since. Yes Tarja was amazing. I was broken by her departure, and it took me a while to get back into Nightwish, until Floor joined. It has been a hell of a ride ever since.
Thanks for having me remind this beautiful amazing song 😍!! Had the album « Dark passion play » from 2008 (and so only knew Anette’s version; thanks for this Floor’s discovery though) and heard it so many times (huge fan of Nightwhish and had the chance to see them twice in concerts)! Welcome back to this beautiful world and have an amazing moment during this journey 😘! Love 😘😘

Great reaction. Well said, Floor conveys so many emotions with her voice, just like a mother can. And her facial expressions are amazing. I am sure you are going to discover that she is capable of much more, even in completely different settings
"He's also singing?" This, like most questions about Nightwish members, only has one answer. "Yes."
🤗
And he sang chorus 2 times before she noticed - I guess she was just mesmerized by Floor + Marko sang it in a perfect tone, blendig with Floor's voice really well
Your NIGHTWISH journey has barely started...keep going, you will not regret it, ever! I'm a 66 year old musician from the U.S. , just discovered them early last year and I have and still am blown away by this band. Cheers! 👍
Thanks! I Will not stop!! Hugs 🤗
Ha, I'm 63 and I discovered Nightwish 1998, just after they releaseed Oceanborn. And guess what, almost 22 years later, I'm still fascinated by them.
58 here, and been a fan since the first album. Amazing talent!
When Tuomas sings along "Try to save them all", it breaks me every time.
if i have somehow managed not to drop a single tear before that part, it happens there every time i watch this
And Tuomas actually *can* sing. He sung the male parts on their first album.
Amazing piece!!
The generic theme of this piece isn't that complicated to pick up on.
Thanks for sharing!! 😍
You did a GREAT job keeping that "short and sweet" without losing the salient points!!!
i just read an article where Tuomas was interviewed for book, this is what he said "i never tought that i would harm myself. i just felt as bad that you can only imagine for 6 months" article was released today 2 hour's ago.
Toumas also don´t want to hear the lyrics in his earpices on this song becouse it gets to him.
@@sabina1118 That beginning of , The Poet and the pendulum , reminds me every time about , Walking in the air , Nightwish cover with Tarja .

That's how she gathers new ranks to her Army.
... And I, for one, welcome our new Dutch Valkyrie Queen overlord...
"I feel like crying or laughing...not sure"
That's the point in a suicidal journey where you decide to go on, the moment you know you will keep living. You cry because you know you will have to live with the pain, and you laugh because you recognize that you have hope beyond it no matter how small.
You don't have to decide between crying and laughing. You do both because you have to. The emotions must come out.
Nightwish captured that journey in this piece.
*NIGHTWISH* = (ARE/IS) *PURE LOVE/MOTIONS AND JOY* !!
To start a Nightwish journey is a wonderful experience, even better there is no end....I.m 76 years old and still going....Great reaction, hope to see you in New York....
Ah! I am the same age. I thought I was the only one! I believe they are the greatest Band on earth!
"I call this the Goosebump Marathon.."
Oooh....Sabina.....The Greatest Show On Earth awaits! 😋 ❤️ 😘
Floor has that effect on people. She radiates love. She's part Xena Warrior Princess, part Queen Galadriel.
I think even Mr Kudaibergen would be in awe of her.
And again. I could stare all day long at your wonderful reaction face...and that smile. Nightwish got you again :)
This is what Nightwish does with us. So recognisable speechlessness just after the song finished. Enjoy the ride with the next songs. TGSoE is a good next one. Take the Tampere version for the impressive production and setting. And make sure to watch it to the very end, including all credits.
Thanks I Will!! 🤗🤗🤗

@@allenhuling598 I concur, I would also recommend Romanticide and possibly some non-Floor performances to space out the two epic journey performances.
No need to use past tense. Tarot is alive
Welcome to the Rabbit hole! Every Nightwish song is very different, yet is unmistakably Nightwish.
For you The Greatest Show on Earth, definitively.
Thanks!! That’s noted!! 🤗
Both are fine by me.
I will second this.. love both of those performances!
Come Cover Me from Buenos is a must as well, some magic in parts there.
I would highly recommend you do The Greatest Show on Earth next to finalize the holy trinity. If yiu then want to see Floor growl "Yours is an empty hope" from the Wembley show. Great reaction, keep it up!
The piece of art "Poet of the pendulum" makes one.. grown man.. touched for tears.. always.. Real masterpiece!
This is the second Poet and the Pendulum reaction video I watched in a row tonight. I have tears flowing all through, both times.
No one is a more appropriate or better fit for Nightwish than Floor. And it's not just that she's a perfect fit personally but she's perfect also vocally. No better singer for Nightwish.
❤️
Tuomas songs need someone like her, with her voice spectrum and her charisma. It's just a perfect fit.
The name of the Male singer in this one is Marco.
If you like to hear him sing try "The islander" tampere version (its a treat)
"The greatest show on earth" is not a bad song. xP It's inspired by a book with the same title, written by richard dawkins. Its about science and everything.. cool stuff
You might like it.
Master Passion Greed from the album Dark Passion Play... Marko owned that one!!!
"not a bad song" ... well, that's one way of putting it.
Personally i believe the islander is not a bad song, and the greatest show on earth is the masterpiece
the cover by them of pink floyd's high hopes, shows his voice of even better i feel
i second this. Especially if you like to be surprised. Marco sounds .....a tiny bit different in the islander than he sounded in this video :D
I swear whenever I see Tuomas singing along to the words of his mother some ninjas are cutting onions in my room
Oh! You have that problem too. . . . . . . .
Thank you for being you.
@@sabina1118 You continue to be Floored!
I do believe they are special in so many ways, and Floor is just so down to earth. She is someone that I would love to get to know. Tuomas has the kind of depth that I can relate to, but his level of genius could place in complete awe.
It gets me every time, the way Empu and Marko go hang with Tuomas to make sure he’s okay.
Every person watching this song performed by Floor is touched someone in the deepest corners of their soul. She just does this
You are so correct about Floor.

- Storytime - Wacken 2013
- Everdream - Wacken 2013
- Yours is an empty hope - Live at Wembly arena (this one gives you another idea what Floor can do, not going to tell what :-) ).

- Weak fantasy - Live in Tampere

- How's the heart (here you can do two reactions in one time, first listen to the studio version, then the acoustic live version from planet rock).
I think this will keep you of the streets for a while :-)

Very nice, respectful job. Thank you. "Ghost Love Score," "The Poet and the Pendulum," and "The Greatest Show on Earth" are considered the big 3 Nightwish epics. Doesn't make other songs less, they're just shorter. ;-) It's really a deep well of wonderful music, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years.
The holy trinity. :D
Thanks! 🤗🤗 I’m so ready for more!!
Floor has said she takes the energy of the audience and puts it into her vocal and physical performance. Excellent reaction.
Floor the world class empath.
"The Pacific, gets me every time. There are tears at the sheer beauty of her voice , along with the chello and violins. Masterpiece.
The only way I can describe Nightwish, They grab your spirit/soul and off you go on a journey, never to be the same again, in a good way. I'm at a loss for words to go further.
Well said Sabina! One person that didn't need the full back story to FEEL what was going on through the melody and the lyrics. Great job.
Marko is a fantastic singer, he has been the lead singer of Tarot since 1985 !!

Sabina-I have watched many Nightwish reactions. I can’t stop. The way you do it with written comments and suggestions without pausing is awesome. It keeps us in the flow of the music. Thanks so much can’t wait to continue your journey.
Something about three lead singers.
The leed singer is Floor since 2013 oficially (since autumn 2012 as guest)
Previous the had Anette Olzon 2007-2012 and before that Tarja Turunen 1996-2005.
Take care and have fun :¬)
its the way Floor colours her voice when she sings it conveys the emotion. The greatest show on earth will blow you away.
Awesome Reaction!!! YES SHE'S MISS FLOOR JANSEN QUEEN OF METAL 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Im new to Nightwish. I've heard all three singers and I love it all. Its all Nightwish and its all fantastic.
Most emotional majestic art ever
Wonderful reaction, Sabina! I loved watching your face as you came to understand what was going on in the music and lyrics. Thank you! I completely understand your reaction and I feel the same way.
Thank you, very nice reaction, it's obvious that you really feel the emotions they wanted to share through this song !! Enjoy your journey with Nightwish, expect a rollercoaster of emotions :-)
Just 💜... si keep on rollin this Beautifull Nightwish Train Lady 💥🦉💜💎👑
2:03 - "The end"
14:34 - "The beginning"
In between those two points of time lies the entire journey.
This song is a emotional rollercoaster..she is amazing
Wow Poet straight after Ghost Love Score. You my friend are real. No build up, no hype, straight into it. This might be the darkest song they've done. Due to the band past issues and drama..
I've probably heard this song 100 times, it still makes me cry...
Love to see your emotions while listening to this song with out stopping the video great job done ❤❤
My mother never appreciated my choice in music. )
I cannot wait until you listen and react to "The Greatest Show on Earth!"
I would also suggest a group from the 1970's called "Electric Light Orchestra".... Their music is different from bands of that era. My favorite album is called "Out of the Blue."
You might also check out one of Elton John's albums that is really different than his more "pop music" LP's.
Love 😘😘

You call it a goosebump marathon, we call it floorgasme.
Great sound, insert placement and size, added comments...this is what a reaction page should look like. Kudos.
Great reaction. Well said, Floor conveys so many emotions with her voice, just like a mother can. And her facial expressions are amazing. I am sure you are going to discover that she is capable of much more, even in completely different settings
The verse "In the end I will always love you" gets me every time. Very emotional song. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very emotional indeed.. amazing song
she takes care of us all, and pampers us with her voice,... when she say's it's oke!,....it is oke!...the music and the band i will love it forever...
Awesome reaction Sabina ! Thank you and keep Nightwish reactions coming ! Love from Greece !
