Filmed at Bell Helicopter Canada located at Mirabel, Canada, where commercial helicopters are manufactured. It is Bell427 model shown here. :)

The engines in the Bell Helicopters shown in the video are turboshaft engines.

@DanFrederiksen You have a point there. It would be easier to make a custom computer module to control those "ocean of dials" *lol* in the cockpit. That would eliminate some of the wire :)

The cockpit and cabin are designed to remain intact in a crash. If the pilots and passengers are not ejected or thrown into other objects, they stand a much better chance of survival.

Watching this in 2021 and surprised that it took 110 days to make one Helicopter. Now I think, they making it in 20 days.
(Someone may post same type comment in 2050 and says 5hrs to make one Helicopter) 😀

Bell 427 shown landing and taking off at the beginning and end of the video. Looks like a Bell 407 under construction in the middle of the video.

the air at such altitude has a low density, so not enough of it is pushed down by the propellers, therefore lift is not achieved. Simply said - it can not lift itself that high

They use fibreglass more than carbon fibre in helicopter shells

What the two of you are forgetting is that driving dials and screens electronically is lighter than having direct reading gauges in the cockpit. Same with electronically controlled Fuel Computers on modern Gas Turbine engines. Lots more wire, but still lighter than using mechanical linkages back to the engines. Redundancy also has to built in, which adds more wire and weight. People don't like it when things fail in aviaition, specially as you can't pull over and fix it easily!

@DanFrederiksen Certain wires are for power and others are for Data and senmsors, you have to have all that wiring!!

@hydrolisk1792 I wouldn't suggest wireless. just not 2.5km cable in a helicopter. I'm not disputing that's how they do it. I'm saying they are doing it wrong. that ocean of dials in the cockpit is also a symptom

They make the rear fuselage with cad-cam cut pre-preg carbon fiber and sandwiched honeycomb yet add a carpet covered console made out of plywood that was originally designed for a 1982 Winnebago.
