Great info Chris. I just took my first cruise last year on Carnival. Taking my wife on her first in September. We live close to Galveston, so I am looking to spread my wings and check out Princess since they added a Galveston departure.

if you pay the sail away fare you are going to have to pay the $16/day gratuities so in reality the Princess Plus pkg is really $44/day for all that other stuff
with drink package (non alcoholic one) based on the price i have to have like 10 per day to cover the costeven on port days. as i recall irish cofee used to cost about $10. im goin 4 two weeks so if i buy it once a day it woul be roughly $160 thasts twice cheaper if i go for package...
There is a difference if you are sailing through Feb 19th. The price limits are different.
Yes I used the new Feb prices, so it is a bit lower for another month

The drink or premium package is not cost effective unless you are a very heavy drinker. Remember, deduct from your total costs cruise credit, in my case 130 each for my friend stand I with vacationstogo on a 16 nite cruise. Even including coffee drinks and soda, the average person will spend $30-40 per day.
76.00 per day for drinks is ridiculous. It could never be worth it unless you planned to spend every moment inebriated. Especially on port days. I think they've made it so expensive so people will just pay for drinks. 😒
What if you don’t drink but I like a soda coffee and tea and also Wi-Fi I on a 24 day cruise would

I would think so since they contain alcohol, but I am not 100% sure
I wish they have a princess ship ( year around in Fort Lauderdale / But they only have a ship there thru end of July )

We bought the Old Plus package back in last November, then they came out with the new Plus. If I want to pay the difference on embarkation day, can I use my on board credit to pay ? Another friend did not buy any package, can she use her on board credit to pay for gratuity and wifi and to purchase a couple of the specialty coffee ?

We also had the old Plus package they just moved it to the new one automatically, and yes on board credit can be used for those things

Because on my acct summary from Princess, they didn't mention about the gym classes or $2 desserts, just mentioned the drinks, WI fi n crew fee are included.

I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere, perhaps someone here can chime in. Does the princess drink packages work with Ocean Now (the ordering service on the mobile device/stateroom tv)? Or do you get charged additionally if you order a drink through that? Thanks
we were on the Grand Princess June 22 and the drink package worked with Ocean Now and room service
But now you also have a fee of $14.99 to activate the Ocean Now unless you have the Princess Plus or Premier package.
I can't see coffee package to purchase before cruise which is 7 days away

Yes you can get once on board
The two you mentioned at the end, the all inclusive, are those charged 18% also? If they do, does they mean you’ll be paying an extra 18% on the crew appreciation gratuities, so $16 per day plus 18%?

They add the 18% to all drinks, and the $16 a day is separate

The $16 gratuities are for your cabin steward, restaurant waiter and busboy plus any other staff that work on other compliemntary venues. It is not for drinks’ service, specialty dining or room service.

As of this year, you need to buy it for the first two guests in the cabin.

When you are on land, you pay for the drinks and also add tips. It’s the same for the cruise lines.
If you have an identical twin just get one package and go to town. Don’t forget the free body wash!
They make good money off this drink package unless you drink 15 martinis a day.
You only need to drink 7-8 drinks a day to break even. Pretty easy when you have nowhere else to go.
You have to think, it's including the other types of drinks, so if you're a specialty coffee drinker and juices etc in addition to alcohol, then it may be worth it.
@@robzilla69 not to mention if you do the plus package you also get your gratuities, Wi-Fi 2 casual dining, 2 specialty desserts per day.
No package will ever work for me because my wife does NOT drink alcohol. Obviously my kids will not drink (legally). Princess will charge full price regardless of those facts. I cannot drink enough to cover the difference (It would be a challenge that I *might* be willing to accept...but wife and kids will hate me for it). In the end, I will just buy the odd drink "on the go".
Princess has a great menu of non-alcoholic drinks (cocktails and beer)
