    Great video Jamie! I've now learned something new about my XR5!
    Please keep doing more of these types of video's if you can :-)

    Will the bearing cause noise if it is pulled out a bit?
    I changed my driveshaft because of a noise when accelerating straight or with the wheel turned to the right. It's coming from the right side.

    Wow, this seems a crazy design. Am I right in thinking that when on the vehicle, the only thing keeping the wheel and hub on the car is the press fit and retaining compound? What's to stop that bearing walking out until the whole wheel and hub come off? Am I missing something?

      yes and no. Yes it is just the retaining compound that holds it in place as its designed to be an interference fit. But no the hub cany physically walk all the way out the knuckle to the point where it can come off as the driveshaft's outer section goes through the hub and knuckle. but the shaft cant fit through the space where the hub/bearing is + even if it could the brake disc cant push past the brake caliper. Its a design that Ford inherited during their Volvo ownership, Volvo realised the issue with the hubs walking ever so slightly out and causing the ABS errors and then developed the locking brace. The mk3 Focus on the other hand being a newer vehicle has a circlip that prevents hub walk out

    Couldnt you just press the old one all the way back on and use the brace?

      yes, you could do but if you're going to reuse the original bearing its best to press it all the way out, clean it up then refit with bearing retainer compound & the brace. The retainer compound is the primary holder of it in the knuckle, the brace is a back up. If you were to just press it back in as is and put the brace on there is a risk that the bearings outer race then starts to rotate inside the knuckle which will damage the knuckle.

    Will a 6tone bench press do the job?

    • @OEMDeniedPerformance
      @OEMDeniedPerformance  Рік тому

      should do. Sometimes they move at around 2T worth of pressure but I have had them not moved till 6T before. Not very often though

    These can be installed on Vehicle as well..if not changing Hub Correct??

    Wow no circlip in hub hub carrier what stops the lot pulling out?

    • @OEMDeniedPerformance

      The idea behind Ford's design was bearing retainer compound would keep them in place. The next generation Focus knuckles were redesigned to incorporate a circlip. A work around for the mk2 is the lock brace

      @@OEMDeniedPerformance christ im suddenly doubting the safety of my ride after discovering the front bearings are more or less just glued in and harnessing all that power and handling. Ive got a spare pair of hub carriers and have had a good look at them, what a ridiculous idea even though it seems to work. How do you get the abs sensor out without ruining it? Never been able to remove one from any car ever

      @@Sloposse Should just pull out once you have removed the torx screw. If knuckle is rusty spray Wurth Rost Off Ice on it and should then be able to pop it out.
