to everyone complaining about how he‘s named as architects guitarist here: keep in mind they are dropping an album in like a week so this is probably part of the promo. makes total sense in from that perspective
I mean, he is the lead guitarist of the Architects so....has been for a few year now. #ripTom
He is architects guitarist, you little moaning worms!!!
tbh dont know ther guy at all but seems like just fine guy even tho architects music is trash lmao
@@moloantti says the dude who listens to “Spermswamp” 🤣
@@moloantti no music is trash, it’s all subjective
Imagine being such a beast at guitar that you play in both Sylosis and Architects.
Architects is probably easy af for him .
Not a technical riff in sight on the new Architects album though :P
Well guess like i missed architect, when my eyes open i was with sylosis 😁
the drummer of sylosis plays in Bleed From Within
Hes a living legend
Sylosis riffs are so so underrated.
To the point he didn’t even play any
@@Controldenied0 he was lead guitarist before vocals
@@DropDeadSam666 Crazy that you know that. It's almost as if the information isn't easily found on the internet 0.0
@@davidschwartz3427 I don’t need to google it
Honestly Sylosis' biggest boon are their brilliant riffs. Such a perfectly modern take on traditional thrash and death metal
"Oh cool, free riff'
This dude is casual asf. Mad humble
I'll be stealing that phrase
I just want to say to everyone in the comment section, that I saw you all talking about this band named “Sylosis”. So of course I searched in Spotify and listening to their songs.... my face just melted with the heaviness of the riffs.
Thank you everyone 🙏🏼
In case you don't know, Josh is the lead guitarist/vocalist for Sylosis. Check out their last album "Cycle of Suffering". Your face is gonna melt trust me😂😂😂
If you haven't already, please check out their album "Edge of the Earth". Riff heaven.
@@bradcorrigan1495 Edge of the earth is probably one of the best albums ever released EVER
check out Bleed From Within. the greatest riffs
Sylosis album Dormant heart is the best album ever period full mother flipping stop, check To build a tomb, and Leech, if you want your soul to explode. Also OP, I hope you heard of Belakor ;)
Josh is so underrated . Such a master of his craft
nice name G!
His work on holy hell album goes under appreciated. Those riffs slap like hell.
His dad was my English teacher in school😂, also met josh at a sylosis gig in Reading back in the day, super cool guy 😂
Stoked for the new Architects album. His work in Sylosis is insane and solidified him as one of my favorite guitarists ever.
finally someaone that loves Sylosis but doesn't throw shit to Architects :)
Wait there’s another architect’s album coming ??
Always loved Architects riffs, every single song has a sick and catchy riff.
This guy is actually creating the mosts amazing riffs and breakdowns in metalcore, and to be honest he looks like a very nice and lovely guy. Respect Josh. We love you.
Couldn't think of another guitarist best suited after Tom than Josh to play for architect's. Also sylosis is a mega band, still so underrated though and I wish they were more well known
That Royal baggers riff is deadly
His riffs in sylosis are so much better.josh is just a riff machine there.
I completely agree. Architects is alright, but as far as aggression and in-your-face wise, Sylosis trumps Architects.
Just different styles
@@pepmiralles2108 exactly his riffs crush regardless
@@thebloodychord Sylosis is nowhere near as aggressive as architects.
@@aidanlarose6901 I think you might have this impression because Architects play in drop and low tunings. Sylosis is far more superior IMO tho.
I'm a drummer/producer and how you approach writing your riffs are some of the strongest ever. You use great right hand chops...
Josh is one of my favourite guitarists ever. He deserve to be known more.
i second you brother
Very talented dude. He's got solid work in both Architects and Sylosis.
I don't know if anyone else have noticed, but nice detail that Sepultura Arise poster behind him. :)
So good to hear about his influences , one of my absolute favorites.
I learned sweep picking from Josh, his solo project's album is absolutely fantastic, I hope he does more of that!
Love all of your work
Same! Daddy Middleton taught all of us how to sweep!
“Discourse is dead was written before Holy Hell was released.”
Me- “Ohhhhhhhhh that explains that”
It really did lmao.
Only decent track on it lol
@@jacksonmitchell5348 Doomsday and The Seventh Circle are bangers. Most of the album is hit and miss though
@@djandrewification Nah nah nah I was talking about the new record lmao, saying the only thing good that came out of it was this song
@@jacksonmitchell5348 oooooo shit my b. I’ll check it out. I’ve been put off by everyone saying that it wasn’t a great album but I’ll give her a rip and see what’s up.
Why do people care that he's been called "Architects Guitarist" lmao he plays guitar in the band architects, this video is clearly a promo for the album coming out in 2 days. Would be very unusual if loudwire were like hey this is Josh of sylosis, check out Architects new album when it drops
Oooh, can't imagine the awkwardness tho 😌😂😅
@@user-ou3pj9yj9t the gate keeping in the metal community is actually embarrassing
Ppl bitch about anything now
@@user-ou3pj9yj9t some of us aren't over Tom and I think it sits weird for us, but yes he is the guitarist of Architects. Replacing a guitarist who left a band is one thing but one that passed. I can imagine the pressure Josh had and all but respect to the guy.
I think it's more just people want to see Sylosis getting more love because they're still very underrated and have more focus on guitar, which I think is worth mentioning. I much prefer sylosis but it's no issue really, comments have ensured that their name is in the discussion so all's good
He woke up and could sweep pick.... i wish that happened to me
Its all about your Brain, sometimes they just get trough with it. But not all the time
Actually I now actively use this phenomenon when learning anything. Practice religiously for a week, then ignore it completely for at least a week. When going back to it, you will have progressed massively. I now swear by it.
@@mikejenkins4924 yea, it's weird how that happens. I'm sure it has everything to do with muscle memory. I find myself busting my balls to figure stuff out, put it down for a day or so, and when I come back to it something clicks and I have it. Been that way my whole life.
@@Jeffmetal42 Exactly. Even in videogames fighting hard bosses. You get destroyed over and over till you rage quit. Put it back on a couple of days later, and the boss goes down first time.
@@mikejenkins4924 no lie, I do that with video games as well. Especially when I'm towards the end on the highest difficulty.
Street spirit is my favourite song to play on guitar. So calming.
I don’t know why but “the world was my riff oyster” made me cackle 😂
I’ll watch it again why not
Been a fan of both Architects and Sylosis for years now. I really respect Josh's decision to hold back his sick shreds to write riffs that seem more in line with the sound Architects established with Tom. At the same time, he doesn't simply mimic Tom's guitar but adds his signature death metal flair into the melodies. I think this sensibility what makes Josh not just an awesome guitarist, but a great musician. Looking forward to the upcoming album!
check out sylosis whoever hasn't...ure fucking welcome josh is a riff beast
Respect to that Hate Eternal shirt. Man of a culture right there
Josh's voice already has enough bass. Of course he decided to play guitar. Jk
LOL that took me a few secs to understand that
If he mouths the bass parts on a mic, they may not even need a bassist 😂😂
His voice is so much deeper than I thought it would be lol
🤣🤣
This bass in his voice is a real problem for slavic ears) It's really hard to understand what he saying, even if you know all the words
Nice. The smells like teen spirit solo was the first song that chilled my soul. The awakening of my connection to soulful music and myself. Sylosis also touches me like many others can't. Proud of you and can't wait to see sylosis live. One of my highest dream that will come true. keep shredding with soul and without mercy soulbro. Digging the album, I sever too.
Loving his Hate Eternal shirt and his playing.
Wish he would've talked about Sylosis. I love Architects, but Sylosis is really where his riffs shine.
He did at least mention it at 2:07
Will always remember that sweep on Empyreal, beast
Cap
I don't listen to architects much, but the riff at 5:32 made me so hyped
What a great dude. Its really interestiing to hear how he picked up so many different influences and techniques from different artists. The part where he compares Mortal After All to a Death riff is bang on.
i am a drummer but please let us appreciate that awesome guitar tone!!!!!!!!
he should have done the riffs from sylosis, architects is cool and all, but sylosis, that's where we see the riff lord shining
Yeah both are cool. IMO Architects sounds more modern tho.
@DΛVID X GOLIΛTH ヤハウェ with architects
Go listen to sylosis some then bruh, this is about riffs he likes and he's currently marketing for architects.
Its possible to enjoy both, guys.
Josh Middleton plays some sylosis riffs because random UA-cam account tells him to
One of the sickest riffs they have ever written is definitely "Mortal after all". Such a banger! Interesting to see how "Royal beggars" just came naturally to Josh. "Holy Hell" simply remains one of the greatest Modern Heavy records of all time. Just goes right to the core... ;)
No way he played my favorite Pantera song God I fuckin love Josh
He is such an awesome guitarrist, and musician overall. The fact that he has done so much cool shit in Sylosis, and Architects is something to be celebrated. Probably Architects is giving him the exposure and... well, the money that Sylosis, being so "niche" (at least in terms of market and comercial success), would never have. I honestly feel very happy of seeing such a fucking good guitarrist making a name for himself and flying high.
I thought the audio was pitch shifted for a second because of how deep Josh’s voice is.
"As soon as I could do that the world was my riff oyster." CLASSIC!
this is my first time hearing his speaking voice and good lord why is it so DEEP
Had a masterclass with this guy through college after weeks back, solid dude 👏
"...yeah, the world was my Riff Oyster."
- Josh, probably
Josh's magical riffs always emerge when he gives it his all on Sylosis. Without a doubt. Capable of memorable and epic creations impossible to get out of your head. He is capable of playing more extreme styles of metal. I hope any day is encouraged. All a contemporary reference for me.
4:06 this is scarily relatable, i still have nightmares about when i was in the exact same position
Follow the water, early grave, dead march. the whole hollow crown album is my favorite.
What kind of baffles are those? I love his room! Royal Beggars 💀 Also having the chunky stuff always makes the more intricate stuff really shine for Architects. I love how he keeps innovating & I'm excited for the new record. So glad this band & guitarist exist.
I could watch this all day!!
Josh Middleton + Sylosis + Standard Tuning Guitar = METAL RIFFS / SOLOS EPICS
King of all kings! Brilliant album!
Shedding Skin is my favorite song off Far Beyond Driven.
Architects' Josh Middleton is like saying Slayer's Gary Holt, Control Denied's Chuck Schuldiner, or America's Nikola Tesla
Except Tesla sucked.
I was thinking the same thing. Why talk about Architects when Sylosis is guitar driven, sucks
@@Johnny2Drinks because architects is the main thing for him now
Shut up 🙄
Control Denied was literally Chuck though. Same as Death.
Josh with architecs reminds me a lot Jeff Loomis with arch enemy , you know what I mean , just a personal opinion
5:01 God damn it I can only hear Veil of Maya's Ellie intro only cuz of those 3 notes haha
I could fucking watch him playing and talking about riff all day long... This guy's a monster player and such a cool dude...
I like the sepultura picture behind, sylosis is great!
I love that you use all the strings.
The bride @ around 7:00 is pretty awesome. Thr one prior to Animals. Ive never even heard if the band architects but this guy is pretty talented snd seems to have a nice personality.
Great dude!
for me, as a metal/rock whatever guitarist! This is crazy!
Sylosis definitely my biggest find last year . 🤘🤘🤘
Josh's playing in architects is like a badass truck driver rides bike to amuse children for money. I just hope he collects enough money for driving again the beast that's called SYLOSİS
I don't know why but 8 year old Josh looks, in my mind, like a way smaller Josh, but still bald and with a beard.
yea battery was a game changer for me as well. damage inc. was another fun one to practice off of master of puppets. shout out to my mom dukes for buying that guitar booklet for me that christmas. ******* had to go back to edit this just to say i'm so glad he threw black lungs in there! that is by far my favorite song of the new album.
Right hand king, sick riff machine
Ehy Josh!!!! I love your style and your tecnique!!! Wish to have a collaboration One day in the future eheh 🤘🏻😜🎸🎤
God I love his voice
This is Josh Middleton from SYLOSIS
Still suprises me that he still uses a 25.5" scale for the "Architects" tuning - I do that too (simply because I don't want to buy an extended range 6 string at the moment) - but with a 80 gauge string on the top. Also, it seems he switches guitars with different tuning - one for the "Architects" tuning and one in E-standard for Metallica and the new Architects songs with octave pedal on top.
Josh - what would you recommend for improving gallop-picking? Any specific techniques or practice routines?
Practice!
Iron Maiden -> Fear Factory -> Decapitated :D
Hell ya the battery riff!🤘🏻
Great guitar player
Came for the shirt, stayed for the riffs!
Man those baffles behind Josh are beautiful! Anyone know what make? Want!
So sick!
I accidentally came across this while listening to demos of The Here And Now
Love you, Josh. New Sylosis plz
Sylosis first 3 albums were so good.
Solid
You should definitely get Mick Grodon on this!
I watched this video 3 or 4 days ago and Josh mentioned that a couple of the riffs are ones that Tom worked on. Dan Searle had previously said that he didn't want to say which songs they were.
The video has now been edited.
Do you remember which ones?
Mortal After All and Doomsday are what he mentioned but I think it's those two, Dying To Heal and Death Is Not Defeat.
Dan Searle had said that Tom had worked on four songs and that Tom is all over that record. So sad.
@@davidstanton1262 But not on THIS record but the last one.
Holy Hell obs.
I did not expect his voice to be this deep.
Oh cool....Free riff. Man I felt that!
"The world was my riff oyster". And it still is Josh, and it still is...
What tunning is this ? It's like Korn and Sikth had a string baby. Sounds amazing.
Loved the new album ! Black lungs is one of my favourite songs. The riffs are sick.
Three guitar teachers.. string bending and sweep picking was hard.. let that sink in...
Audio sounds better.
Thanks for reading the comments!
I also learned how to gallop by learning Shredding Skin.
I should be amazing at guitar but I'm poop.
Wasn't expecting Street Spirit! Nice
great riff!
6:08 damn i wish my life was like this
never thought this he had this kind of voice , always though it softer
Trapped in the corner🤘🏽
Oh they fixed the sound, i thought they were just gonna leave it unsynced
10:37 that's got Korn written all over it.
Really good video loudwire
We need an entire guitar collection video josh
I didn’t even know there was an acadamey for contemporary guitar fukin wild mate
My favorite metal band... HATE ETERNAL!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nobody watched the video the first two times I posted it. Maybe we should upload it a third time. People will definitely watch it now!
They fixed the audio mate
