Make one recipe of either the Desert Date Shake or The Guilt-Free Frappucino and pour into your Ninja Creami pint up to the fill line. Freeze for 24 hours and then spin on lite ice cream.
DESERT DATE SHAKE (from page 189 of Own Your Health)
This treat is reverse-engineered. You see, I had never even heard of date shakes until I moved to the desert. Then I couldn’t wait to try them. Unfortunately, almost all the places made them with either dairy or sugar or both! And the one place that made a compliant shake charged almost ten dollars! So, of course, I bought one and tasted it to figure out how to make it myself. And now you can make your very own!
    INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of unsweetened non-dairy milk
    3 large Medjool dates, pitted
2 ripe bananas, peeled and frozen
    1 teaspoon vanilla powder
    ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
    ¼ cup rolled oats
    1 teaspoon chia seeds
    PREPARATION:
Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth and creamy. For a thicker shake, add a few ice cubes.
    CHEF’S NOTE:
When I worked at the TrueNorth Health Center, we were not permitted to use either regular vanilla extract, as it contains alcohol, or alcohol-free vanilla extract, as it contains glycerin. Using whole vanilla beans is extremely expensive, so I began using vanilla powder. It made such a difference in flavor that I simply could not go back to using the inferior extracts. Here the vanilla powder is essential to achieve the authentic flavor of the date shakes of the desert. If you can’t find vanilla powder in grocery stores, you’ll find it on Amazon.
Guilt-Free Frappuccino (from page 46 of the 10Th Anniversary of Unprocessed)
A small Frappuccino at Starbucks has 350 calories, 44 grams of sugar, and 17 grams of fat! My version contains virtually no fat and has a fraction of the calories, and the only sugar comes from fruit.
    2 large frozen bananas
    1 cup unsweetened nondairy milk
3 to 4 large medjool dates, pitted (depending on how sweet you like it)
    ¼ cup rolled oats
1½ tablespoons Sei Mee Roasted Brown Rice Coffee,
(For a discount on Sei Mee Tea products go to: groundgreentea...

    1 teaspoon chia seeds
    1 teaspoon vanilla powder
    ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Put all the ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth and creamy. For a thicker shake, add ice cubes after the other ingredients have been blended and process until the desired thickness is achieved.
    Chef’s Notes:
    ● When I worked at the TrueNorth Health Center, we were not permitted to use either regular vanilla extract (since it contains alcohol) or alcohol-free vanilla extract (since it contains glycerin). Using whole vanilla beans is extremely expensive, so I began using vanilla powder. It made such a difference in flavor that I simply could not go back to using the inferior extracts. For this recipe, the vanilla powder is essential in order to achieve the authentic flavor of the date shakes of the desert. If you can’t find pure vanilla powder in grocery stores, you’ll find it on Amazon.
    ● To make fudgesicles, pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze.

Dates and bananas are a wonderful way to add sweetness to a dessert. Thank you for promoting that. I have noticed that many presenters wave their arms and hands around as they speak. That seems to be quite natural for many people, though i never notice it among my friends and acquaintances. So why now? A video is all about a visual presentation, you usually don't see the whole person, but just the business at hand (pun). I find videos with motion confined to the task being shown to be significantly more powerful. What do you think? Anyway, you are a whole person, and I appreciate what you have done.

Oh - never through to use oats - I imagine that helps with the creamy?

I just made this for the first time, and so far it’s my absolute favorite of all the things I’ve made with the creami. It has the most ice cream like texture of anything I’ve tried. I love the flavor too, which surprised me. Super rich tasting, not all/only banana flavor. I think the fresh nutmeg makes the difference.

Perfect timing! My Creami just arrived this morning. I've been wondering if I could recreate a date shake and also something coffee flavored. Turns out, I already own your books with the recipes!
Now I can dig into Kathy Hester's course.

What is wrong with using glycerine?

Because it is derived from animal fats and oils...why would you need it?
