    Enchanted Movie Description:
In the fairy-tale land of Andalasia, pretty young Giselle frolics with her woodland pals, and falls in love with the handsome Prince Edward, but when Giselle arrives at the castle to marry her Prince Charming, his evil stepmother sends the princess-to-be to a place where there are `no happy ever afters': New York City. Cynical divorce lawyer Robert comes to her rescue, but can Giselle find her way back to her true love?
Enchanted is a 2007 American live-action/animated musical fantasy romantic comedy film directed by Kevin Lima and written by Bill Kelly. The film stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey, and Susan Sarandon, and focuses on an archetypal Disney Princess-to-be who is forced from her animated world into the live-action world of New York City.
The film is both a homage to and a self-parody of Disney's animated features, making numerous references to past works through the combination of live-action filmmaking, traditional animation, and computer-generated imagery. It also marks the return of traditional animation to a Disney feature film after the company's decision to move entirely to computer animation in 2004. Composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who had written songs for previous Disney films, wrote and produced the songs of Enchanted, with Menken also composing its score. The animated sequences were produced at James Baxter Animaton in Pasadena. Filming of the live-action segments took place around New York City.
Enchanted premiered on October 20, 2007 at the London Film Festival before its wide release on November 21, 2007 in the United States. It was critically well-received, established Adams as a leading lady, and earned more than $340 million worldwide at the box office. It won three Saturn Awards, Best Fantasy Film, Best Actress for Adams and Best Music for Menken. Enchanted also received two nominations at the 65th Golden Globe Awards and three Best Original Song nominations at the 80th Academy Awards. This is also the first film to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, after Disney ceased usage of its Buena Vista Pictures Distribution brand. A sequel, titled Disenchanted, is in development and is expected to premiere on Disney+.

Robert does treat Morgan like a mini adult, with "grown-up girl bonding time" and whatnot, so she might have gotten the preteen/teen "boys are visual creatures with next to no restraint" talk a good bit early from Robert, so she wouldn't get her heart broken early, with him being so cynical that he doesn't even find it strange that he's telling this to a *six-year-old.*

I think it would've been better if Giselle and Robert just helped each other get more out of their relationships. Giselle would get Robert to open himself to more romantic gestures and see the value in treating as something "more". Robert, meanwhile, would teach Giselle how to have meaningful relationships and get to know someone intimately before completely tying yourself to them. Robert would discover things about Nancy he never knew he loved and grow happier for it. Giselle would find that Phillip has some oafish qualities and has more than a little ego, but at his core is a good man who she could learn to love.
Robert would truly be ready to take that next big step with Nancy, and Giselle would be ready to start her romantic journey with Phillip, adventuring together.

Maybe it’s a stretch, but it feels like Giselle has some sort of… latent aura of fairytale magic around her, not something she can actively control (until the sequel apparently), but that influences the world as she interacts with it and makes things just a little more fairytale-ish around her - most notably seen during “That’s how you know”, of course. But anyway, my headcanon is that it was her fairytale aura magic that influenced the ball and made the whole “switch partners for the sad longing romantic dance number” thing happen, because it’s what she secretly wanted.

Shoutout to ALL the love this film gave to Disney OGs ♥ here's my top faves.
Starting with Julie Andrews, Mary Poppins, is the opening narrator!
    1. Jodi Benson, who is the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, has an on-camera role in Enchanted. Benson plays Sam, Robert's secretary at the law firm.
    2. Scene where Edward is flipping through TV channels in the hotel room, and a former Disney voice actor is portraying a soap opera star. Paige O'Hara voiced Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and she plays Angela in the soap opera that Edward pauses to watch.
    3. Judy Kuhn provided the singing voice to Pocahontas in the animated film, and she also has a brief cameo appearance in Enchanted. Kuhn's character is a pregnant mother and a tenant in Robert's apartment building, and Edward accidentally stumbles upon her door instead of Robert's as he searches for Giselle.
    4. Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella) and Mary Costa (the voice of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty) both make a brief appearance as guests at the ball.
    5. Edward searches for Giselle downtown while she is eating at the Bella Notte restaurant, a reference to the adorable scene from Lady and the Tramp.
    6. Robert’s law firm is named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarf’s songwriters: Frank Churchill, Leigh Harline, and Paul J. Smith.
    7. Nancy’s last name is Tremaine, a reference to the wicked stepmother in Cinderella.
    8. One of the elderly men dancing with yellow flowers appeared in Mary Poppins (1964!) as a chimney sweep!

And Idina Menzel, who plays Nancy is the voice of Elsa from Frozen. There's also an easter egg to her time as a Broadway star with the "Wicked" billboard in the background of the bus scene, which she was one of the original lead cast members.

I was having a blast every time I saw your bitter face because I felt exactly the same about Giselle and Robert's relationship! It's sweet and I know we're supposed to root for these two, but Nancy and Edward were just done so dirty.
Like, Edward came all the way to the real world and was looking for Giselle relentlessly just to get replaced like this.
He was ready to face whatever "danger" might've awaited him there. He didn't have someone who would show him around and teach him how stuff works here either. Meanwhile Giselle got lucky enough with having someone who would teach her about all these things on top of taking care of her. Making her fall for Robert after only two days and then she didn't even really want to spend a longer amount of time with Edward in order to give him a chance to get to know eachother better.
Then we got Nancy, who was so incredibly kind and chill about the whole deal too.
Like, as soon as Robert was able to explain things she was very understanding about the whole situation and actually trusted him when he said that there's nothing to worry about. Only to get ditched like this too! I agree 100% with Mello and wouldn't have been so kind about the whole thing either.
They've been in a relationship for how long? Five years? And Robert apparently never bothered to spend some good quality time together with Nancy or keep things more transparent with his daughter but then immediately throws this longterm relationship out of the window as soon as he gets to spend some time together with a woman who just happened to randomly fall into this arms. Come on! This really makes me wonder if Nancy and Edward were only written to end up together in order to not make Giselle and Robert look too bad.
Also, the way Nancy got antagonized by his daughter. Sorry to break it to you kid but technically Giselle is now your stepmom and Nancy is the princess.

After Giselle went to the real world, her and Edward never would've worked out. Edward's a good guy, but he's that typical Disney prince and Giselle didn't want that anymore. Plus, does Giselle really owe Edward anything after only knowing him for like two days lol. Also, Nancy and Robert wouldn't have worked out either. He was a bit too cynical, and she was a low key romantic. It all worked out for the best.

    • @AkaNovaChan
      @AkaNovaChan Рік тому +3

@@tmm4195 I think you're missing some points here. Giselle was nothing but a typical Disney "princess"character as well. (She still kinda is) The difference is that Giselle was able to spend more time adjusting to the real world thanks to Robert, while Edward spent most of his time in the real world looking for Giselle. If he got the same "welcome package" like Giselle, who knows how that would've impacted his character and at the end of the day Giselle still didn't really want to invest more time into getting to actually know him better.
Also, sorry but Giselle only knew Robert for two days as well before deciding that it's either Robert or that shady apple.
Also, Robert was literally singing to Giselle at this one point at the ball, which is also kinda lowkey romantic? He just put more dedication into it for Giselle.
And even if things magically worked out in the end, treating their partners like this still wasn't okay, at least in my book.

@@AkaNovaChan Giselle didn’t know Robert for long, but she knew him for longer than two days. At least a few weeks. You are talking like they treated their love interests horribly, but the realistic truth is that they just fell for different people. It’s how things work sometimes. Also Giselle gave Edward a chance when they went on a date, but she still wasn’t feeling him. I think it says a lot about Nancy and Edward as well that they literally left with each other the same day. They were clearly not that upset about it lol

      @AkaNovaChan Рік тому +2

@@tmm4195 The main events of the movie literally took place within two days. And yes, they didn't treat them with much respect. However, this is still a Disney movie so of course everything worked out and we're not supposed to question things.
Also, when you've mentioned that Giselle did give Edward a chance, are you talking about this rushed speeddate which lasted a couple of hours at best and was more about Giselle trying to buy time because she didn't want to leave, instead of actually getting to know Edward? Because I wouldn't really compare that to giving someone a real chance.
And about the Nancy - Edward thing, that's actually why I was wondering if this was something they've added to the movie in the end in order to make things work out without making Robert and Giselle look too bad. It certainly has that "Screw Everyone" type of energy. But then again, Disney movie!

@@AkaNovaChan If you’re not feeling a relationship with someone after a date, you have every right not to want to be with them. That’s kind of how dates work. Yes, Giselle going on a date with him for a few hours is giving Edward a chance. I also don’t get why you think they didn’t treat Edward with respect. They never treated him with disrespect and they were kind to him. Also, Edward was begging Robert to kiss Giselle and save her life. He just wanted her to live and be happy. It’s not like Edward was in love with Giselle. He was in love with the idea of love and happily ever after.

If it’s one thing I’ve learned is that billy and melo are such complex characters cause one minute they can be so sweet (rarely billy 🙄) and the next they can be dickheads (more so billy 🙄) all this just to say melo’s reaction is so sweet and his take on relationships and stuff and him loving rom coms yeah I just know he’s a hopeless romantic 😌 and lmaooo at him being mad at Giselle and (can’t remember his name) being together because he wanted the prince and her together is so funny 💀

The outfit that Giselle dresses her Statue is actually Robert’s ball outfit at the end of the movie proving that Edward wasn’t her true love. Also this was my first exposure to all the actors In this movie, well maybe except for Idena Menzel I can’t remember if I saw this movie before or after frozen🥶, also also it’s proven in the sequel that Giselle was raised by her animal friends.

I remember watching this movie in the 7th Grade. We were doing an end of the year party week and they were playing a different movie in all of the rooms. I choose this one because it looked funny and walked into a room with literally nothing but girls. Yeah, I was literally the only guy, not just in that room, but my ENTIRE GRADE, who'd wanted to see it. It was a good movie but those first few seconds after I walked in were awkward.
