      amen to that brother, these are the coolest arpeggios, most videos do show some crap sounding arpeggios, who gets excited to practice about crap, not me! this is the best video on sweeping, its a lot better than not only all the other you tube videos, but professional ones as well, I spent around 30 dollars on an instructional video on sweep picking, it was an hour long video on a plethora of shit sounding arpeggios, I got bored and frustrated with the lessons and said fuck it, thanks to Josh, I will now practice my ass off on these wicked arpeggios

    • @nickgrennan1164
      @nickgrennan1164 5 років тому +14

      LLCurrio Sweeps like this can only be obtained with first mastering of 3 sting sweeps... so even though they may seem like crap they are basic arpeggiated triads and that's where it all begins

    • @saadshah7857
      @saadshah7857 3 роки тому +2

      @@nickgrennan1164 great advice. When first learning the sweeping mechanics it's best to start slow and work with 2 or 3 strings. Then continue to build on that by adding more strings. Also, legato turn arounds, slides, taps - all that can come later if the foundation is solid.

    • @daoyang223
      @daoyang223 3 роки тому +2

      3 strings are super common. I do like 3 string sweeps but I absolutely love 5 string sweeps way more.

  • @shubhamkhare7

    I'll go ahead and say that this is probably the best sweep picking lesson on youtube. Because either the lessons are very easy or they are out-of-the-world, this is just about perfect also well explained. Since the people trying to perfect their sweep picking are already good guitarists, they need a slightly challenging lesson to practise and not the way to easy 3-string shit. This lesson is great not too easy and not too hard.
    Thank You Josh.

    Absolutely excellent dude, adding those little slides as a transition between shapes has one of the single most intimidating sounds on the guitar. In the music that I've written recently, I use more hammer-on pull-off leads, but that's because it's what the material was calling for, which is a prime example of me evolving as a guitar player. At certain times, I go through phases where my leads are within the realm of showmanship, and in contrast to that, there are periods of time where I write leads that focused more on what piece is calling for, and now look for a consistent valance between the two, which is doing wonders for the emotional feel, and tone of what I'm playing.

      Practice it to a metronome, start off at a very slow tempo and slowly increase the speed every couple minutes. Like maybe go up 2 or 3 bpm every 5 minutes. just make sure you're paying attention to what you're doing the whole time (don't space off) and you'll get it down good pretty quickly. That's the best way to become competent with techniques and build up speed imo.

    I don't know how this ended up in my feed 4 years after it was uploaded but JEEESUS you are a fucking monster! I love the pick attack you put on the those sweeps, and on a Les Paul style axe? Bravo sir!! 🤘🤘
    Btw thanks for making me feel better about alt picking on that A string, my hands always naturally played this way and I have tried over the years to train my hands out of that thinking it would make me play faster but I see now that is not the case! Thanks so much for this awesome video!

    The right hand picking is not actually like strumming. I played like strumming for soo long but then i realized it is actually a rest stroke. Good video had some great points.
