Sorry to keep bothering you guys. I misplaced my Manuel somewhere. I have the ikon XD 52. Is there hydraulics on it and if there is where to I check the fluid and the other thing is I was looking at the oil drain plug... Is there a trick to changing it to where you won't get it all over or a pipe or somthing that im missing? Me and my dad was looking and was wondering because the way its set up it would run all over the frame and I cant find any vids on the XD just the ariens X.
Not a problem! The Ikon XD-series uses a pair of maintenance-free, sealed Hydro-Gear transaxles, so there's no fluid level to check, nor will you need to service them. As for the oil-change procedure, we do have a short video that guides you through the process, but please understand this video is a couple years old and may not be 100% to your machine. Also, remember to use the oil drain tube that came in the literature pack supplied with your unit - this will help direct the drained oil away from your machine. You can watch the video here: ua-cam.com/video/sQzogQEmOlU/v-deo.html Finally, you can find the digital version of your operator's manual here: apache.ariens.com/manuals/05278800B_ENG.PDF
@@AriensChannel awesome thank you guys so much I'm trying to talk my neighbor into getting one told him you guys answer questions american made and got great stuff. Made the right choice.
Silly question but In my manual for my brand new Ikon XD 52 it says to be sure the fuel valve is in the on position... I cant find it.... Or I am not seeing it. I was a bit frustrated and on the verge of a meltdown after a crappy day at work and then the mower wouldnt stay running.... I watched the video to be sure i was starting it right but it would start to engage and then die! This would be my first time to mow with it. Please help.
Hi there, Tracy. We're sorry for the confusion, but Ikon XD models do not feature a fuel valve. Regarding the issue with your engine - ensure you're starting a cold engine with the choke knob pulled out, but push the choke back in slowly right after the engine starts. Let the unit run for a few seconds and move the throttle position to full. If you engine issue persists, please contact your nearest Ariens dealer. Our dealers are an extension of our team and will help you diagnose and resolve the issue. A dealer in your area can be found with our dealer locator tool located here: www.ariens.com/en-us/dealer-locator
Different topic: My Ariens IKON-X 42 ZTR, mod 915207, will turn 5 years old in a few weeks. It has the Briggs 22hp engine, now with 185 hours. I'm going to have to either tune it up, get different gas, or send it to the local dealer which will probably cost a few hundred bucks. I runs rough, and has done so since forever, but right now it will start easily but stop running after one or two minutes of load. Bummer. I've always had to run with the choke halfway out to keep it operating for the two hours it takes to mow half my yard, but now no choke setting will keep it running. Engine oil change: The way that engine is set into the frame prevents it from allowing the engine oil drain hose from flipping down and letting the engine oil drain away by gravity. So I got a small hand-pump oil pump, the kind with several different hose attachments. I needed the narrow but heavy gu0uge hose to vacuum up the oil out of the pan - heavy to keep it from collapsing under the pressure of the vacuum needed to draw up the 30w oil. It left a little behind, not enough to worry about, and was a much easier way to change oil than trying to invert the entire heavy rear end of the mower. I was angry with Ariens for not engineering some mount that would allow the oil drain hose to drain naturally, but the hand oil pump was fairly cheap and did the job well enough, so I got over it. The upside to those sealed transaxles is no fluid level to check, but that is the downside, too, since apparently they can't be re-built like the higher end transaxles. But first, check with Ariens to make sure I got that 'no re-build' comment correct.
Thanks for your comment. We're sorry you experienced some issues through the course of ownership on your Ikon X 42. You are correct that the sealed transaxles on your unit are not to be serviced or rebuilt. For any other questions related to service on your machine, please contact your nearest Ariens dealer. Our independently owned and operated Ariens dealers are an extension of our team and will be able to help you resolve any issues with your mower.
