- UA-cam’s Community Guidelines outline what type of content is and isn’t allowed on UA-cam. Starting today, creators will have the option of taking a specialized training course when they receive a Community Guidelines warning. Completion of the course will remove the warning from a creator’s channel - so long as they don’t violate the same policy for 90 days. And, while creators were previously given one warning throughout the lifetime of their channel, they’ll now get individual warnings depending on the specific policy they violate if they take the trainings. This means more opportunities to learn why their content may have crossed the line, and the ability to take multiple learning courses at the same time. We believe this update will help the vast majority of creators produce content that complies with our policies, and help keep UA-cam a safe and responsible platform for everyone.

Starting today, we’re rolling out updates to UA-cam’s Community Guidelines system that will give creators the opportunity to learn from mistakes and resolve warnings on their channel. As a reminder, a first-time Community Guidelines violation results in a warning. In the past, this warning would be permanent and stay on the channel forever. Starting today, we’re slowly rolling out the opportunity to take a policy training to allow the warning to expire after 90 days. And, while creators were previously given one warning throughout the lifetime of their channel, they’ll now get individual warnings depending on the specific policy they violate if they take the trainings. This means more opportunities to learn why their content may have crossed the line, and the ability to take multiple learning courses at the same time. This feature will be available to all creators in a few weeks and will also apply to channels who had a warning applied BEFORE this update. We hope this system helps give creators the chance to learn more about our Community Guidelines, to help prevent violations moving forward and to help keep our UA-cam community safe.
*FAQs:*
*Q: When a Community Guideline violation happens, how are creators alerted?*
A: You’ll receive an email and an alert in Studio. If you have an old warning you’ll see the training by clicking in the Channel dashboard active warning card. Anyone who gets a warning starting today and is part of the gradual rollout will get an email and a notification in Studio.
*Q: Can you appeal a strike?*
A: Yes, you can appeal a strike and/or a warning! More info on that can be found in our Help Center: yt.be/help/cghc
*Q: After 3 strikes, is a channel deleted/done? If it is, then can the channel owner make another one to recover its audience?*
A: We remove channels if they receive 3 strikes in 90 days. Channels can appeal this decision, but if the appeal is denied then the channel owner cannot get the channel back. Here’s the form to use to appeal a suspended channel: yt.be/help/cstrike
*Q: Do old strikes now expire?*
A: Strikes will not expire until 90 days from the time they were issued, but this isn’t new - this is how the system has always worked. With this new Community Guidelines update, there are no changes to strikes, the change applies only to warnings. 3 strikes in the same 90-day period results in a channel being permanently removed from UA-cam.
*Q: Do old warnings now expire?*
A: Warnings received prior to launch and warnings issued now can expire if you take the relevant policy training AND don’t violate the same policy within a 90 day window. It also takes 90 days for the warning to expire after taking the training.

Why are advertisers allowed to break the guidelines when videos that do the same things are not advertiser friendly? There is currently an ad running on every video that says "raped and killed" uncensored within the first 5 seconds of the advertisement, in reference to a little girl brutalized by an illegal immigrant. This platform is a master of hypocrisy... The pacification of language is part of what is throwing our society into decline. I'm not fragile enough to be offended by these words, or spiral into depression when I hear them, however I will not stand for hypocrisy when it means that big corps take money away from the little guy. "Rules for the, not for me" I suppose... The people who run this platform are morally bankrupt, but it seems their bank account doesn't tally morals, only dollars and cents. We need to hold these people accountable.
If this isn't the case, make a statement saying that creators can stop self-censoring words and concepts that are an unfortunate part of reality, but part of reality nonetheless.
Once you report a content based on specific reasons, it will not be automatically removed. Instead, it will be reviewed if the content violates the Community Guidelines or not - unless there is sufficient context to make an EDSA (Educational, Documentary, Scientific and Artistic) exception.

One of the many problems with this is that the appeal system only works if appeals are assessed by human beings with functioning brains. Currently UA-cam does not do this. As a result 99.99% of appeals are declined though an automated process.

I just got a warning today, it was about a video I made in 2017 and I appealed that it did not violate anything and was rejected immediately.
How can we even trust this system if most of the appeal is automated by bots. Plus people abuse this system knowing that the appeal will just be rejected so they try to community guideline strike anyone who they don't see fit.

That’s another thing , I had appealed years ago a video that they claimed violated some rules but I won that appeal, two years later they did the same thing but this time no one responded channel erased I keep trying to get my channel back but only bots seem to be doing the job .. 😟😔just very frustrating and disappointing it’s come to this .. UA-cam used to be the best platform.. can’t even have private videos anymore for personal content and reference cuz they strike that too

What concerns me is, at least when it comes to monetization, UA-cam considers mass flags as "within 90 days". Even if the videos were uploaded years ago. A few weeks ago I got hit by a wave of age restrictions and suddenly my monetization standing went from good to bad because "3 videos in the last 90 days got demonitized" even though the vids were uploaded years ago.
That is so dumb, reminds me of the whole Coryxkenshin demonetization, UA-cam just does that at their own discretion, and without warning

I totally agree with you as policies have changed 18 months ago they should not be held to old videos with the guide lines of years ago.
I love these option. The only problem is we received a strike 6 months ago and this month we were instantly removed from the partner program without a chance to make it right. We never received a second strike and really no chance to correct or learn from what we did wrong. I would love the chance to review what we did, so we can make it right and to learn how to create future content.

I'd gladly take it to get the warning taken off, but no idea how or where. Let alone what content was taken down or what the issue was.

Unfortunately, this improvement looks purely cosmetic and not really useful. It would be much more effective for training content makers and avoiding restrictions in the future to have the UA-cam team bother to explain exactly what the violation is in each case. Where exactly was it commited by the author of the content?
Now the practice is as follows: the author receives a notification of a violation with a restriction on the video or even the entire channel, but when contacting support or after the appeal is denied, no explanations are received. The author can only guess where exactly he committed the violation and doubt whether there was a violation in reality: in the title of the video, in the description, in the preview picture, or in some particular fragment of the video. The appeal is now being rejected by the UA-cam team without a clear explanation of specific reasons and without the possibility of making corrections to the video.
I doubt that passing the announced training will solve the problem of communication between partners, that is, content authors, and UA-cam support. The problem I described devalues the very concepts of "partner" and "support". At least partners have the right to receive details, but in fact they does not receive proper feedback and respect from UA-cam team.
Yep, the communication between UA-cam and creators is absent. Full account can be terminated without any notifications or strikes. And support really doesn't care about explaining about the reasons

i did that because i got scared even though i was live streaming and a call for prayer in the background was supposedly uploaded to UA-cam hence causing me a warning, so i instantly deleted the live stream and tried not to violate any further. i am stuck with the sign and it has been there since the training program was about to be introduced.

Have you been witness to someone being reported and that reported person was given a warning without having been investigated? if that is so, someone may have either accidentally reported them (like amazon I've noticed) or reported them regardless if it was wrongful or not.. and the person having been reported gets a warning or gets kicked off (not sure either or) even if what their comment wasn't wrong or without having the opportunity to make it right.. this definitely is an issue with Amazon but is it also with UA-cam?

I made a mistake and received a warning in January 2024. But until now, August 2024, the warning has not been revoked. Even though it's been more than 90 days.
Remember,corporations are NOT our friends, that includes Alphabet-Google, parent company of YT. It's frustrating when I see or read about situations in which content creators were given strikes-warnings but YT does not provide a detailed explanation plus no real human beings to help sort out the confusion.

UA-cam has no desire to do the actual work of monitoring their creators. When it's "reviewed by a human" I seriously doubt it's what they really do, unless they just don't even read the appeals and push buttons at random.

Reason why: I uploaded a deutschlandlied music video that shows the inappropriate german flag waving, but the good news, the video got deleted by UA-cam and UA-cam also deleted my others videos a few months ago. Well I learned my lesson. Sorry for what I did, UA-cam. Hope you will forgive me.

There should be other options to correct the warning and the warning should be clearly explained. Options like, muting a section of video that is not within the guidelines perimeters similar to muting music that is challenged by copywrite, even though it is public domain in the USA. Changing hashtags, sometimes is needed to remove a warning and should be addressed in the warning. By giving the creator more options, shows us that UA-cam is willing to work with us. I think the training is great to a certain extent. But as rules change, the goal posts are moved. We should have more freedom of expression as long as it falls within our Country of Origins laws. Just a few ideas that I thought about when I received a recent warning on a video, that video was removed without any explanation. I appealed on that video and won that appeal, and I am grateful for that. I thank UA-cam for releasing my video, but still have no clue as to why the video was flagged in the first place.

I had a playlist of meme videos I had saved on my account from years ago, and I randomly got an email that it violated a community guideline and they removed it. My private playlist. So not only are they taking forever to “crack down on things” their form of private means that they can still go in and stalk every last thing you do or save and you get in trouble for something that someone else posted. I think the person that uploaded what they don’t like should get in trouble and have the videos removed and I should of been told that content from that playlist got removed due to the uploaded videos going against community guidelines. Making a PRIVATE playlist for MYSELF that’s set so “NO ONE ELSE” can view it, that is just MEMES shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Same exact thing has happened to my family four times this month. Deleting private playlist folders, while the actual content saved for viewing later is still approved and viewable on their site. Punishing the average viewer for some non-existent violation instead of the content or creator they claim has broken some community guideline??? No way to resolve or figure out whether it's a rouge employee or rouge AI. Easy to hide behind and blame the latter. May be time for a class action lawsuit?

I think these guidelines and violations are strictly biased and based on favoritism. I just had a video of mine that was removed because it apparently violated the community guidelines. It was a game I was playing where the character said something and they called it hate speech. If that's the case then why was my video the only one that was removed?????? There are many bigger youtubers than me that played the same game and didn't get their video removed. I felt that was unfair so I tried to appeal it and it got rejected. What's worse is I'm not even monetized yet but the main issue is that idk why my video got deleted and others didn't and we played the exact same game. The character said something like he hates women but I clearly don't feel that way.
Just imagine in 15 months you used an audio on your 500+ Shorts, got no warning, restrictions or guidelines about that audio and after 15 months your channel removed by 4 strikes on 4 different shorts for the same (one) audio.
UA-cam should reconsider its policies and guidelines... Everyone should have an option for removing the video, part of video, voice or audio...

After the first stike, the warning remained permanent even if more than 90 days have expired! Censorship is really terrible, it's even harder to express your opinion to someone and not get punished!
Same had mine for two years, it's still up there. I already told them about this. They have not taken it off yet, and it's not fair to have it permanent forever.

Reaction channels bully and harass others to the point of body shaming, bullying, extreme harassment and theft of content - but can't seem to get a response. Is yt okay with people making videos that do this? And if not why can't i get an actual strike against some of these reaction channels?
I lost 2 of my years-old playlists because of “hate speech.” I don’t even upload videos.
I’ve already applied for appeal and they got back within 10 minutes saying they “carefully reviewed and confirmed that (i’ve) definitely violated the policy”
This is unjust and unfair. No warning, no specifics, no reason.
You're not alone. Same story. Four times in the last couple of months. Just saved personal playlists. Family doesn't use their required viewer subscriptions to upload content like a "channel"... and the videos saved in those folders were approved content from other providers. They are now punishing ordinary viewers and not the actual videos or content providers they claim are in violation!
Quick tip: the only way to avoid getting your Playlist deleted is to make sure they are on *fully private* and only viewable to you, otherwise they are screened by yt's "gulagorithms"👍

me too. i actually got someone on their chat option and talked to them about it. their answer to me was 'this is a new policy and should update in the future.' i asked if they knew how long and they didnt have an answer. asked me for a screenshot of the 'warning' on my dashboard and assume itll be through that in the future whenever they DO update it. I am so thankful for this change. There are a lot of new rules and sometimes we don't know until it's too late. A lot of channels were getting strikes or getting demonetized which was a bit harsh considering the revenue these UA-camrs generate for this site. I'm glad UA-cam is going to work with us now learning all the new guidelines. Thank You.

We creators have a problem, when there are guys who report the same week more than 3 times for no reason, just for harming the channel - to be removed, there should be some kind of direct communication with a UA-cam administrator, with whom we can specify what happened and avoid those faults

That's great, now we just need the same transparency when it comes to limited ads and age-restrictions. I find it incredibly ironic that you make these changes to improve the platform when the biggest problem is videos being falsely flagged as not advertiser friendly or inappropriate for viewers under 18 without receiving the proper context or information to resolve the issue after the video is published. All we need is more transparency so we can continue to create content that is allowed and monetizable on UA-cam and all you have to do is give us the information we need.

Thing is, nothing has ever dived into re-used content. I understand it's place in the system and why it's there but understand that i've appealed, taken in feedback and done everything and nothing. It's been a YEAR. I've done all I can to prove that I edit my videos THOROUGHLY AND YA'LL DON'T LISTEN. I've TRIED bro. I've even showed them my editing! I've made a video from scratch in my appeals and shown my face. I've legit done the exact things they've wanted. Appeals don't do anything. Ya'll don't know how much that takes a toll on ur mental health when that was ur one hobby as well as ONE SOURCE OF INCOME. Worst part is, contacting support goes in circles. They give everything I've already done.

I'm not sure about the current administration of UA-cam, but it's concerning that channels providing value and attracting more viewers are being terminated. This is especially worrisome considering that many content creators struggle to make a substantial income from the platform.

@RealRedFlags The guidelines are seriously flawed near corrupt and make loopholes allowing for abuse. I commented once in an entire comment section filled with trolls insulting an individual. I did NOT use the language they were using, just that what they were saying wasn't true and unkind. Next a message popped up saying my comment had been removed due to violations.
Now that people feel the dislike button is pointless I think they just mass report videos and comments as a way to express

Thanks for adding this feature! I accidentally violated these guidelines without realizing it. With this, creators can remove these warnings from our channel and know the policies, so they don't break the rules again.
There are no rules- Just don't say things they don't like, whatever that means. Simple.

Useful video to notify creators. I hope UA-cam removes "channel violations" warnings from creator studio page , if expired, currently warnings staying forever.
I posted 3 shorts that were just Roblox skits and they permanently deleted my channel and my abilty to make channels. Insane.

If UA-cam is playing commercials on my videos they need to be paying me like they do with large channels but UA-cam refuses to monetize small new channels they are stealing from. UA-cam is stealing revenue from small channels to give to channels like Mr Beast.

It seems to me that UA-cam is on the right track to be a single team together with the creators. But I have a question about what would happen if you suddenly receive 3 non-compliance strikes, for example, a massive complaint (copyright, etc.)

Same case here with a recently received warning (September 2023). They mention that "This feature will be available to all creators in a few weeks" and "Starting today, we’re slowly rolling out the opportunity to take a policy training", so I guess it's just a matter of time until we have this option available in our channels.

This is good stuff. I got a warning for breaking a rule that I didn't intend to break. However, I removed the content before this update, and I cannot take the training to resolve it. I feel like there should be a link to the training embedded in the channel dashboard notification so that in the case that someone deletes the video, they are still able to resolve the warning.

Maybe this is why I'm not able to find this so called training course for my warning I've got. Got hit for something back in 2020 and no way that I can find to remove the warning. I've no idea what it was about as they never tell you. I make nature videos so maybe it was a fish with no clothes?

Unlike what the video states, they can also remove your channel/account WITHOUT giving you a warning or the opportunity to correct any potential violations. It's hardly fair to punish content creators without offering constructive feedback or the opportunity for reform. SAD
I got my other channels removed😢 for no reason and they stike this one for a danced and they let other creators do the dance😢
The training option might be why I've started loving UA-cam again. I received an odd warning on my dashboard and even thought about starting afresh, potentially saying goodbye to my 53K subscribers. It was that disturbing. I hope this option becomes available soon so I can address this warning.

It’s really obvious that you’re just slowly murdering my channel and the automated system is looking really hard for any violation when I haven’t committed any
Thanks for adding this feature! Creators, including me, have unintentionally broken the guidelines, without even knowing it. With this, creators can remove these warnings from our channels and know about the policies, so that they don't break anymore rules.

The training option's a great idea, but I still think permanent deletion of a channel for three strikes is problematic. I've seen videos by creators who lost their channels after getting copyright bombed by companies (usually Japanese anime). Channels might be operating under what they believe to be fair use or for commentary reasons, the company discovers their channel and puts in a blanket infringement claim. In some cases, that's been for dozens of videos in one go. That resulted in multiple strikes and the deletion of their channel. How does this new system protect against that? Especially if the creator is locked out of their channel and can't respond before it hits three strikes. There should be a fair review process of the strikes by a human being before you completely erase a channel. Many channels represent years of work by creators, it seems only fair.
Yeah, but the example you name is not part of the same system. Copyright infringements is a separate strike system, and updates to the community guideline's strike system does not apply to the copyright infringement strike guidelines. I do agree that, in your example, it *should* count as 1 strike, and not as 12+ strikes, and I also agree that there should be a review process before channel deletion, but that's a separate system. (Also, considering the sheer volume of content posted to youtube each minute, as much as I would like it to be actually human reviewed, how many people will actually want to be the reviewer, and how many channels can they handle per day?)
@@Nathan_Ninowell, human review would only be necessary for channel that the system detect to be deleted permanently. The system will inform UA-cam, and UA-cam will assign that particular channel to a human reviewer who will review the channel for any potential deletion or even send notifications if necessary
@@Nathan_NinoAh right, thanks for clarifying. Makes sense. I think that's just the real main thing creators worry about is the three-strikes-and-you're-out with no review or appeal. You hear a lot of horror stories about that and it's the speed at which it happens. Maybe even if you had a warning that it would be deleted in however many days, so people had time to back up the videos they wanted to keep. So, if it's a different system then this one's fine. Training is a good idea, directing people to the specifics of the issue. I think that was another complaint people often had was lack of clarity on exactly why they got the strike. This solves that. It would also be nice if the system indicated whether it was the entire video or highlighted the section in the video timeline so people can more easily trim it out when possible.

Infringement is different but I agree this needs to be resolved too. I had a channel that had a silver play button, 40 million long format video views, almost 200K subs, 500 videos that I had painstakingly worked on for 3 years and it was simply deleted one night. I had a strike that didn't fit the purposed crime and then it was just gone. Answer "you are dedicated to a community guideline violation" i was never told what that violation was. We spent over $100K with attorneys trying to get YT to respond but to no avail. The current system is not here to help creators, it is completely flawed and empowers trolls and haters to attack online creators. Since the bot system fails to understand the content, the bot favors the troll and doubles down. It is an impossible system to learn from and to feel confident making content with. Making content is my FT job, I have large channels on every platform and this is where I see the most severe weaponization. YT is the best place for a creator who wants to survive off of their creations but I'm hopeful soon there will be an alternative because the abuse that I have experienced at the hands of this system has been devastating for me, and it shouldnt be like this.
