In BMT my instructor didnt let us use the little loop things on the actual shoe, (the little blue cloth things that the laces go through)....... But the rest is right, just make sure you have the two x's at the top and the bottom and make sure that the laces go from the outside on the bottom
@ncstud316 Is this in the MTI's TO? I learned this at BMT also but curiously the 36-2903 doesn't specify a lacing method so i was thinking of using an alternate method that might be more comfortable.
The kind that is made from the company that is both the lowest bidder and has the best relationship with the kind of people deciding that. My shoes (not boots) issued in basic were low quality and even hurt my feet. If you want... great shoes go to your nearest running store and explain you want shoes for (running, hiking, whatever, etc.) and the price range. You desperately want to know how your specific foot pronates.[1] They will watch you run and tell you the types of shoes you can buy. If they do not initially offer to watch you run or have you put your foot on a paper tower/cardboard/etc then you are in the wrong store. If you buy the wrong type *your feet will hurt no matter what*. From there take a recommendation for a specific shoe and buy it from them on the spot as a courtesy or payment for what they just gave you. Then later just use Amazon to find what you are looking for. Just so you know all running shoes break down at a fairly regular rate after a certain number of miles traveled or time, whichever comes first. As long as the shoe is built correctly (for you), little else matters. This is like a blade used for shaving. You can keep using it but it will be less effective the duller it gets. I realize your comment is 6 years old but perhaps someone else will see and get some benefit.
we werent allowed to lace through the loop on the tongue but yup that looks about as ridiculous as it actually was. And god have mercy on your soul if you forget to tie knots in the end of them.
nice man, post more videos like those!!

why the reverse "X" on top?
Very helpful information
Just a helpful fact. The knot u used is called an overhand knot. Everyone knows how to do them tho. :)
figure 8 is better because it doesn't jam tight.
