- Just after 6.20pm on the 18th of December 2014, a lightning storm came over G C from the west. Which brought amazing views and sightings of lighting. During the trip of the tram from Broadbeach South to GCUH, the tram lost power from the G:Link network just after leaving Cavill Avenue Stop, 30sec after a Lightning Strike had hit near by.
Top video mate and my 4 year old favorite thing about the Gold coast was the tram ride. I wouldn't be surprised if he watches this a dozen times.
11:07 awesome CG lightningbolt
I spent 6 months in 2011 living in "Zenith" (4th floor) on The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise. The storms were ferocious and often came out of nowhere. I was always glad to be safe inside as I watched people getting blown down the street by the huge winds. Good times!~~~~~~~~~/
12:23's the real bit.
I remember that storm I was on top floor hotel. The shots I got were unbelievable
Beautiful. Thanks for share. Regards from Argentina
Cool video 👏🏻 how long was power off for? Did you guys need to leave the tram?
nice video. power was still on in the vicinity as the traffic lights were working so must have hit the substation. hopefully it is more resilient since then as gold coast gets a lot of storms and you want the service to be reliable as possible.
Amazing video man ! The storm was the perfect scene for that tram !
a very enjoyable watch, rainy days are the best
This is one of my favorite videos to watch.
+kiddbuu622 Thanks Mate
+TrainGuy 659 Did anyone got hurt?
@12:23 oh yeah
I was Japanese tramway's driver.
WOW! and how long was the tram suck with no power?
The Tram was without power for 13min after I finished the video.
Miss the old days
Lightning Hit at 12:23
So which lightning bolt cut the power the 12.33 or 12.55
power lost at 13:30
Alex Jamieson by lightning I think
So until 13.58 the wipers were on backup power like batteries?
More like residual power that wasn’t strong enough to give power to move the tram.
@@oeufme1409 Trams and Electric Trains usually have a backup power supply to run the basic essentials (like the internal lights, Passenger Info System (the announcements and destination info) and driver comms), however not enough power to run the electric motor.
That's why you see that thing on the top touching the wires at all times.
Blade Runner atmosphere... just missing Vangeli's Music !
12:23 That was close and may have couased that power outage
Wow what time?
How far does the tram go
I know I’m late. It went from Broadbeach South to Gold Coast University Hospital at the time of this video. It has been extended from University Hospital to Helensvale.
I do believe the tram got hit by lightning
@12:24 oh yes
Anyone thinking south Australia state wide power blackout 2016
Hello the train
Водитель трамвая
Make them diesel powered - simples!
Glenn It’s a tram not a train...
