2Kriss2Kross Im glad someone else said it before me. I had a choice between the 2012 Odyssey EX-L and the 2013 Sienna SE. Although i like the look of the Sienna SE (SE ONLY) better the over all feel of the Odyssey was WWAAAYYYY better.. and bigger on the inside
we bought the Honda Odyssey EX-L a few months ago after comparing all the top minivans for almost a year and couldn't be happier with our choice. I love the looks of it also.
A completely loaded Grand Caravan R/T is $10,000 cheaper than a loaded Sienna XLE in Canada (which is where I know these guys are based out of) , so while the Sienna is better looking and the van I would choose, the Grand Caravan is certainly better if you're looking for a budget conscious minivan.
They said the Honda has the worst Interior at the end but said the Design o fthe Caravan is the worst of the bunch??? Make your mind up. ill easily opted for the Caravan based on Value.
Comparing a base model to a top of the line model, if the top model toyota sienna was compared to the top model honda odyssey, the odyssey should have won.
The Odyssey wins in crash test ratings, mpg. Also, Honda magic seats in third row are known for being easy to take down in one pull, these guys need to build some muscle.
I own a Sienna, the true swagger wagon. It is like driving a Camry, it feels very comfortable and does have a pretty decent dashboard, 2014. Engine is powerful and it did really surprise me. Steering is very good with great feeling, you know exactly where the vehicle goes. In wintertime with lot of snow and tons of ice on the road surface the Sienna goes and goes without slipping and sliding, like some other minivans and cars. Sienna is so good that is really difficult to find faults. I know cars. I have been driving all kind of small, midsize vehicles with good handling and plain dangerous ones. Dn't judge before you test drive. Open your eyes and your mind.
Why spend so much on a family wagon that is only going to get you buy until the kids grow up. I went with the Dodge because it gives you the best bang for your buck and with the extra money I saved I put a down payment on a Ducati
This isn't a fair comparison...all models should be similarly equipped. You can't compare a base model vs a higher trim model and expect the base model to win....come on, guys....
MrRangerZr1 You can clearly see at 1:12 it's got an SE badge, which is a Canadian trim between LX and EX so not completely base model. Besides the Sienna does handle better, despite what they tell you, I've driven both and if you have performance enthusiast blood in you, you notice the difference. There are 2 great reasons also to get a Sienna: it has a timing chain over a timing belt so more than likely it'll never need to be changed whereas a timing belt needs to change every 90k miles, or it'll break and on an interference engine it'll destroy the valvetrain and probably the pistons. Then there's the AWD and if you live where it gets pounded with snow, you know that's a big plus since a lot of us don't have room to store a spare set of wheels for mounting snow tires.
I’ve driven both the caravan and sienna for work and I would have to say the caravan although it was an older design still felt solid on the road and over bumps the sienna drove like it would do a stoppie if you hit the brakes hard.. especially if no one was in the back . Sienna had better ergonomics and features but man the caravan just felt comfortable and safe to be in.
Santa Joe I had a 2012 town and country and i treated it like a sports car, drifting, hitting 100+, and driving extremely rough for over 1 year, it was extremely reliable and it wasn't meant for how i was treating it, and warranty covers everything so you dont need to worry about anything. but yea now i had a charger RT, but i had good times in that minivan
Didn't you hear him? the Toyota Sienna won. Chrysler not as refined not even there nearly 300hp motor is. Wish by the was a huge surprise. Lol I have to say would pick Sienna and Grand caravan over the honda because they look better then Honda oddessey.
If the only trim level offered on the Honda was the LX, then it's fair to say that it's not the best value in terms of features for dollars, but logically one has to consider that the closest Odyssey pricewise to Autoguide's Sienna is the EX-L, which has tri-zone climate control, push-button start, leather seats, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, along with a blindspot detection system. Comparing the value proposition of the vehicles is better done by spec'ing them up comparatively and then comparing price. I understand you only get what the automaker gives you, but the features in the other trim levels need acknowledgement. All that said, the Dodge certainly is the best value. Well thought-out video, and good to see you back Colum!
I used to like your videos except this one. You used a very base trim Honda LX to compare with the mid range Toyota SE is unfair. Either you didnt do your homework or was paid or fooled by Toyota.
Japan vs Japan vs America (Japan is Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna and America is Dodge Grand Caravan) And it’s unfair that we have the LX Model you have to use the EX-L or Touring
The new one? To be honest the Nissan Quest does not represent swagger like the Toyota, besides this guy just talked about modeling so to say but what about a crash? How would it respond? They should've added that...no hard feelings.
the Sienna the winner? with the horrible ride, ugly exterior and hard interior plastics? I rather take the Honda EX or EXL pay a little extra and get a better van overall
Yea my mom has an EX, I'm 18 so I've drove it, really embarrassed to admit that. But it would have been a fair test if they had an EX, it has more equipment, keyless entry, push button stop, sun shades, DVD, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity. The interior is better in the EX then the LX. The ride is good but it could use more power. Like maybe 270hp. I hardly drive my moms minivan, I prefer my dad's new Accord Sport V6 6speed.
Phu Doan no I'm not retarded, you try going back to an American brand after having the worst customer service on earth and a piece of shit that always needed something fixed. Bad quality and customer service pushed me away.
There you have it the best selling minivan in North America the cheapest and dodge invented the minivan back in 1984 ladies and gentlemen if you want an awesome minivan go with the Dodge it’s a better buy and in all reality with any vehicle it’s not about how reliable it is it’s all about how you maintain it !!!
The Toyota and Honda look like boats... I like the Dodge Caravan's design so much better, it looks a lot less weight. And yes, the stow and go seating is the most steps, but it's more flexible. You can have the seats positioned however you want, and besides... the only reason Honda or Toyota have the fold away seating is because Dodge pioneered it. Leg room in all rows is more than a Yukon/Tahoe/Escapade SUV... The cushioned seats are very comfortable IMO besides the arm rests... The stow and go seating is a live saver... people ask us all the time when we are moving a shelf or something "do you need to use my truck" and we say no because we've never had anything NOT fit in our van... The interior isn't ugly at all IMO, it looks pretty good and isn't as bulky looking as the other minivans... it does feel and drive more like a truck but you get used to it really quickly and they're very good minivans for maneuvering around... I work at a car rental place and people love the Dodge Caravan... getting into the the 3rd row is usually pretty easy just by pulling the lever on the seat, it folds over so you have miles of room to get into the 3rd row... We've never had any troubles with any of our minivans either, they're very reliable. My family owned a 2002 Dodge Caravan from 2001-2013 and at 350,000km we sold it for $3000 to a lady who then took it on several road trips. From the 12 years we owned that minivan the biggest problem we had was with the battery's terminal, where something wasn't touching something so the battery wasn't re charging itself. We got that fixed really easily just by using a hammer to hit something back into place (I can't remember that well haha). We then bought a 2013 Dodge Caravan in 2013, and we've had 0 problems ever since (besides a couple recalls that weren't too major and didn't take long to get fixed)... We have the SXT model of the caravan, same as the one in the video but different interior colors and painted with "Metallic Grey"... anyways we like our Caravan because it's pretty quick on the roads, pretty decent on fuel, and it's incredibly convenient. We've used the stow and go seating so many times... we're constantly on the move, abusing the van as well with hockey and baseball practices, and we give people rides since we've got 7 seats. We went to a friends Cottage, and on the way home they decided to come with us. That was 2 families, 7 people total. We fit our families suitcases in the floor (where the seats fold down to), and the rest fit in the back no problem without blocking the rear window. We've got almost 100,000 and the first 100,000kms have been a blast.
1984 dodge invented the mini van it’s the best !! All other car companies copied the Dodge design especially the Volkswagen van forgot the name of it but they copied the caravan design LOL just goes to show you dodge has it down pat !! Lol
You realize that nobody else has anything like the stow'n'go like Chryslers system, is because they can't. Chrysler holds hundreds of patents on folding seat designs...
The Sienna's interior, in my opinion, is easily the worst in this comparison. All of the plastics are hard, cheap, and don't fit together well. Odyssey and Grand Caravan are far better, with softer touch points on the doors, and higher quality (if still hard) plastics on the dash.
I have been in a new Odyssey and a new Sienna and I have to say the Sienna had so much obvious cheap plastic where as I didn't notice it so much in the Odyssey. For example, the top glove box that is on the dash is all an incredibly cheap plastic and it's huge... so while agree it has a good design it is totally destroyed by the cheap as plastic... in fact my mom's 2004 sienna has a nicer dash...
As car enthusiasts, it's difficult to stay focused on what a family will require when choosing a minivan. All those interior niceties and finishes will soon be destroyed by pee, poop and barf! My friend (a car guy) and his family recently bought a loaded, 2-year old, slightly used Dodge Caravan with 45,000 miles for $12,000.00! The Honda and Toyota may be nicer, but even in the used market they are going to cost $10k to $12k more. That's $10,000.00 that can go towards food, diapers, college funds, etc... or even a second Caravan!!! When families look at the cost, there really is no comparison between these three.
How much did Toyota pay them to write this review, the interior of the Sienna has the cheapest materials by far, the 2nd row seats can't be removed and things that your kids are going to drop are going to get in those seat sliding rails, folding the back seats in the Sienna needs a bit of a reach whereas in the Odyssey it has a very long strap that you can pull very easily, power doesn't matter in a van, neither does AWD.
I test drove both Sienna and Odyssey but bought Odyssey b/c it seats 8 at the Touring or highest trim. For some odd reason Sienna doesn't offer 8th middle seat at XLE AWD model and my wife wanted it AWD but also need 8 seater more. The Odyssey is the best driving of the 3. Honda's are always built to perform while Toyota was built for driving Miss Daisy. The Sienna SE model will be bad for blizzard anyway without AWD. I agree with all commentors about comparison of similar Trims or go with the sticker price limits. Why don't they compare Sienna LE base against Odyssey Elite Touring to see how cheap the Odyssey interior is. As for the Grand Caravan or Town & Country, is a rental. Oh it only seats 6 and maybe 7 if they are kids. The rare room can't fit small adults.
Okay, AutoGuide. Judging by a lot of the comments made by YOUR viewers and subscribers, you'll need the automakers to send you vehicles of equal trim to compare. How about doing mid trim vehicles like sienna LE vs Odyssey EX vs Caravan SXT? Or all the most popular trims compete each other? That would be the most fair comparison for the consumer to watch and decide. No more top trim vs base model, unless it's the same vehicle and you're only showing us why each trim could be better than the other. (Value/which features are worth the price/etc) Just a thought.
2:01 "Although this van isn't much to look at inside and out...." What on earth is that supposed to mean? What is the "correct" way for a minivan to look on the inside and out?
The fact that the odyssey was still runner up at the base model (when you asked for the base model) shows that it’s still the best overall. Inconsistent comparison.
"kids are expensive" so is love buddy! Does that mean you need to bring that up at a car review? I think there are other better catch phrases but, great way to alienate every parent who already has kids!
Don't forget the Sienna is the only minivan left to offer AWD. If you're buying a van for the wife and don't want her having any trouble in a blizzard, get the AWD Sienna. With winter tires they're just about unstoppable, and being a truck driver I'm not home to shovel snow for her, but with AWD she can get out and not be stranded at home with the kids.
+ManyRadomThings That's not true, because the platform of both the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan are built on;... was designed by Mercedes, and actually consumer reports tested as being the most reliable of all minivans. Buts all preference.
Get the Honda Odyssey with the EX trim level and it should be able to slaughter the sienna. The most important things about a minivan is practicality (equal) and ride quality (Honda wins here). So yeah the odyssey is the best minivan for the family.
Even if you were to say the odyssey that was compared wasn't the one you choose okay so what if you have the top trim odyssey, than compare it to the limited all wheel drive sienna. N than that be fair. If they did the top of the line minivans, I'm more than positive Toyota and Honda be the top two minivans.
Everyone just face it. The dodge is always best. I have one and it is a 2004 model. My parents bought it brand new, and it has lasted 12 years so far. It sometimes needs repairs (because it is old), and has rust on it. But does rust really matter when you have a vehicle that is old? Hope everyone agree's that the honda is ugly.
Dodge is this best. These guys are not very best in judging . I get 28mpg on my grand caravan and all my seats are very comfortable in my dodge caravan.
I do think the sienna wins overall. However, think the caravan looks better than the sienna. The caravan borrows styling from charger, and just looks more.....sporting. The Toyota however looks like a fat prius and old celica gt had a deformed baby. I mean sub nose, big wheel wells, a vast windshield. GROSS! Dodge just makes a better to look at car. I agree on everything else.
I have drove all three cars. The caravan is the biggest piece of crap. The plastic rattles and it's a noisy uncomfortable car. Even though the car is small than the other two, the car isn't really easier to park. It's quite hard to believe that the caravan has more HP than the odyssey because I had to floor the caravan to get up a hill on the freeway. Meanwhile odyssey breezed through my recent 250 mile trip up north. The sienna was comfortable and smooth and that's all I can remember. I really like the odyssey's steering and the practicality.
Have you driven a sienna. Honda sucks when it comes to suv, trucks, and vans. Honda is only good making small cars and even than toyota is still better
toyotomimasayuki Well, that's your opinion, i driver and owned Toyota after Toyota. YES they are great cars and YES they are reliable but when i comes to this comparison i would take the Honda, It's just more sophisticated, comfortable, it's also more multipurpose. I no longer buy Toyota's i have a 2015 Nissan Frontier 4x4 for me and a 2015 Subaru WRX for my wife. Toyota needs to make more exciting cars if they want my busyness !
I used to be an oddysey lover for so long until toyota released this beuty with that beutiful styling omg that thing looks good... it almost looks like a lexus...
Remove all or the back seats on a budget model and you have a really nice cargo van! You can keep the dvd and all the other unnecessary, unneeded add on stuff. Regular cargo vans are noisy and ugly.
It's funny how the Odyssey is actually updated, revamped, and better, but the Sienna took it's place and Toyota did nothing to it for 2014? I still love my 2011 Odyssey EX-L.
Phu Doan ***** We rented a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan the other day. It was such a piece of shit compared to my Odyssey. Americans do NOT know how to make vehicles.
What a horrible comparison They should each be the highest models anyway I would take a Odyssey elite it has navigation and vacuum cleaner and the third row is very easy to fold down it has power tailgate sunshades power doors rear entertainment system with six speed automatic transmission. It even has blindspot system and has automatic emergency braking with Lane keep assist heated front seats.
Honda was the only one that played by the rules and sent a true base model.
Comparing a base Odyssey to a mid-level Sienna and Grand Caravan, sounds fair.
What did you choose?
Kory Hay
2Kriss2Kross odyssey ex-l with DVD. Love it
Al Bundy actually there is a grand voyager in this world somewhere. It called lea grand voyager. I might of spelled word wrong. Sorry
we bought the Honda Odyssey EX-L a few months ago after comparing all the top minivans for almost a year and couldn't be happier with our choice. I love the looks of it also.
The Sienna has the looks! Plus it does not require a timing belt at 100k like the Honda because it has a timing chain.
Reality Check: Odyssey's steering is "overboosted and vague feeling" because Soccer Moms aren't strong armed race car drivers.
They said the Honda has the worst Interior at the end but said the Design o fthe Caravan is the worst of the bunch??? Make your mind up. ill easily opted for the Caravan based on Value.
Tomaz Hilton The Honda has a really cheap interior that’s ugly but the caravan is the worst.
I would still get the Grand Caravan.
Comparing a base model to a top of the line model, if the top model toyota sienna was compared to the top model honda odyssey, the odyssey should have won.
That toyota model was not its top model
The limited awd is toyota Siena's top model.
The Odyssey wins in crash test ratings, mpg. Also, Honda magic seats in third row are known for being easy to take down in one pull, these guys need to build some muscle.
I think this test is a bit unfair. Truth be told, you should get an Odyssey EX. That's the only way the Odyssey could compare.
No the sienna was $35k and the honda was 30k it's not a fair comparison 5k difference TOYOTA PAID YOU GUYS!!!!!

i dont care about looks. which one is most reliable and wont die on the freeway
Why spend so much on a family wagon that is only going to get you buy until the kids grow up.
I went with the Dodge because it gives you the best bang for your buck and with the extra money I saved I put a down payment on a Ducati
You will be making two bad choices or maybe you already did. Buy sienna pr odyssey and used Japanese motorcycle
@@neurozero odyssey has been plague with faulty transmission. Stay away from that one.

Seems like that caravan design has been around for 20 years.
I agree all the steps are quite a bit for the cargo area on Dodge/ Chrysler but how is following 1-4 confusing?
As car enthusiasts, it's difficult to stay focused on what a family will require when choosing a minivan. All those interior niceties and finishes will soon be destroyed by pee, poop and barf!
Y'all should have waited until the new Kia Sedona comes out.
Guys condoms prevent these, so please use protection XD
So do vasectomies! XD
ZombieFamilyy whats that?
+Prime Aestheticx a great medical advancement for depriving the gun of bullets. XD
2:01 "Although this van isn't much to look at inside and out...." What on earth is that supposed to mean? What is the "correct" way for a minivan to look on the inside and out?
The Toyota was outdated in 2014.
The fact that the odyssey was still runner up at the base model (when you asked for the base model) shows that it’s still the best overall. Inconsistent comparison.
you guys should buy the 2015 sieanna because it could be awd
haha..a minivan with a sport suspension..? .what an innovative idea...
I am going with the Sienna ty.
Pmpbreeze Ogah just purchased it and my wife loves it.
What about the Kia Sedona?
The SE has larger rims, which probably negatively impacts the mpg.
I like the dodge
ok
+ManyRadomThings That's not true, because the platform of both the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan are built on;... was designed by Mercedes, and actually consumer reports tested as being the most reliable of all minivans. Buts all preference.
toyota clearly paid you guys for this review
@ManyRadomThings no it was toyota that paid them ya dumb shit
That odessey is an SE NOT LX
Get the Honda Odyssey with the EX trim level and it should be able to slaughter the sienna. The most important things about a minivan is practicality (equal) and ride quality (Honda wins here). So yeah the odyssey is the best minivan for the family.
I think they were pulling an April fool's joke.
Honda odyssey the best.
Its pretty much dead tho now
A soccer mom's dream! haha But I think most move to SUV's or the sub SUV's.
Sometimes, you want that automatic slide doors.
why wouldn't get the touring oddesey
probably because its over 40k. if anything they could have used the EX-L
Honda and Toyota have to watch out for Dodge
who buys a lx odyssey?
DONT WATCH THIS VIDEO GO TO CONSUMER REPORTS INSTEAD OF WATCHING THIS UNFAIR TEST
Come On this is the basic odyssey you can't expect the greatest interior quality and design in an LX plus the other vans weren't even the base models
I should get a Chrystler Pacifica even tho it’s not 2014
The Toyota should be last in my opinion, the dodge and Honda are far better.
Charlie Fox don't forget about the children and the sienna is the best selling
Dodge is this best. These guys are not very best in judging . I get 28mpg on my grand caravan and all my seats are very comfortable in my dodge caravan.
I do think the sienna wins overall. However, think the caravan looks better than the sienna. The caravan borrows styling from charger, and just looks more.....sporting. The Toyota however looks like a fat prius and old celica gt had a deformed baby. I mean sub nose, big wheel wells, a vast windshield. GROSS! Dodge just makes a better to look at car. I agree on everything else.
Okay I have to say Toyota is the best car selling if it’s for v6 or minivans
I have drove all three cars. The caravan is the biggest piece of crap. The plastic rattles and it's a noisy uncomfortable car. Even though the car is small than the other two, the car isn't really easier to park. It's quite hard to believe that the caravan has more HP than the odyssey because I had to floor the caravan to get up a hill on the freeway. Meanwhile odyssey breezed through my recent 250 mile trip up north. The sienna was comfortable and smooth and that's all I can remember. I really like the odyssey's steering and the practicality.
I prefer the Honda, and I'm a Toyota guy.
Shot in Toronto, yay!
Where abouts? Backdrop and buildings remind me of Morningside / Highland creek area.
looks like don mills south of overlea in the thorncliffe park area
I used to be an oddysey lover for so long until toyota released this beuty with that beutiful styling omg that thing looks good... it almost looks like a lexus...
God I hate your avatar I thought it was a hair on my monitor
We owned both the Toyota and the Caravan, the Caravan was a much better vehicle, much quieter and far more reliable.
The Sto-N-Go Dodge is way better because of all the things it can do that the others can't!
rather take a kia sedona.
Honda odyssey is a nightmare transmission is a piece of junk always breaking down I switched to Toyota sienna and I'm very happy now
Remove all or the back seats on a budget model and you have a really nice cargo van! You can keep the dvd and all the other unnecessary, unneeded add on stuff. Regular cargo vans are noisy and ugly.
unfair matchup
i take the Toyota van!!!!!!!!....nice.. yall haters!!!
The Honda Odyssey "used to" be the best vehicle in its class, now it's the Sienna but who knows for how long.
It's funny how the Odyssey is actually updated, revamped, and better, but the Sienna took it's place and Toyota did nothing to it for 2014? I still love my 2011 Odyssey EX-L.
I think that the honda is still the best they just got the lower end model. That want it was claimed in this video.
DF Grand caravan is best in class. The reason why its the best selling minivan ever created.
Phu Doan ***** We rented a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan the other day. It was such a piece of shit compared to my Odyssey. Americans do NOT know how to make vehicles.
Phu Doan who cares? The seats and windows and design flaws of everything made it such a piece of shit
the jdm oddysey looks so much cooler than the usdm counterpart. im glad we get them in nz
They must be get paid by toyota thats why they comparing toyota se to oddsey lx
did they send them those models? so its really honda fault for not sending there highest trim like the others
Hey this video was strange but if you go back and look again although they say the Honda is lx the badge on the back suggest its an se
If they had waited another 6 months a 2015 Kia Sedona LX would have killed it against these competitors.
Engine issues on that car. Massive class action lawsuits against kia. Google it
Independent institute of highway safety? Lol u mean Insurance Institute of Highway safety!
You can't say odyssey is the worst that's the LX the LX is the worst model use a touring elite
