We disembarked the Sky Princess last week. And we are on the Discovery Princess in August traveling to Alaska. We love the Princess Medallion experience as well.
I nave been cruising with princess since 2019 it is amazing how far it has come. Love that it shows all my past medallion cruises and the itinerary ( nice memory). 1st cruise with new App in 30 days I am so excited to try all the new features.
I loved the Medallion. Walking up to your door and having it unlock for you is so cool. When I sailed on Princess I didn't get Princess Plus or Princess Premiere, so I had to go to the blue lane. It was not a big deal that time because we were sailing a repositioning cruise out of Vancouver and the place was EMPTY! We are going to Alaska this summer on Sapphire Princess, and I am going to be sure to pay the $10 buck to have it mailed to me. The Vancouver port in the summer is CRAZY and I don't want anything slowing us down.
No. We didn’t. I saw so many reviews that said they would order something and the food/drink just didn’t show up as expected. I don’t mind taking a few steps to go to the bar.
Thanks for the info on the medallion. Our first Princess cruise with the medallion is coming up in a few weeks and this helps me understand better some of its benefits.
I just came back from an Alaskan cruise on Royal Princess. It’s very convenient and easy. I actually left the medallion at home but got another one for free after getting on the ship at customer service.
Thank you so much for explaining so well what the features of the medallion and the app are. Can’t wait to show my husband your video so I don’t have answer all his questions about it. 😊
Thank you for the great information! My question is does the Ocean Now delivery feature work for all foods and drinks, even the complimentary ones? So, after the activation fee, there are no additional charges for items that are included in the basic Fare?
My wife and I are on a Princess cruise embarking from Southampton on Sunday. We don't have the option of getting our Medallion posted to us in the UK, so we have to pick it up at the port. No big deal, we're still in the Blue Line. Thanks for the info anyway, cheers from a rather chilly Otford, Kent, UK.
It is a completely different experience. Each is good for different types of needs. There is a cruise line for everyone! Many ex Carnival sailors move to princess once their kids grow up and they no longer need the theme park at sea feel.
The medallion is useful in ports ar some of the stores. The medallion gives you a percentage of your purchase as a credit to your onboard account. Seventh princess cruise is coming in March.
When ordering the medallions on the app it won't le me customize it. I have been able to choose customization on previous Princess Cruises. Is something not working on the app when they upgraded the app? Thanks!
When I receive my medallion will I receive a boarding time? I haven’t seen that option anywhere. Or do you not need a boarding time when you have your medallion? Thanks
Forgive me if this question is a little naive (I'm a cruise virgin, until later this year!) but seeing the 'hands full coffee/donuts' image, I wondered if it's permissible, or at least not frowned upon, to take food/drinks from the food outlets (buffet, int'l cafe, etc.) back to your cabin?
You can bring what ever you wish to your cabin from any food venue never hesitate to ask if you want to bring desert back from the MDR and don’t hesitate to bring food back to you cabin from anywhere.
My husband and I are finally going on our very first Cruise Mid January 2025, Mex-Riviera. So I am learning all I can these next 5 months. He booked the cruise and is handling the payment part of it, but I’m going to learn all the information I can and take notes to help make our experience memorable and worry free. I do have one question, in a worse case scenario like man overboard or a ship wreck and we loose internet connection, is there a backup system to help locate people stranded at sea or drowned. Because I’m all for the Medallions and not so concerned about how my spending or my interests are being tracked, or the convenience of getting my drink faster. I’m more concerned about how this new technology would work to save lives. We have come a very long way from the Titanic, so I thought maybe that’s the major purpose in mind for these medallions. That’s what I thought they were for in the first place before I started researching and only hearing about what we can do with them. Maybe some people might feel much better about wearing them and not so much forced like “Big Brother” just wants to be nosy in our vacation business.
Unfortunately the chip will not work without being near RDF locators. They don’t have a radio signal that can be detected off ship. Thus overboard will not register.
It has some big brother aspects. On my last cruise the sensors for your medallion are everywhere in the public spaces. In every venue, and hallway Princess knows where you spend time. Just look up in the ceiling. They are there every 6 feet or so. Even in the hallway to your room it will open your cabin door lock. Convenient? Sure. Creepy? Absolutely!
You just connect to the ships wifi. You do not need an internet plan to do that. Its a local network. You use the same network for internet if you purchased it.
'Ocean Now ' used to be.... mostly covered in the 'room service" As a basic in the basic cruise fare. Another annoying new concept is, If I even were to upgrade any packages, first and second guest each HAS TOO PAY for the upgrade. There's no upgrades for one person unless you travel solo. Medallions were free to ship out to address, allowed to be shipped .$10.99 per now for shipping 😮 Absolutely not another gimmick to nickel and dime passengers on top of estimated cruise fare and fees went upwards of $200 plus port fees and taxes per person on 7 day cruise. But services have cut dramatically. More $$$ per person based on the port the cruise ship docks and the seasons. * Platinum cruiser on this cruise line. *Carnival: *Princess.
There is a lot of nickel and diming in cruising. That's for sure. I just try to get it all paid up front. I deal with the requirements and go on with life. I still find cruising to be the most bang for your vacation dollar. Even with all the little fees here and there.
I am hearing from a person on the you tube about the Caribbean Princess reminds him of the ship being an old peoples home. I do have a walker. Does this mean I cannot go on the Caribbean Princess Cruise?
Ankle monitor? Really? It basically employs the same tech as your phone and the apps on them. And it only works on the ship. Oh ankle monitors also force you to stay in your home while you can come and go as you please with a medallion. Kinda a false equivalency if you ask me.
There is never no reason. No matter what you feel. Its the captains call for safety and safety only. I have had ports skipped on all lines. If you can't accept a port skip, dont cruise.
I love the medallion. Wish every cruise line used it. Makes life so easy.
I agree. I still can’t believe others have yet to copy.
We disembarked the Sky Princess last week. And we are on the Discovery Princess in August traveling to Alaska. We love the Princess Medallion experience as well.
We are so excited to experience the full Medallion experience this coming cruise we have on Discovery!
I wish all cruise lines had this. It seems much more convenient than the cards.
Have fun on your cruise Rob. 🎉🎉
I agree Carol. I still can’t believe other lines have not tried to copy this tech.
I nave been cruising with princess since 2019 it is amazing how far it has come. Love that it shows all my past medallion cruises and the itinerary ( nice memory). 1st cruise with new App in 30 days I am so excited to try all the new features.
Enjoy your cruise!
Excellent explanation thanks - I look forward to experiencing for myself next week!
Have fun!

Good plan. Vancouver is a crazy port! Did you get OceanNow for the extra 15 bucks?
No.
Happy to help! Enjoy your first Princess cruise
I’m the coffee lady and am really excited about the cabin door opening for me! It’s the little things😃
It is the little things!!!
I just came back from an Alaskan cruise on Royal Princess. It’s very convenient and easy. I actually left the medallion at home but got another one for free after getting on the ship at customer service.
I really enjoyed your video. I hung on every word you said. One of the best I've seen and I learned a lot.
Thank you so much Janice. Very appreciated and happy you liked the video.
Thank you so much for explaining so well what the features of the medallion and the app are. Can’t wait to show my husband your video so I don’t have answer all his questions about it. 😊
Thank you for the kind words Lauretta. Enjoy your princess cruise!
Thank you for the great information! My question is does the Ocean Now delivery feature work for all foods and drinks, even the complimentary ones? So, after the activation fee, there are no additional charges for items that are included in the basic Fare?
Yep. Everything including complementary stuff!
This was a very good. You have explained things a lot better than most. Thank you.
Thank you John. Much appreciated.

Cheers! Enjoy your cruise!
I believe they only deliver the medallion to America and Canada, the don’t deliver to me in Australia
You are correct.
Other than a couple ports it is 5 min I am US but often doing land traveling before the cruise so don’t order
Nowhere outside of the USA although I think they do Canada as well. We are in Europe so won’t deliver to here.
I've only cruised on Carnival but I just got to give Princess a try soon
It is a completely different experience. Each is good for different types of needs. There is a cruise line for everyone! Many ex Carnival sailors move to princess once their kids grow up and they no longer need the theme park at sea feel.

Its a nice perk!
When ordering the medallions on the app it won't le me customize it. I have been able to choose customization on previous Princess Cruises. Is something not working on the app when they upgraded the app? Thanks!
Weird. We were able to personalize our medallions.
Thankyou. Off cruising tomorrow. 14/9/24
Enjoy your cruise!
When I receive my medallion will I receive a boarding time? I haven’t seen that option anywhere.
Or do you not need a boarding time when you have your medallion?
Thanks
No boarding times with Princess just follow the lines for people with medallions mailed to them
How did you figure out $6-12 a day for medallion net? The cost on the app for my Alaska cruise is $175 US for the 7 days
If you have loyalty. 6-12

I am going with the crown princess next year, they apparently do not send medallion to europe?
Unfortunately no. They only ship to US and Canada I believe.

Your phone is pretty much the same thing everywhere you go on land. I’m good with it.
Same with your key cards. They now have chips in them.
@@carolgravius9312 very true Carol.
@@carolgravius9312I don't know if other ships have the array of sensors everywhere that princess does. Rfid chips have limited range. Usually 3 feet.
Who cares.....it's about convenience for me!
I'm not a celeb so if someone thinks its creepy......WHY!?
In the UK we don’t get them delivered
Yes.. That's so sad :(
As a newby cruiser in this century 😊 I'm a little confused about how you use the app on your phone if you aren't connected to the Wi-Fi?
You just connect to the ships wifi. You do not need an internet plan to do that. Its a local network. You use the same network for internet if you purchased it.
@@CruiseSeakers thank you, so it's a public, free Wi-Fi? That does bother me, never use them for safety reasons.
Can you use the medallion, with airplane mode on please?
Yes you can
Is there a way to add shipmates to locate them.
Yea there is! You can easily invite new friend made on the ship to share location
'Ocean Now ' used to be.... mostly covered in the 'room service"

Plenty of people on princess with walkers on all their ships. Feel free to bring your walker.
It reminds me of the Disney watch . I’m worried about the water proof .
The medallion is both waterproof and heat resistant.
Thank you . 🎉
Medallions are only delivered to USA or Canadian residents 😒
Yes.. Sadly true
What if you do not have a cell phone?
A lot of the benefits of medallion class is lost to you. But the medallion itself is used just like your key card.
Wow, reversed background?
Yea. Weird huh. I had. Setting accidentally set when I recorded and I was not gonna re-record
I live in Brussels, my english is limited. You talk fast . Subtitle would help.
Excellent suggestion!
Turn on closed captions by pressing the cc box. The speed of the video can also be slowed down in the settings.
Sounds like a fancy ankle monitor
Ankle monitor? Really? It basically employs the same tech as your phone and the apps on them. And it only works on the ship. Oh ankle monitors also force you to stay in your home while you can come and go as you please with a medallion. Kinda a false equivalency if you ask me.
The reversed type in background signs is distracting.
Some like and some don’t. Wish I could get everyone’s approval but that is a fool’s errand
Stay away from princess. They skip some ports for no reason
There is never no reason. No matter what you feel. Its the captains call for safety and safety only. I have had ports skipped on all lines. If you can't accept a port skip, dont cruise.
That happens everywhere and there will be a good reason. We have had that happen on a few cruises, it’s just part of it.
