Thank you SO much ! Was having trouble figuring this out mainly because a tutorial I watched showed the regular half double crochet stitch as the half double crochet slip stitch. This made me think that I had been doing it wrong all along. Sue thank you for clearly showing me what the difference was. Your video is one of the most informative and easy to understand ❤

Thanks so much! I just tried this for the stitch first time using velvet yarn, and I got thrown off by the extra yarn at the front of the row- from the HDC stitch itself. It made it look like there were two different rows to stitch into, and I couldn’t figure out if I was twisting it or not! Seems I was right so thanks :)

I know it is all about personal preference, but the way you swing your yarn around the hook instead of swinging the tip of the hook to catch the yarn, makes me grind my teeth and twitch my eyelids. XD
On a serious note though, do you do it that way because of the way you hold your hook?
I have tried to hold my hook like that a couple of times, but it doesn't work for me and I can imagine swinging the hook around the yarn causes great strain on your wrist and such. Just curious.
