I was completely overwhelmed and felt so under learned when I first stepped into my local store called kinokuniya. I saw so much stuff and then I saw it the wall... and the customizable pens! I eventually noticed the Coletos and decided to come back later when I knew more about them. Thank you so much for making this video, now I can go back 😊
So very true about good paper vs. cheap. The better the paper, the better the glide of the pen across it. It also makes the ink look richer. I always stress this when I give personal reviews of writing pens. Smoother paper makes a world of difference. It doesn't matter what kind of ink you use, whether it's ballpoint (oil-based), hybrid, gel, or fountain or rollerball (water-based). For anyone who can't afford the cost of better paper or don't see the significance in it, I highly recommend investing in at least one notebook containing quality paper. I was always okay with standard notebooks bought at my local stationery store until I got my first Rhodia pad. I also own and use a Leuchtturm1917 and Maruman Mnemosyne notebook. They've all changed the way I feel about paper and pens, not to mention writing. Now I'm hooked! Thanks for the video!

I love .4mm for black ink refills (I currently use pilot frixion point 04). Just like you, i write small and it helps so much in saving spaces in my notebook. For colored inks, i stick to .5mm refills because it looks much better.

Coleto has been my favorite pen for years and I only use coleto multi pens at work and home. They write so nicely. The ink does run out fast though so I have to keep tons of refills on hand.
I love having 5 inks but the uni and zebra multi barrels are wider - I prefer the width of the coleto barrel, even if it's not as pretty. Something to ponder!
I have a variety of Japanese tip sizes. I find people who tend to write more at an angle usually say the finer tips are "scratchy" too. I definitely write more perpendicular and I've never had an issue, so I love every size I think I've tried :)

Not just any ballpoint refill, but if you were doing the Uni Style Fit hack you could totally do the Uni Style Fit Jetstream, which is a ballpoint ink rather than gel ink.

A quick question - somehow two of the coleto springs got twisted together so it's not lowering the ink very well. Any thoughts on how best to fix this (should I remove both springs)?

Yes that is possible. You can fx buy a 0.3 black, 0.4 black and 0.5 black and put all three in the same pen. They all fit in all slots since only the pen tip varies.

Hello! Can any normal ballpoint refills be used? I’m thinking of using my usual ballpoint refill for practicality since im on a budget (still a student here :’) ) I just recently discovered coleto and is still a beginner.
@neinah1701 the refills used for normal pens that only have one color, are much bigger than multi pen refills, so they won't fit. Multi pens use much slimmer refills.
faith That would entirely depend on the drop and how they landed. I can imagine in some cases they’d be fine (I also occasionally have dropped my Coletos) but I also can imagine they break sometimes too in bad falls. :(
You insert it as though it's any of the other ink refills. It has a mechanism to extract the eraser as you use it up, similar to the mechanical pencil feature. You can also refill it.

maybe people think .3mm is the smallest because the smaller the number of a needle in a syringe, the larger the opening of the needle 😅

No, unless they were referring to a different market. In Japan Hi-Tec C are still made.

No, it doesn't. Only the Pilot Frixion can disappear with high heat. These are traditional gel ink that does not disappear.

That is right. It is meant to be totally customizable. However, sometimes they will do limited edition boxed sets.
