Ok so other people have mentioned this, but look at the actual dialogue!!! B: Play K: Play? Can we play later? I gotta finish cleaning the floor. B: Play K: Heh, mom play (kind of), mom clean (it's not really play), then later, mom and Billy play. K: Mom, Billy play later. Mom and Billy play later, ok? B: No K: Hehehe! No? That's not ok? Billi, your hair gets everywhere. Later, ok? Later. B: Hmm? What? K: Yeah. I'm cleaning, Billi. B: (accidental press?) Hmmm? K: Is it weird? What is it? (shows the squeegee with hair) B: Billi back K: Back? Billi's back! Does Billi's back want pets? Or does Billi's back hurt? B: No K: No? You don't like this? (3 minutes later) B: Mad K: I'm coming! K: Ok. I'm done cleaning! All done! What does Billi want? B: Want play play (comes up to pet mom) B: Play food K: Play food? Hehehe. Can we play something else beside food? Can we play fan toy? Play fan toy hmmm? Do you wanna play fan toy? B: Where? K: Umm, here B: Pets K: Where pets? Pets can be right here. But do you wanna play fan toy? Play fan toy hmm? B: Outside That's so remarkably coherent!!! I wonder if Billi got mad because Kendra maybe didn't understand her answer about it being Billi back (her hair). But maybe it was just the wait and not doing what she wanted heh. I wonder if Billi remembers playing fan toy somewhere else, in the old apartment where it was on the fan? Maybe that was a different level of fan toy play. That could be another meaning of "outside" Did you play fan toy outside and was she happy? Sooo cute
Yes, this whole exchange was quite remarkable. I think you're right that "Billi back" meant "my fur"... after all, how else was she supposed to answer the question without a fur/hair button? She's gotta work with what she's got, and it was an impressive workaround, but Mom didn't even notice! When Mom suggested the fan toy, if you notice, Billi looks around before she says "where", so I thought she meant "where is it?", not "where can we play with it?" I guess the interpretation could depend on if the fan toy was already in her sight, but if it wasn't, I'd say the former is the more likely question. I'm glad I randomly picked this video to re-watch, as it's a good one to refer to the close-minded doubters. Of course it still wouldn't "prove" anything to them, as they seem incapable of using their own intuition in such matters.
Wow, "play food" is really the new big thing, isn't it? She keeps mentioning it. I showed the video with your music to my partner, he laughs less quickly at stuff than I do but he too was very impressed and amused by Billi's reaction to Hamilton 🤣
I noticed she is not meowing, remember my cat always used meow to tell me 'yes' or 'no' to something, this proves that cats are on human level of communication honestly. And yes my cat tried to mimic human voice tone to communicate let down ect
My late cat had mastered mimicking "hungry" so well that friends who didn't know he could do that understand it. My sister in law was shook. "Your cat just told me he's hungry 😮🤯"
"Excuse me, but I went to all the trouble of rubbing my back on the carpet to provide a nice comfortable nest for you - and there you go squeegeeing it all up. Mad!"
This is the first video I've seen where Billie gave a very clear no skepticism needed answer to a question What Billi want Want play. It's also very deliberate since want was far from play. She also seems to sometimes get certain things mixed up, which given her age and literally speaking a language, I don't blame her. She also seems to have to think a lot while deciding what to say and how to say it. Repetition has definitely payed off with her really getting the meaning of words. A word like want is much more impressive than play and food, because she understands it as a prerequisite to a thing that she desires. She might not always do it, as I think she tries to choose the easiest most simple ways to speak, which seems to fit with cat language as we know it, Simply stating "play, food, mad" etc are pretty clear by themselves. So it's cool to see her trying to formulate what she wants to indicate. She also may on some days just find it more troublesome and want to press any button and have someone know what she wants with out picking the right one. So her tail gets raring like a little motor as she tries to think of how to better say what she's trying to convey. It's really cute and endlessly fascinating because cats are pretty far from dogs in a lot of ways, let alone elephants, dolphins and apes which we all know seem to be pretty intelligent and learn forms of communication.
i think at 1:41 when Billi says "no" i think Billi is replying to when you asked "does you're back hurt?" i think Billy might have gotten distracted watching you clean and it seemed like Billi said no to you cleaning. So cute
Who would have guessed that the animals we think of as independent and low maintenance are in fact very needy and high maintenance if you give them the chance to communicate
It is very much possible Billie is using "back" to mean her fur as well. If you remove the wait times in between button presses, we get this conversation: Mom: "What is it?" *shows Billie a squeegee with her own fur* Billie: "Billie. Back." Mom: ""Back? Billie back? Does Billie back want pets? Or does Billie back hurt?" Billie: "No." I believe she was answering your question of "What is it?" and showed her the fur, and she answered it was Billie's back (her fur). And when you misconstrued her meaning, she said "no".
@@BilliSpeaks I think the OP got this exactly right! I mean, how else was she gonna answer your question without a fur/hair button? She's gotta work with what she's got! I’ve said this before on this channel. Moms work the hardest :,) Also after Billi said “back” she so adorably positioned herself in such a way that really seemed like she was expecting back pets

ok, so i made a comment (not on this channel) back then about how i find these buttons are unnecessary for animals. i do not know why, but now i feel dumb. the main reason behind it all went over my head and just think that we should let animals be animals without making them too human (that was my reason back then. stupid me) but seeing your videos with Billi change my views entirely. the main reason of these buttons just now hit me. our good bois and good girls wanted to be understood, and this device is helpful. to the video whom i commented said comment, i am now sorry. i have changed my views. it's just so fascinating now and so fun to watch on these good buds pressing buttons stating their inner thoughts, and how fun would it be to play a little Sherlock game where you interpret it (HAHAHA). oh how i wish i could do this to my previous pets. RIP to those who came before, and i miss our former house dog Odie. again, HAHA, your videos have made me realize that the buttons are indeed essential. i would love to connect on pets even more 😊
First off, I do love your relationship with Billie and how she adapts to her words! I am looking forward to watching your interaction each day, while I have my coffee. Regarding her wanting to 'play food': Save part of her food for play then each day. Cats and dogs like to work or hunt for their food. It is a big part of their day if they aren''t house pets. They need something to occupy their minds. You wouldn't like to be in your flat with nothing to do at all for the rest of your life either. Consider it her work while you are out working. There is a clever thing by a company called 'Doc and Phoebe'. Little mouse shaped containers with a cloth cover for the cat to dig their claws in and throw it around to get the kibble out. You get three of them in a pack and hide them in the house/flat for them to search/hunt down. My cat loves them to bits. Also consider buying a feed maze for her.
@@BilliSpeaks No, you are withholding a part of her normal food. Just subtract some of it of her usual food and safe it for play. Mine gets 50gr of kibble each day. She gets about 40gr for her mouse hunt and the rest is for treating her when we play together. I didn't mean for you to give her more, just to distribute it differently. BTW you two made me order buttons, too. And my mom is a huge fan of Billie. :-)
I interpreted her question as "wtf are you gathering from the floor" and her "Billi Back" as "that's from my body". I'm sure the owner would know better, but since it's all interpretive I wanted to offer that alternate interpretation up.

It's actually the logo for a skate company called ripndip.
I am constantly flabberghasted at the complex and deliberate high level thought in this communication. certainly NOT random
Is she gonna do it? She's gonna do it, isn't she? SHE DID IT! 😹😹
"Mad"
FINALLY! I knew Billi would hit the Mad button. Suspenseful.
Ok so other people have mentioned this, but look at the actual dialogue!!!
B: Play
K: Play? Can we play later? I gotta finish cleaning the floor.
B: Play
K: Heh, mom play (kind of), mom clean (it's not really play), then later, mom and Billy play.
K: Mom, Billy play later. Mom and Billy play later, ok?
B: No
K: Hehehe! No? That's not ok? Billi, your hair gets everywhere. Later, ok? Later.
B: Hmm? What?
K: Yeah. I'm cleaning, Billi.
B: (accidental press?) Hmmm?
K: Is it weird? What is it? (shows the squeegee with hair)
B: Billi back
K: Back? Billi's back! Does Billi's back want pets? Or does Billi's back hurt?
B: No
K: No? You don't like this?
(3 minutes later)
B: Mad
K: I'm coming!
K: Ok. I'm done cleaning! All done! What does Billi want?
B: Want play play
(comes up to pet mom)
B: Play food
K: Play food? Hehehe. Can we play something else beside food? Can we play fan toy? Play fan toy hmmm? Do you wanna play fan toy?
B: Where?
K: Umm, here
B: Pets
K: Where pets? Pets can be right here. But do you wanna play fan toy? Play fan toy hmm?
B: Outside
That's so remarkably coherent!!!
That could be another meaning of "outside"
Did you play fan toy outside and was she happy?
I definitely thought Billi was going to say "Later" when you said you were done and ready to play, because that is the sort of brat of a cat I have.
Billie: “This carpet smells like me. Why do you remove this, hooman?”
Maybe Billi is thinking... 'hooman I spent so much time to cover the carpet with my hair and scent, you are destroying my work!!' 😹😹😹
Wow, "play food" is really the new big thing, isn't it? She keeps mentioning it.
I showed the video with your music to my partner, he laughs less quickly at stuff than I do but he too was very impressed and amused by Billi's reaction to Hamilton 🤣
Billi angry walk to that “no” button was hilarious.
Billi still on a 'play food' kick, hm?
Been a while since we had a 'mad'.
Oh she’s thrilled she invented that game, it’s made her so happy
@@BilliSpeaks that's adorable
@@BilliSpeaks my cats are enjoying it now too!
And of course her favorite game "play food" 😂
Whenever the cat presses "MAD", i can barely stop laughing... Love her!
Billi: Why do you want to clean up my hair? It gives the place character!
Lol billi is hilariously cute
Billi is like "You removed the protective layer of cat hair! This cannot continue!"
I noticed she is not meowing, remember my cat always used meow to tell me 'yes' or 'no' to something, this proves that cats are on human level of communication honestly. And yes my cat tried to mimic human voice tone to communicate let down ect
On the same level of human communication?
Uhh.
@@Bebolife12345 not a full grown, neurotypical human-- but a young kid, under 5
My late cat had mastered mimicking "hungry" so well that friends who didn't know he could do that understand it. My sister in law was shook. "Your cat just told me he's hungry 😮🤯"
I like the fact that giving cats an outlet to speak they just get sassy
"Excuse me, but I went to all the trouble of rubbing my back on the carpet to provide a nice comfortable nest for you - and there you go squeegeeing it all up. Mad!"
This is the first video I've seen where Billie gave a very clear no skepticism needed answer to a question
What Billi want
Want play.
1:19 when he said billi's back he probably meant his fur, man this cat is so smart
Billi's back might be her trying to say that her hair on her back is what you are cleaning.
i think at 1:41 when Billi says "no" i think Billi is replying to when you asked "does you're back hurt?" i think Billy might have gotten distracted watching you clean and it seemed like Billi said no to you cleaning. So cute
billi’s back hurts from carrying this youtube channel
When you showed billy the hair off the floor, she recognized it belonging to her with "Billie" + "Back"
fascinating how she's taught her this, this could be monumental in terms of THE ORIGINS OF LANGUAGE.
1:18 "Billi, back"... Was she trying to say that that was fur from her back?? xD
I think she was trying to say scratch her back like you’re scratching the floor
"Play food" has really become her favorite type of playing, surpassing the worm
I wonder what she really wants by pressing play food
@@Rumblingbelly exactly what she says, playing with food. See the other videos around the time.
@@mirjanbouma Oh, ok…I didn’t see those. I though my she meant “predatory play,” and that was her way of saying it.
I was about to say she traded in mad for no and then...MAD. 😀🎉🎊
Who would have guessed that the animals we think of as independent and low maintenance are in fact very needy and high maintenance if you give them the chance to communicate
I *really* want to know what she really means by “play food”
Food that plays back by running and squeaking.
Billie invited the game a few days ago. Mom gets a few nuggets of food, and throws them. billie chases them and then consumes
@@travisbounds4746 I know what *Mom’s* interpretation of “play food” was, but I would love to know exactly what Billie had in mind, lol.
She's trying to hustle the owner for some food by way of "play" format
@@s0bad It just shows how smart she really is - as soon as she knows there is a system in place, she tries to cheat it xD
omg! thats one long conversation 😂
It is very much possible Billie is using "back" to mean her fur as well. If you remove the wait times in between button presses, we get this conversation:
Mom: "What is it?" *shows Billie a squeegee with her own fur*
Billie: "Billie. Back."
Mom: ""Back? Billie back? Does Billie back want pets? Or does Billie back hurt?"
Billie: "No."
I believe she was answering your question of "What is it?" and showed her the fur, and she answered it was Billie's back (her fur). And when you misconstrued her meaning, she said "no".
Fascinating!
@@BilliSpeaks I think the OP got this exactly right! I mean, how else was she gonna answer your question without a fur/hair button? She's gotta work with what she's got! I'd say that was a pretty impressive workaround, and Mom didn't even notice... no wonder she went for "mad", lol! This whole exchange was pretty remarkable really... glad I randomly decided to re-watch this one. :)
Billi: No.
Lol, I mean, she basically has a toddler's vocabulary and "no" is a very powerful word!
Oh my goodness! She is so smart! Love the Billi videos, just amazing.
I’ve said this before on this channel. Moms work the hardest :,)
Also after Billi said “back” she so adorably positioned herself in such a way that really seemed like she was expecting back pets
I think she wanted to try the squeegee on her back.
No one else seems to have mentioned this but when Billi asked “hmm... what?” While her momma was cleaning I freaked. Obviously there’s maybe a tendency towards confirmation bias, but that seems like a cat just asked what you were doing and why, which is pretty amazing to me.
This might be me looking way more into this than what it is, but this is insane to me. Ive watched a good few of these now and Im convinced that cats are on the level of chimps.
Thank you for captioning all of these!!!
OMG! You asked "What is this?" (showing fur) and she said "Billi's back"! :O :O :O
I've found that a rubber, soft-bristled broom is good at getting cat fur and hair out of the carpet before vacuuming. Billi is such a clever girl!
I fully expect a later episode where Billi has written on the wall "Call NASA. Solved FTL problem."
honestly i just think she is wanting pets and love all the time with you bc she is feeling close to you now that she has been given the means to communicate with you. I sense so much gratitude and love in between all these moments.
Well, this confirms my family's theory that animals hate when we clean.
Awww! Loved that convo!
The algorithm brought me here. Now I'm here forever
this channel keeps me going, my cat went missing and his name is also billi, so watching this helps me a lot :)
😢 I’m so sorry for your loss! I hope you find Billi soon.
@@BilliSpeaks thank you!! it’s shocking to me that you replied, thanks a lot and i also do hope he comes back :)
> Who else gets tired of the pet hair vacuums never puck up and ends up squeegeeing their carpet? Just me?
You need a vacuum with a motor-driven brush head.
ok, so i made a comment (not on this channel) back then about how i find these buttons are unnecessary for animals. i do not know why, but now i feel dumb. the main reason behind it all went over my head and just think that we should let animals be animals without making them too human (that was my reason back then. stupid me) but seeing your videos with Billi change my views entirely. the main reason of these buttons just now hit me. our good bois and good girls wanted to be understood, and this device is helpful.
to the video whom i commented said comment, i am now sorry. i have changed my views.
it's just so fascinating now and so fun to watch on these good buds pressing buttons stating their inner thoughts, and how fun would it be to play a little Sherlock game where you interpret it (HAHAHA). oh how i wish i could do this to my previous pets. RIP to those who came before, and i miss our former house dog Odie.
again, HAHA, your videos have made me realize that the buttons are indeed essential. i would love to connect on pets even more 😊
Thank you for these kind words! I’m so glad you enjoy watching, Billi sure enjoys learning 🥰
Maybe she was answering your question about what the squeegee smelled like. Smells like Billi back. Which it probably does.
the absolute excitement on billi’s faces when mom said “all done” though 🥺
We do 😊 if we “played food” every time she asks she’d be massively obese.
I got to give it to billie, shes a lady who knows her own mind!! Shes wonderful ☺️
I interpreted her question as "wtf are you gathering from the floor" and her "Billi Back" as "that's from my body". I'm sure the owner would know better, but since it's all interpretive I wanted to offer that alternate interpretation up.
Billi really wanted to play.
If she doesn't like you cleaning the carpet that way, then I guess you'll just have to use the DREADED VACUUM BEAST OF DOOM!
