    Great video and thanks for sharing!! From what I can tell your lawn looks great. I just purchased a 42" Ikon and after the 1st mow put G6 Gator Blades on it. What a difference it made in clipping size and discharge. You'd swear you mulched it without all the clumps when you're done. I have been using them for years, but when I got the IKON the factory blades cut well, but left a mess in the yard because I can only get to mine once a week or so. They are pretty heavy, but will last forever. Also, a riding mower jack goes a long way for accessing that deck and keeping poo poo from running down your leg 😄

      Blades make such a difference! I’ve never tried Gators. I’ve heard nothing but great things about them! And I agree about a jack. I’ve been using a Ballard V2, so fast and no 💩 on my leg. 😂
      Thanks for watching!

    I would like to suggest spraying the underside with some silicon spray once it has been cleaned. The type of spray you can get at Wally World to waterproof a tent. Inexpensive and no oil to further clog the deck.

      I’ve thought about it! I know some companies make a deck spray. I’ve never used one though… yet. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Might I suggest protective eye wear while under that deck. It might prevent eye damage as well as an expensive trip to the eye doc.

    Ok im definitely gonna use the jack stands idea. Good video. I only cringed once when you threw the blades on the concrete lolol. Keep it up my dude 👍

      When I realized I could lift it up, I was like… yes! 🙌
      And tossing the blades probably wasn’t the best plan. I could have pre-dulled my razor blades before I was even able to enjoy the mow. 🫣
      Thanks for watching and commenting! Appreciate the feedback as well.

    Nice video. Due to back surgery I wouldn't dare try to lift my front end up like you. I have an overhead chain hoist that I used to lift up the front of my mower so I can get under and clean and sharpen blades. Nice-looking shop.

    • @theSuburbiaDad
      @theSuburbiaDad  Рік тому

      I need to do a shop tour! I pretty much built it all or got it second hand. It’s been great set up and has worked fantastic for close to 7 years.
      I don’t recommend lifting mowers like that! Definitely not commercial ones. Those weigh a million pounds.
      Thanks for watching! Stay healthy!

      It was. 😆 What’s bad is I said don’t do this as I did. I mowed 2 or 3 times before I realized what happened. I did a Live stream about it. So embarrassing. 😳 Email me your address and I’ll send you a Suburbia dad Sticker two. Have you ever put them on upside down? Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I came here primarily just to see what you greased, i.e., to see what zerks are on the mower. I appreciated all of the content, though, and enjoyed the vid. I was wondering, though (and I think it might have been what @MrStrangebrew06 was asking about 6 months ago), what the bar was behind the mower - the one with 12 wheels on it. I don't think that's the anti-scalp wheels like you said, is it? The bar I'm talking about is especially visible at around 0:58. Just curious. (Again, though - nice video, and thanks for posting.)

      Ah! That is my Big League Lawns stripe kit. It lays the blades of grass down to get those bold stripes!
      Here is a video of it in action….

    Can't figure out what those wheels are in the back on that bar what are those called and what do they do?

    • @theSuburbiaDad
      @theSuburbiaDad  6 місяців тому

      I am not sure if you are talking about the anti scalping wheels or not. I assume that is what you are referring to. These wheels theoretically stop the deck from getting too low on uneven ground to avoid too low of a cut on the lawn. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Just put mulching blades on my ikon, am I missing something how did you get the blades not to spin when loosening and tightening. I had to use a wooden block.

      When I take them off with a breaker bar, or hand tools, I have to use a board. With an impact socket drill, I don’t. Here is what I have to do when I do it by hand…

    • @theSuburbiaDad

      I had to measure it… 25.5 inches. I couldn’t find the six ton ones I have anymore. But I do have Amazon Brand ones like these… amzn.to/3SNdlw0
      You can find other 6 ton ones, but you don’t need them for the weight of the mower. But, if you need height, you may need a bigger ton rating or SUV / truck height ones.
