    Don’t need dry bags with pack liner most likely and poncho with rain coat and pants may be overkill. Just my thoughts.

      @@angelajuneau7457 Thanks Angela. Yes I think I overpacked on water prevention front! I am going to leave the back pack cover at home.

      @@Walkwith_M I found the back pack cover essential. If you took that you could leave all the dry bags home. My Gortex jacket was also essential but I didn't use a poncho or waterproof trousers.

      @@greersansom5290 Thanks for the feedback. Yes, tricky. I heard the rain cover for the bag was useless in heavy rain / got heavy.
      Wish I didn’t buy the dry bags but done it now. Things we learn.
      I think I might have got the sleeping bag liner wrong too / September too cold?
      I have added a fleece to this pack and removed rain pants.

    Leave August 29th. Cases for glasses. Needle and thread blisters and ripes. Rock tape and blister kit. I carry a cover for the osprey levity. Consider trekking poles as down hill hurts knees.

    Looks pretty good to me. Some thoughts: Do you need a poncho since you have rain gear, dry bags and plan to add a liner? You can cut the handle off your toothbrush to save a few grams. No water filter? No trekking poles? Do you have a hard case for your reading glasses? We are also starting the Camino Frances on September 14th from St Jean. Maybe we will see you on the trail!

      Hi Scott - I hear it’s going to be cold and stormy and rainy so I am over packing on rain cover. I do have a festival poncho in the kit. What bag liner do you recommend? The Dry bags also help me to organise my stuff to not rummage too much, the tooth brush is plastic - how do I cut that off and sharp edges after May Compromise back pack? No water filter as I hear water is good, and trading poles will be purchased at sJPP .. I am ahead of you by two weeks . Buon Camino!

      And yes good idea on a gard cover for glasses but that will add weight hmmmm

      You're pretty dialed in! Don't worry about cutting toothbrush - it saves about 2 grams and is unhygienic (fingers go into mouth). Keep the stuff sacs - weigh little and organise everything - makes packing fast and easy too. Do you have a fleece/lightweight jacket in there? The issue with wearing your sleeping gear to walk is potentially not having dry clothes to sleep in. Clothes for walking around after your shower and for dinner will make life easier. My only other suggestion is to lose the baseball cap. 1 hat is enough. I use a nylofume pack liner that you twist the top of to seal. But a bin liner works too. Either of the packs you have are made from fabric that dries quickly. Pack covers are a pain. Happy planning!

      @@sharonlivingstone5956 Thanks so much Sharon.
      Yes, I am trying to shave off grams but it’s not really of any impact.
      I will add a fleece I don’t like being cold so I need to cater for the weight of a fleece. Will have a think of a third set of clothes. I think you are right it is good to have a third set. Yikes, going to be heavier than I have targeted for. Thanks for the great input.!

      @@Walkwith_M lightweight is great but being comfortable is better :) I walked a month in France in June - mostly on a camino trail - the weather wasn't kind and I was so glad to have sacrificed a lower weight for a better rain jacket.

    Get rid of the Vaseline and get a small body glide and Leuko P tape. You don't need the dry bags, get an inner pack liner.

    • @Walkwith_M
      @Walkwith_M  3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the tips. What body glide do you recommend? I was thinking replacing the Vaseline with Nok only available in Paris (!). And what bag inner liner ? The dry packs help me to organise my stuff - less rummaging I was thinking.
