    Be careful what you tell your little children about themselves.

    Golden age of therapy:
    ==================
    Daughter: annoys (or it seems so)
    Mother: goes to a psychiatrist and complains that her daughter annoys her
    Psychiatrist: prescribes psycho pills to the daughter
    BTW I like the girl. She would be surely my friend, if I would be at the same age.

    • @bujustic
      @bujustic 3 роки тому +2

      Agree with the sentiment but a lot of people with a range of mental illnesses/neurodivergences take medication and it vastly improves their day to day functioning so it feels a little unfair to disparage them as 'psycho pills'

    • @StackOverflow80
      @StackOverflow80 3 роки тому +2

      @@bujustic My point is not to disparage psychiatric medication, but rather its unnecessary usage. And such a naive belief that medicaments miraculously cure people's souls and relationships. In case of that girl I would first ask if her parents are all right? Troubled children are often mirrors of their troubled parents. Btw. my mother also sent me to a psychiatrist because of my misbehaviour and I was prescribed with the pills. Her marital problems were somehow not the topic at the interview with the doctor.

    • @bujustic
      @bujustic 3 роки тому +1

      @@StackOverflow80 As I said, I completely support your sentiment, though I'd argue that naive belief certainly isn't the medical consensus and doesn't seem common in the people who are prescribed medications. My point is that you can absolutely say all of that without depicting the pills themselves as the problem and especially without using an outdated and derogatory term like 'psycho', which implies violent and neurotic behaviour in the people who are prescribed them when this isn't often the case

    I grew up in the 1960's. Hitting and spanking were so common. I saw my friends hit all the time. I was spanked. It was very common, particularly among European immigrant families. Hitting kids was expected because if you "spare the rod, you spoil the child." I can't even imagine hitting anyone now - particularly children. It was so icky and toxic. There were some things that were so great then but some things so bad, like hitting kids.

    The black sheep of the family. I related to this lmao.
    When you’re seen as the outsider it’s like an unwritten rule; everything that goes wrong is your fault. At times even when there’s no way you could’ve been involved in whatever happened. And when you yourself have a problem, any type of observable problem, it’s acknowledged with indifference at best. At worst, your problems are tearing the family apart, ruining your parent’s mood and wellbeing.
    While she didn’t elaborate on her “black sheep” status, to me that’s what the label means. Often to them you’re not just eccentric or odd, you’re the perfect opportunity for the family to create a convenient narrative in which there’s a singular source for most, if not all, their problems. They need a villain in their lives because they struggle to be introspective. What better person to cast the blame onto than the mentally ill, emotionally distant family member?

    Let's see. Dramatic affectation, admitted deception and she has clearly done more homework than the average teen...inferiority complex. She is smartest person in the room she wagers. I'm SURE it is all her mothers fault.

      plenty of the comments mention her apparent intelligence. what reason could you possibly have to doubt it? she herself doesn't mention being smart, only curious and inquisitive. it's completely fair to ask why you're being told (not) to do something. if anyone, including a parent orders something, they should be able to justify it. otherwise, inforcing obedience would do more damage than good in the long run, for a child. after all, they do grow up eventually. abusers leave their victims susceptible to other abusers, later in life. you shouldn't teach a kid to mindlessly follow commands.

      @@Skinfaxi this isn't the full picture, so there's absolutely no way you could draw a conclusion about the 'objective reality', honey. these were her parents. their treatment of her is bound to be significant. not to mention, she's a kid. parents are supposed to understand that. i don't know what you're inferring, but if you mean to say that her parents are coping and she's not, that suggests a lack of empathy. you should take a look at yourself. she, a child, has been pushed to the edge. to the point that she wanted to die, but her caretakers didn't even take it seriously. they, like you, were dismissive and patronizing. this is a young girl. i pray you don't have such access to any vulnerable children, as a parent or any other role that grants so much power to abuse.

    Self medicated or smoking is masking whats going on inside. Sounds like a little bit bullying. Who would want to take a bus when you cant even feel comfortable on the rides. Avoiding the bus rides, gives you a sense there is another advocace at the school as well. Like running into someone you dont like, or avoiding gym class for reason.
