You have literally the best taste in books omg. Usually when I watch book recommendations, I take down one or so, but I write down nearly all of the ones you recommend and LOVE them when I get to read them!
A non-fiction book haul on a cozy Sunday morning - I already have my coffee ready to go - with 26 books? YES. Just yes. I love your non-fiction book hauls so much!
I'm so glad that I subscribed to you!! These stories all sound so good. I haven't read these, but they all sound so interesting! I my check out most, if not, all of these out!
I have been falling more in love with nonfiction than even previously since watching your channel. Thank you for all the recommendations! Will have to check out Romantic Outlaws since Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is a book I researched and wrote extensively about in undergraduate years especially looking at the impact Milton had on her and her works in relationship to Percy.
Wow, a truly solid nonfiction book haul! Loved the variety here, too. I’ve heard of a lot of these but never read any fully. I’ve read several portions of The Silent Spring, but I too am yet to read it in its entirety. Seinfeldia, Automate This, and Romantic Outlaws are also ones I want to get to sometime! :D
Hi Olive! I have been enjoying your channel for awhile. I am finding myself loving non-fiction more and more since joining your channel. I have always been a nature lover so many of your recommendations have spoken and continue to speak to me. I recently purchased a handful of books from your non-fiction recommendations - Seeds, She Has Her Mother's Laugh, Unseen City and When Breath Becomes Air to name just a few. Thank you for your engaging style and welcoming ways! I feel we could have a cup of coffee and talk for hours! Continue to do what you do - You are fabulous at it!
I only read The Otter's Tale from this list, and I loved it! I hope you will also enjoy it very much. And I'm definitely interested in a lot of the other titles, especially the ones related to nature!
Hope you enjoy Ghost Hunters. I picked it up a few years ago, because it sounded intriguing, and ended up really liking it. So informative of the topic and time period covered, and fun to read as well. I should probably read her other book since I liked this one so well. Not sure why I haven’t 🤔
That's an interesting Nonfiction haul. I know that I will always find at least one or two of the books your book hauls (usually many more) to add to my TBR. I'm really curious to read: I'll Be There For You by Kelsey Miller (I've heard of it but haven't gotten around to reading it yet), Aquagenesis by Richard Ellis, The Reef by Ian McCalman, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey, The Otter's Tale by Simon Cooper and The Rarest Bird in the World by Vernon R.L. Head . Happy reading to you!
I really enjoyed On a Farther Shore, it was so wonderful to learn more about Rachel Carson the person. Really into some of these microhistories you have, for some reason those just always seem so interesting to me. Apples? Cows? Sure! :)
I loved The Otters' Tale - a great blend of non-fiction and fiction! I recently got Melissa Harrison's Rain as well, so I am looking forward to reading that one.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really hope you enjoy Romantic Outlaws as much as I did, both women are such fascinating subjects! I'm obviously drooling over the nature books (The human age!!) and Silent Spring is a book I hope to pick up soon too, I have only heard praise for Carson's writing on nature in general.
The Secret Life of Cows is such a beautiful book. Come from a farming background so had an idea of cows’ behaviour but this book made me cry and love them even more.
The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating interests me. Not only do I find snails fascinating, but I can relate to the author, because I was bedridden for 2 years and homebound for 3 more.
The list sounds very interesting and I will have to watch your video again in order to write them down (when I buy books again). Different thing, considering that you are such an avid reader of non-fiction, would you mind doing a non-fiction bookshelf tour so we see which non-fiction books you have a nd kept and get some inspiration. Happy New Year
New Olive, who dis?! What a glorious book haul!!! I'm pretty sure you converted the world onto Non-fiction. I read The Reef and I absolutely loved it! You will have a great 2019 I can tell
Great picks! There are several titles you mentioned that I have never heard of and am very interested in checking out. The Human Age, Silent Spring, Aquagenesis, Secret Life of Cows, Monster of God, and The Rarest Bird in the World all sound absolutely fascinating. I myself am a huge fan of science/nature, and evolution books as well as books on the subject of animals. I highly recommend Author - Sy Montgomery, her books are beautifully written. She gives a great look into the life, science, and soul of certain animals. I myself just picked up one of her titles called The Soul of an Octopus. Very fascinating indeed. Anyways great video, new subscriber here!
This is a very exciting book haul. Extra Virginity is fascinating and you will love The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating. I'm actually reading it right now. Can't wait to hear what you think of the rest.
ohooo, so many I want to go buy. Ghost hunting, olive oil, otters! I am really interested in nonfiction about food. So there are several I'll need to add to my nonfiction tbr!
I read The Secret Life of Cows as per your recommendation for Nonfiction November. It is really delightful, interesting, short, and often funny. Lots about the farm's philosophy where this book takes place. Other animals besides cows are mentioned. I have my phone opened to Goodreads to add books as you are talking on my laptop. Interested to hear your fiction books as well. My husband raises pheasant and quail to distribute throughout our area for hunting but also to help when the natural population is decimated by weather. Difficult to populate quail in our area but I love listening to them whistle. We used to have one stand on a doorway ledge inside their large cage that would whistle every morning. My husband has brought them in to our library and over to neighbor's houses to introduce them to kids. They and the pheasants are so fun to watch and beautiful!
I added some of the evolution and bird books to my tbr. I'm currently reading Mind of a Raven by Bernd Heinrich. If you haven't picked him up, I'd highly recommend him. He's written many books on birds. He mixes science with his own observations on the birds.
I've read "Ghost Hunters" it's a pretty good read. "I'll be There For You", I've added this to my to-read list. Silent Spring is fantastic. It was required reading for an Environmental Crime course I took. Richard Ellis wrote an incredible "Encyclopedia of The Sea".
Really enjoyed, Nothing is True and Everything is Possible by Peter Pomerantsev, Rain by Melissa Harrison, The Secret Life of Cows by Rosamund Young and The Otter's Tale by Simon Cooper. I have met Simon twice now, and got my copy signed.
@@abookolive I'm almost done with the first book of the series and I really like it. There is a lot of science information that goes over my head but I still enjoy the plot and the characters :)
So many books! I hope you enjoy all of them. I am currently reading A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman. The writing is lovely and I am enjoying it. I do think I would prefer something more "scientific". For example, she states that smell is the oldest of all the senses, but cites no research or studies. I did not know that interesting piece of information and would have loved more about it. I googled it and read a little further. I am also reading one of your recommendations,The Man Without a Face by Masha Gessen, and am loving it! I just bought The Triumph of Seeds and Feathers, both by Thor Hanson, The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery and Lab Girl by Hope Jahren. I put I Contain Multitudes by Ed Young on my Christmas wishlist and was gifted it. All due to your recommendations, so I both look forward to your nonfiction videos and dread them! (Not really).
There are so many books in this haul that look right up my street as someone who is studying marine biology at university this could be dangerous for my bank account too many books about the oceans and animals, also all the books on evolution when I have just started a module on evolution. I hope my library has some of these otherwise I'm going to be poor from this book haul.
I was very disappointed with The Secret Live of Cows. I found it too all over the place and also too esoteric at points. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to what you will have to say about it.
Hi! I get a lot of recommendations from your channel! I’d like to give you one of my own, non fiction and nature related! “The penguin lessons, what I learned from a remarkable bird” by Tom Michell. It is one of my all time favorite books.
According to the DNA test I recently did, I'm of minor Russian heritage but I'm really just very interested. I spoke about what got me into it here: ua-cam.com/video/OLyMMyBDEtg/v-deo.html
Great list, I'd like to read some of these! Currently reading www.goodreads.com/book/show/18222705-deep I find it fascinating. I don't know if you have read it/heard of it, but I highly recommend it!
Opening a new Olive video in the UA-cam tab and Goodreads in the other because the way you describe book makes me want to add them directly to my TBR!
This is the one of my favorite things to hear as a Booktuber! 😁❤
Exactly what I'm doing. In fact Amazon on the other tab to add it to wishlist!
The otter, rare bird, and look big books i just purchased on amazon thanks for the ideas😊
I'm so glad that I subscribed to you!! These stories all sound so good. I haven't read these, but they all sound so interesting! I my check out most, if not, all of these out!
Yaaas!! Though I’m primarily a fiction reader your non fiction hauls give me life!!
😁😁😁

I LOVE Sound of a Wild Snail Eating. One of the best nonfiction nature books I’ve ever read. Such a great haul of science and nature related books!

Thanks Olive, great recommendations as always. I love your nonfiction videos.
Read and absolutely loved the Wild Snail Eating... quick heartfelt story I know you will love it! Quail sounds super interesting!
I have Romantic Outlaws and hope to read it this year because I love Frankenstein! Wonderful haul, I love animals and so many books on animals!
I love your book hauls with non fic. I have a tbr list on my notebook called Olive.
The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating interests me. Not only do I find snails fascinating, but I can relate to the author, because I was bedridden for 2 years and homebound for 3 more.
Extra Virginity sounds intriguing for sure. Very interested in the Rachel Carson bio as well. And those evolution books! Great collection, Olive!
The list sounds very interesting and I will have to watch your video again in order to write them down (when I buy books again). I love all the natural science books! Please keep them coming :)
A full 26 books to hear about from Olive - a perfect video and start to the day. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on these!
My family and I loved That Quail Robert. It was definitely one of our favorite read-alouds.
Huzzah Hammerhead! Look Big caught my interest right away - I love books that give tips for situations that I will (hopefully) never encounter. 😅
So many interesting books. I don't know where to start!
Always the best nonfiction recommendations
Interesting list of books. I'm very interested to hear you think of The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating.

👋Olive 🌻The book that I want most from that pile is The carpenter book. My brother in law is a master carpenter.
I love the books you pick up to read. Where do you find all your wonderful selection of books?
A non-fiction olive video means my non-fic tbr list is about to get 20 books heavy
Oh my, my nonfiction TBR is already overflowing. But I'm going to have to check out Hammer Head and Automate This!
I empathize, trust me! 😂 There are so many on my TBR...
This is a very exciting book haul. Extra Virginity is fascinating and you will love The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating. I'm actually reading it right now. Can't wait to hear what you think of the rest.
I read The otter's tale last year and thought it was fantastic. Hope you enjoy it as well xx

Wonderful. I get much inspiration of reading watching your videos. I want specific summary of a book or a story...from you.
I was going to suggest The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating and then you picked it up. It is a beautiful book.

I was one of those who voted for non-fiction yay! Nice video! Please again make videos about fiction - non fiction pairs to read together 😊😊😊
I read I'll Be There For You for Non Fic November, it made me so nostalgic I had to watch a couple of episodes afterwards, hope you enjoy it :)
Aquagenesis sounds interesting. I love learning about marine life.
So many books I like the sound of!
Romantic Outlaws is fabulous!
Ghost Hunters sounds quite interesting!
Oooh I really want to read Romantic Outlaws now.....
The Silent spring is mentioned in the Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, which I'm reading right now :)
Oh, good to know! I think my husband wants to read that one.
@@abookolive I'm almost done with the first book of the series and I really like it. There is a lot of science information that goes over my head but I still enjoy the plot and the characters :)
ahh so many new books to check out, thank you!
Of course! ❤
Hammer Head sounds wonderful! One of my sisters is a carpenter so I may even send her a copy too!
I have a feeling she'll get a kick out of it if she's a carpenter herself! I cannot wait to read it.
Oh no, more books for me to add to my TBR. What a shock. I can hardly believe.
In other news, OLIVE, WHAT IS THIS SWEATER AND WHERE CAN I GET ONE‽ ‽
So many books! I hope you enjoy all of them. I am currently reading A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman. The writing is lovely and I am enjoying it. Your vocabulary and way of speaking is rich and eloquent..must be all the reading hahah
It helps!

Have you read another of William James' books, The Varieties of Religious Experience? If so, what did you think of it?
I've not read anything by William James.
How many books have you read ever done
Not non fiction but have you read The Bear and the Nightingale? I read it recently and the whole time was thinking you might enjoy it :)
I have! I read it nearly exactly a year ago & really enjoyed it.
Okay so I really need to ask because I've been wondering for a loooong time: are you of Russian heritage or just super interested in Russia??
According to the DNA test I recently did, I'm of minor Russian heritage but I'm really just very interested. I spoke about what got me into it here: ua-cam.com/video/OLyMMyBDEtg/v-deo.html
very well done :)
Thank you!
I put 'Extra Virginity' on my Amazon Wish List. It sounds like a very intriguing read.
Great list, I'd like to read some of these!
Currently reading www.goodreads.com/book/show/18222705-deep
I find it fascinating. I don't know if you have read it/heard of it, but I highly recommend it!
