      First: You should do one multi part test of all these engine oil additives. Side by side tests mixed with cheap oils would give us a good idea of which additive to use and whether we need to buy expensive oils if we use good additives. That's one idea.
      Second: test Japanese oils. Eneos, idumitzu, etc. They are stoking much curiosity on internet.
      Third: we appreciate your attention to accuracy, and the fact that we can trust you are not promoting a product.

I use their Engine treatment with Penzoil Ultra Platinum(learned about this from your tests which has saved me a lot of money for a top tier Engine Oil) I also use BestLine Transmission with Amsoil ATF, and add it in my Amsoil gear 75w-90, Amsoil Steering, and Acura/Honda AWD/differentials, Amsoil Oil Filter cause it filters to 20 microns, BestLine fuel treatment every 4 Fill ups, Amsoil PI every 4,000 miles, Amsoil Coolant and waiting for new BestLine wetter version to come out to add. A little investment goes a long way! And I use Amsoil brake fluid. I used to only use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and filter.

    So basically, the Bestline treated engine didn't fail due to metal seizing or high friction that ate the material as it happened to the 10W-30, but due to highly increased temperatures that created enough tension inside the crank's connecting rod that it broke apart. So, if the rod wouldn't blow up due to so much heat, the friction on the metal surfaces was still low enough to keep that engine still running a lot more. Just wow!
    And you say that there might be products that are even better than this already well proven product?
    Thank you very much man for this high quality review video in which you basically test what happens inside a combustion engine when treated, not just what happens on a cold roller bearing!

      Just keep in mind that running a 4 stroke without oil in the crankcase and only in the gas will only lubricate some of the top end of the engine. Having oil in the gas in a 2 stroke works because the gas/oil mix travels through the crankcase and lubricates the bottom end of the engine before going to the combustion chamber.

    • @ProjectFarm
      @ProjectFarm  6 років тому +7

      Grease seems like the best option for the connecting rod, but it'll likely have a difficult time dissipating heat. I hope you achieve great results!

    • @hansevensen8426
      @hansevensen8426 6 років тому

      Experimental Fun
      If you look at the failure mode of the engine, it's the connecting rod.
      A layer of oil acts as a cushion to protect parts from banging around.
      Grease may help for a while, but it would melt and fale eventually.
      If I had to guess it may add another 20 minutes to this test if someone packed the bearings with grease.

    • @badpony302
      @badpony302 6 років тому

      For other than testing, as he did here, why would you want to run a 4 stroke crankcase engine with no oil? If there was a space concern you could possibly go to a dry sump system with a spray jet or pressurized lube system. That would be considerably more complicated but very effective, if done properly. The oil in the fuel will do nothing to lube the connecting rod, crank, cam or valve system and it will likely do a poor job of lubricating the cylinder since the oil normally comes from below the rings. Just curious of the application you had in mind.

      My wife drove her Ford Focus without any coolant. A plastic connection part between block and coolant hose broke. I'm sorry I can't tell you how many miles she drove it. But when she noticed that the temperature gauge was in the red, she drove another couple of miles to park off of the highway. She called me, and drove there as quickly as I could. I walked up to her car, it didn't have a hot engine smell. I touched the hood but it wasn't hot. I checked the radiator first it was empty. Next I checked the oil, it looked and smelled normal. I had added a bottle of the Bestline during the last oil change. The engine never started to knock or smoke. After replacing the broken part I only added a new gallon of antifreeze. That was a year ago and the engine still runs good and has never needed to add more oil between oil changes. I'm convinced that the Bestline additive saved the engine.

      Okay so it's important to understand the oil rating system. Take 10w30 for instance. The ten is the viscosity. The 30 is the protection rating. The viscosity is for low temperatures. If you live in a cold climate you need lower viscosity. The lower the viscosity the faster your oil pump will work to get oil to where it needs to go. This is especially important in low temperatures because when you first start your engine the oil will be cold and thicker viscosity.
      The "protection" rating tells you at what pressure the oil will dissipate at. So for protection of Cams, lifters, cylinder, and other moving parts the higher the second number the better.

      @@palleh7742 Guys that race and/or put their engines through extreme condition while constantly rebuilding do get a very good idea of what oils and additives work better. That's a big part of the issue right. Most just have a daily driver they're trying to get 500k out of and it's so anecdotal with so many variables it's hard to tell. When you're pushing engines past the rpms and compression they were even designed for you can get a much better idea of what is helping and what isn't. It's not much different than these tests but it's real world, worst case scenarios where results are seen more immediately. Hope that helps.
      Edit- I guess what I'm saying is the average guy that gets a bill for a blown head gasket would be shocked at how trivial something like that is for others. I got a newer truck around 3yrs ago the expedition went to my son somewhere between 170k to 200k it had an oil pan leak I had the gasket and told my son he needed to change it and keep the bestline in it. And of course I asked him if he had been changing oil he says it changes it's self he just kept adding oil not changing it! He traded it in the other day for a newer vehicle it's still running fine with 260k on it. That is my real life experience with bestline. Now my newer truck is an ecodiesel that's starting to get some miles on it since it's a diesel I'm stuck on whether to use the bestline or the hotshots fr3.

It was more a result of good engine design and build quality than it was of the snake oils properties. Don't quote me on this, I just read it somewhere but I think the take away is that Briggs and Stratton build some tough engines.

      I have a better idea. Use butter to grease all the bearings, use bacon grease in place of motor oil and moonshine in place of gasoline. I have a pretty good idea how it would turn out, but the exhaust would probably smell delicious.

    when youve tested them all.. you need to retest the 2 or 3 best ones to see if you can repeat these results... science is the art and ability to replicate results consistently

    Try Archoil. I saw it on Jay Leno. Watch the video and see if you think it's worth a try. It's made in the USA

    PF, tonight I watched your oil/additives videos and I have to say that the bearing tests and the no oil run using the Best Line additive was impressive. On this video, after the engines failed, you pulled on the Best Line engine and although it had
    let-go, it was not seized, impressive. I’ve not used oil additives for several years, looks like I will be doing more research on the Best Line product... Thanks for your very informative, common sense videos 👍👍👍
    Question; how much additive do you need for a 6 quart and oil filter?

    Ahhh man i love this guy. That speach at the end was heartwarming, not taking sponsors, doing it for the people, they should call him honest farm.
    So few of your videos are relevant to my needs but i keep returning to them just to experience some honest content, as there is little out there these days!
    Many thanks PF!
