  • Corrimony Cairn is a 4000 year old structure built by our ancient ancestors to record an event which happens every 18.6 years. The event is called the Minor Lunar Standstill. The moon is an incredible anomaly and has a cycle of 18.6 years. I will put a link explaining more of the lunar cycle below.
Corrimony however is not unique in this part of Scotland, although most of the other cairns passageways have collapsed over time. This ancient monument is highly significant to understanding these peoples beliefs and what is clear is their observation of the world around them not only the plants, animals and the seasons but the celestial bodies!
I love this site and I tried my best to explain and show the site but it wasn't easy!
Thanks for watching and reading this!

We love your channel ! Magical spot. How mystical. I guess we shall never really know the stories that were not passed down ….for reasons that are too sad to speak of. So I suppose somethings we will have to create our own understanding. And try our best to show these spots and these stories to the young ones now. Big job! We truly appreciate your channel so much.

We love that place. I lost a drone there. Flew it at the cairn and it fell from the sky. £400 for repairs.
It is a great little site and hardly visited compared to others. Perhaps we will not get parked there next time LOL

Great video! I too am interested in documentation of the alignment at Corrimony. It would be amazing to get photos/video at the next minor standstill (if the trees allow). Some have claimed that it has a cross-quarter solar alignment. Either way you don't have to wait years for the moon to the get to the right range (although trying for that is worthwhile too) but you can check the cross-quarter alignment any year on February 2, 3, 4 and November 7, 8, 9 and the lunar minor standstill alignment with the sun standing in for the moon (adjusted for parallax for the latitude of the site) on January 21, 22, 23 and November 19, 20, 21 of any year (weather permitting of course). Good luck!

Magical place. The moon may not line up these days but I’m sure it will still be beautiful & I hope you get to experience it when the time comes. So happy you hunt around for these places off the beaten path & share them with us. Much appreciated♥️

I'm kinda aware of that but also hopefull as the standstills are supposed to be the moons most extreme positions, but im an infant when it comes to these cycles so we have to live and learn! Thanks for your comment bud much appriciated!

I think the study of the moon and astronomy let our ancestors know when it was the time to plant the crops which they would have infused into their religious practices. Nice site thank you for another good video 😊

I have surveyed all the Clava-type passage cairns and ring cairns and have videoed and photographed the sun and moon rising and setting in line with them. However, the Corrimony passage cairn is not aligned to the setting minor standstill moon.

Hobbits lived there confirmed lol. Honestly tho love how everything goes back to Sun and Moon worship. Not the worship of human-like gods but just the natural world. Its how it should be imo, after all without these things we would not exist. Without the trees there is no air for us to breathe, without Sun there is no food to eat etc. Makes sense to give thanks to the things that actually bring us life not all this modern world bs...

Another beautiful video. I wanted to let you know if you didn’t already, there are other ancient sites in different parts of the world that have stone buildings with passageways to align the beams of the moon.
A little video on the site.
