A lifetime of experience with multiple cats: just like someone learning a language new to them, repeat the same simple words for the same action, short sentence, body language and pointing, keep it simple and short. I have never used 'buttons' (didn't exist) but there is body language. "Show me" and they take me to where the action will be: food (different spots for different type of food), play, outside, etc. Siamese have a wider vocal repertoire and seem to be more sensitive to words. Other cats seem to use more body language: head, tail, posture, etc and react to mine as well. I had a deaf cat and the moment I realised changed our relationship, using hand gestures or fingers to codify concepts and words: here, stop, eat, etc. The first day I realised and started doing it, she was so happy she learned 3 signs immediately and we never looked back. Finally I made sense and I knew why she wasn't following instructions. With a timber house, it was easy to bang in sequence the door, wall or floor to get her attention to come or turn around and look at me. She even learned to bang on the door to be let back in. She really is making use of her buttons - wonder how she got along all these years without them, lol! Its opened a whole new world for her to be able to communicate with her human - and she takes full advantage of the opportunity! :-) Fun times!
It’s so satisfying to watch you two be able to build your communication like this - even though there really aren’t enough buttons, BOTH OF YOU make it work. Isn’t that just awesome? It is. It is awesome.
This was so cool! I think you coming up with Outside Ouch was fantastic! Even with her limited vocabulary that seemed to have delivered the point to her wonderfully. I love Billi! She's very understanding when she want to be.
This makes me so happy. I’m autistic and I can go non-verbal when really stressed, so I know the frustration of not being able to speak. These animals really like to communicate when it is a tool given to them.
I wanted to tell you that I really appreciate all of the work you do to communicate with Billi. And thank you for uploading these videos for us to share in your adventures.
These are amazing I need to get some for my cat, she already meows like 20 different tones just to get me to understand her various situations, its hilarious that people think animals are stupid robots with no thought process or anything but cats are really intelligent, my cat has a very specific meowing sequence that means she wants to go outside, in other words she developed a language for various things she wants, food, clean her toilet, open door or go outside. And some various other ones I still have not figured out could be small talk for all I know.
I just realized how much I have in common with Billi. There's not a whole lot that can't be fixed with a few "pets", some catnip and the promise of maybe "later".
The way she is lashing her tail when she is pressing the mad button tracks as she is agitated. Then, when she does that little stretch when you've explained outside has an ouch lol. That's a kind of displacement behavior to alleviate conflict between cats. Clear the air type of thing. Her body language goes along with the verbal cues she is giving.
"Love you" - d'awwwwww... I feel like she's reassuring you that she knows it's not your fault. Either that, or she's hoping she can bribe you into fixing it faster.
These videos always really interest me, because alot of scientists dispute that they can actually understand these buttons. The evidence is building though.
I think this is the first time I’ve seen her use hmm. So cool! If she saw the fence break then I kind of think she was talking about it breaking. Mad all done. What better way to say that your stopping your function all together. Still so cool in any case!
She's actually used "hmm?" before this. One time she asked what Mom wants to play, or she was asking for suggestions. Might've been other times too, not sure.
this impresses me to not end that this floof is learning how to speak like a human with you! So cute! Sadly my cats would probably be too lazy to learn how to use the buttons unless if they were food related XD my mom's dog would just get too excited and press everything at once for a treat lmao
Would love to see someone try this with a Russian Blue. I swear my cat learned how to call out for Yum Yum by name lol. He's always been really smart but i think he's about to evolve into a Khajiit and this could push him over the line! I half expect to come home one day to find him peddling wares on the carpet.
We have two Russian blues (one old and one young) and I really want to try this I literally said today that I thought our young Russian Blue would be perfect for them. She just seems so... intelligent. If she ends up taking to the buttons, maybe we can make some videos of her. :) And I like the comparison of the khajit lol
She is adorable! If I ever get another pet I’m going to do this, it was my wish that my pets could talk to me and this is the closest to it I can imagine other than them vocalising the actual words. Thank you so much for doing these they really cheer me up immensely.

Next time, send them the video and explain your cat needs this fixed ASAP because she doesn’t want her outside to ouch anymore and would like to play outside. 😆 Excellent job, you two!
You're so consistent with modeling, repeating, confirming. 😍 My fave buttons trainer. Looking forward to getting our first buttons in a few weeks!
Good luck!!
@@BilliSpeaks I was really encouraged to discover Billi is 12! Tasha is 16. 🤞
@@BilliSpeaks And thanks!! 😊🙌🐾🐾😺
Aww that last look.. you broke her lil kitty heart.. hehe I love how smart she is.
Wow this was such a complex conversation! Well done, Billi (and Kendra)!
I love her little tail twitches 💕 and I live for daily Billi updates!!!
This cats getting smarter and smarter, i wonder if she got a kitten would billy teach it how to use the buttons
I wanted to tell you that I really appreciate all of the work you do to communicate with Billi. And thank you for uploading these videos for us to share in your adventures.
Pressing "Soon" to demand you expedite the repair schedule 😹
I just love billie and your relationship with her! You're such a brilliant cat mom 🤩
If you're making clothes for the channel, you need to have a cozy sweater that says "Outside ouch" on it 😅
When you said “soon” did I actually detect some skepticism in Billi’s expression? 🙂 I had a cat read my mind once...no joke.
She's so smart, I love watching her build sentences
These are amazing I need to get some for my cat, she already meows like 20 different tones just to get me to understand her various situations, its hilarious that people think animals are stupid robots with no thought process or anything but cats are really intelligent, my cat has a very specific meowing sequence that means she wants to go outside, in other words she developed a language for various things she wants, food, clean her toilet, open door or go outside. And some various other ones I still have not figured out could be small talk for all I know.
"Outside ouch" sums up the current world event
Awww, the hopeful look on her face when she pressed, soon? Such a smart cat.
She truly understands you! Amazing to see this sort of conversation between a cat and a human
I feel like I'm discovering a rabbit hole with these devices that teach animals english, but as a potential future pet owner, I'm here for it
I just realized how much I have in common with Billi. There's not a whole lot that can't be fixed with a few "pets", some catnip and the promise of maybe "later".
1) be heard. 2) be comforted. 3) receive a promise that the issue will be fixed.
Why is pets in quotation but not catnip? 👀
@@anxyxnxufxh4056 catnip is a proper noun, a real thing. "Pets" and "later" are concepts.
Just discovering your channel and wow, that's impressive ! I can't even tell how I feel about this, need buttons !
"Outside ouch" was a good choice!! It seems she understood. Love the "soon" followed by "love you." Clever girl! 😂
Billi is so smart! She understood everything. You have such a beautiful bond!! 💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻💓😻
This is amazing! To be able to communicate this way! You need a television show and a book deal. Bravo!!!😃👏👏👏
Billi on the inside - I know we have to stay inside mother, that is ENTIRELY the problem! Why are you not understanding this?
Billi with buttons - mad
"Love you" - d'awwwwww... I feel like she's reassuring you that she knows it's not your fault. Either that, or she's hoping she can bribe you into fixing it faster.
I am willing to watch billi for 1 hour and need not to skip any commercials. I am one devoted follower. 🐱
Whoa, that was kinda scary. I'd swear you had a real conversation with your cat.
Subscribed, of course. I need to see more of this.
I think Billi presses “hmm?” When she’s waiting for you to do something, just like when you press it when you want her to respond.
Billi is my spirit animal
When she doesn't immediately get her way,
*M* *A* *D*
LoL. Billies tail says so much. 😀😺💖
Cannot believe it. I watch her every day. Smart girl.
it took awhile but with "mad all done play outside" this cat surpasses my husband in communication
I'm not an overt cat person, but omg this cat is the best cat of all the cats. This cat makes me want to hug all the cats.
what a cute looking mad princess ^^
this impresses me to not end that this floof is learning how to speak like a human with you!
We have two Russian blues (one old and one young) and I really want to try this
I literally said today that I thought our young Russian Blue would be perfect for them. She just seems so... intelligent. If she ends up taking to the buttons, maybe we can make some videos of her. :)
And I like the comparison of the khajit lol
She is just amazing. You and Billi bring me so many smiles. Much needed smiles. Thank you for sharing your adorable Billi with us.
Such a sweet, smart girl
I've rewatched this like five times now! This was so amazing! 😍
I love Billi
This is so precious, it's wonderful seeing how much she has progressed since the last time I checked out this channel!
Shes so intelligent 🤩
She is adorable! If I ever get another pet I’m going to do this, it was my wish that my pets could talk to me and this is the closest to it I can imagine other than them vocalising the actual words. Thank you so much for doing these they really cheer me up immensely.
This is fascinating! It seems like she Billie has modelled "all done" to mean something is not available or not possible at the current time? Also I loved how she stopped and listened to you speak while you work we out what to say. I think she understood you were trying to communicate with her and was patiently waiting for your answer!
I like how Billi asked such an intellectual question that YOUR brain broke for a second🤣🤣
Also kudos to you (and others in the comment for making sense out of "all done mad..."), because i was just giggling at the idea of anyone saying "all done mad", nevermind a freaking cat lmaoo
