I think Patsy is just in the Patsy category. Soothing and achingly beautiful
AGREED❤🇺🇲
She is 100% classic country
This is actually a crossover adult contemporary song, NOT country. She just happened to be a country singer.
@melissa This transcends country music.
@ffjsb I was not referring to this song, but the person herself, she was, is, and will always remain The First Queen of Country music. Hence my original post.
@@melissawood1506🙏🫶🙌
***WALKIN' AFTER MIDNIGHT*** has to be next! She was Queen of classic country & western 60s. (died 1963) You should check out Loretta Lynn bio pic "Coal Miner's Daughter", she is featured in the movie, too. She mentored young Loretta in music and life.
ironically I have read several places she hated the song
Also need to see Sweet Dreams. It's Patsy Clines life story
Oh, how I have been waiting for this one. This song was written by Country Music Hall of Fame artist Don Gibson. The record was released after Patsy was killed in a plane crash. It means something special to me because I was in the U.S. Army when it was popular and it was the one song soldiers would play when they got that "Dear John" letter from the girl back home, dumping them. Soldiers would play this song and tears would roll down their cheek as they drank a six pack of beer. I can visualize it now. Great reaction, BP.
Dude after reading your comment their are no words to top that then someone experiencing something like that in the moment. 💔 Thank you for your service and memories. 🇺🇸
@@myntami Thank you. Vietnam was raging and soldier boys were already lonesome but when that song came on, almost everyone teared up, but you couldn't stop listening. It was real. I didn't get that Dear John letter but so many of my buddies did. It was tough in 1966.
@@jayhank5838Wow, I can only imagine! My older brother was born that year. My Grandfather and Father both served and the stories were hard to hear. Grandpa mostly only told the men and couldn't tell some of them at all. 😔😭
My grandpa was in the Korean War and would only point at one young soldier in the photo of his platoon, say he was his best friend and he watched him get shot up right next to him. Never said anything else but I bet when heard this song it brought back memories of that time back. RIP grandpa Bob. This song hits the soul for sure.
I love Patsy Cline! My favorites are I Fall to Pieces and Back in Baby’s Arms
I Fall To Pieces and Walking After Midnight !!!!
@michaelsemones If you fell to pieces how could you be walking after midnight?
@davidcopson5800 See Thriller. 😂 But seriously, love both those songs.
Walking after midnight!!!!! My mom adores Patsy and introduced me to her. ☮️💜☮️💜☮️💜
@@davidcopson5800😂
@@rebeccacurtis6680 I love the words of her song, "sweet beans and stew". Always makes me feel hungry.
The purest, clearest voice ever heard. 💖
60 years ago... no fancy studio's, no auto tune... just raw talent like no other.
Absolutely! You hit the nail on the head completely! TALENT!
When many of us say today's Country isn't Country Music.... It's because of Greats like Patsy, Loretta, George Jones, Web Pierce, Conway Twitty, Charlie Pride, Waylon Jennings and so many others... What's considered Old Country now.
This is my favorite Patsy song!
Truth
My fave Patsy song!!!!!! The control she has is unmatched!!!!! And YES, Patsy is country…classic country!!!
Mine too!
mine is If YOu've GOt Leaving on Your Mind
Same here. The words just wring your heart.
Patsy-voice of an angel-gone way too soon. Thank you for bringing attention to this American treasure. You’re the best!
Patsy's voice transcends all music genres....
*transcends
her life story was told in the film 'Sweet Dreams' starring Jessica Lange- Lange received an Oscar nomination for the role.
Patsy Cline had one of the greatest voices to ever grace God's green earth.
Her voice was hauntingly beautiful. She was classic country before there was classic country
She was a country artist, but on this album, she was covering some contemporary pop songs and that was broadening her appeal. There is not a bad song on this album.
You hear the blues roots of early country just as you hear it in rock and roll.
Patsy Cline is a subgenre of country called "Nashville Sound." Formulated in the late 1950's and brought to fruition thru the mid-1060's, it is the blending of country and pop. This song was recorded during one of her final sessions. Her producer, Owen Bradley, went way more pop sounding in these sessions than he did in previous ones. Patsy got lost in emotion during these sessions to the point where she would cry on the takes. "Sweet Dreams (Of You)" is one of the songs that happened in.
Early rock and roll had definitely had roots in country. Elvis and Patsy both recorded with the Jordanaires. They had such a specific sound, and it went with both genres. Patsy Cline is in a class by herself, one of the all time greats.
Patsy Cline was one of the first country singers to cross over to pop music. Her voice was phenomenal.
Patsy was on both the Country and Pop charts at the same time. I believe the first to do that
Patsy put more EMOTION in each note than other singers put in their ENTIRE song‼️
Amazing voice and talent, her song 'I Fall To Pieces' was a big hit when I was a youngster.
Patsy was the first designated country artist to cross all genres. The loss of her was devastating, thinking of how much more she could have brought us.
She only a had a career a little over a decade sadly.
When Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were all hanging out at Willie's and Waylon's apartment having jam sessions! Don't you know that was amazing 😊😊
I was raised on country and Patsy was my dad's favorite country singer. When she passed it was the only time I saw my Dad cry. Understand though, we didnt have the variety of genres we do now. Country was known as the genre to break through a proof of success. Had she lived i could see her singing other genres if she liked the song. Patsy was a genre. Linda Ronstadt and Whitney Houston had that same quality. What sets her apart is that she possesses what very few artists have. The ability to see, hear and feel every note, every word. How every note particularly her voice, clarity intermingled with a silkiness that wraps around you. And her high notes and lilts are effortless. Just jaw dropping. ❤❤
There has never been another one like her. Such a beautiful and unique voice.
She's Got You is another song of hers that she does better than anyone else ever could.
That song is my favorite of hers, she does things with her voice in that song that mesmerizes me❤
You really can't put country music in a box. There's a lot of musical diversity in country music
She is in a league of her own. The greatest artists do, and she is one. So glad to hear your appreciation of her.
What a wonderful voice, she died too soon 😢. One of her top songs❤
the amount of music she released in her short time is such a gift to the world
Gone too soon, and truly missed! Such a crystal clear voice and a great range . Patsy was country, but her music crossed onto pop charts. 'Walkin After Midnight' is another of her great songs.
You should listen to Nat King Coles 'Ramblin Rose'.
I have loved Patsy since I was a kid. I'm 55 now.
Clear strong voice. It touches the heart. I always know what she is saying. Thank you for sharing with love.
OMG I'm back in my hometown at the hotel having drinks with friends - yes I was a country girl and she was one of the biggest stars on the jukebox! ♥ RIP girlie!
Patsy was, is, and will always be the Queen of Country. Although we didn't have her long, her incredible voice pierces the soul like no other. She was a favorite of my grandmother's, my mother's and mine. Of course I love the popular songs like Crazy, Sweet Dreams, Walkin' after midnight, She's Got You, ect., but my favorite is Leavin' On Your Mind. If you get a chance watch the movie Sweet Dreams. It came out in the 80's and stars Jessica Lange and Ed Harris. It's a great movie to start learning about Patsy and her career. It's also full of her biggest hits so the soundtrack is great. Hopefully you have a Patsy Cline week where you react to more of her songs! 😁👍
She had so many hits prior to her death. She was taken too soon! She left her mark on the music industry. I was so young when I first saw her sing her songs. She left an impression on me. ❤❤❤❤
My favorite of all of Patsy songs, probably because it was her last. Thank you, my friend, for giving her the accolades she so deserves. ❤
Your assessment of her music sounding like soul...and the sam cooke reference...are so spot on IMO
She is one of my favorite artist's. I love all types of music, from Jelly Roll, to Ozzy Osborne, to Eminem, Dr. Hook, PENTATONIX and many styles of music. My parent's always listen to country and it was the 80's , so I grew up on rock.
Same, I will listen to all those along with Hank, Metallica, Beethoven and Pavarotti and Weird Al in one playlist. Ya gotta mix it up so you don't miss nothing! A lot has happened musically just in the last 50 years. Nobody knows what they don't know. :)
just a beautiful voice...patsy's always been in the country category, but her music fits piano bar style. i love her voice too.
Sweet Dreams is my favorite Patsy Cline song , gorgeous song ❤Btw PC was classic country but a crossover artist as well , most of her songs were also played on pop radio stations
Elvis Presley is my favorite male singer and Patsy Cline is my favorite female singer of all time. Two of the best ever. Imo
Same
Love that warm, analog reverb! One reason this reminds you of something Sam Cooke would sing is, among other reasons, the sound of the era. Sam and Patsy, both had success in the early 60's.
One of the greatest singers, greatest voices all time
Patsy is country and country is the blues. It is the Blues.
Wow have the younger generation missed out on singers like this such a talent and was taken to soon
She has such an angelic voice, I think you right, not your typical country singing, but she is considered one of the pioneers for female country singers. There is a movie called "Sweet Dreams" based on her life, and career, and her death 😢 I'm so happy you dig her music, great reaction! 40!
Nothing better than a late Sunday afternoon, finishing up some work I put off last week, and being treated to my favorite reactor who is giving us PATSY CLINE. She has that ability to put a "cry" in her words, which is so haunting. She is one of the best. I've suggested before, but will keep on until I hear it on the channel, you need to check out Garth Brooks, " If Tomorrow Never Comes," which he wrote for his daughter. Grab a tissue. It will be a song you will never forget ! Also another one you will definitely enjoy is Lee Ann Rimes, " May You Dance." A real moral story in that one. God Bless.
I hope you definitely listen to more of her music! She’s absolutely amazing. Her voice is of an angel!
She is the Best. So glad you found her.
Decades after her tragic death, she still finds new fans. NGL, she's still a special kind of musical magic!
CHILLS!!! EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS BEAUTIFUL TUNE!!! STUNNING!! ENJOY, BP!! ❤❤❤
How can anyone not love Patsy Cline? She was the first woman inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and was best pals with Loretta Lynn, who was crushed when Patsy died in a plane crash at just 30 years old. Interestingly enough, Patsy attributed her magical voice to a near-death experience when she was 13. She had a severe throat infection caused by rheumatic fever, her heart stopped beating momentarily and she was placed in an oxygen tent. "When I recovered, I had this booming voice," she recalled. Patsy recorded Sweet Dreams exactly one month before she died.
I've always loved Patsy - she was such an icon. Any yes, you can play her songs for your daughter - and I'd bet they would inspire her to sing. Two of my favorite songs by Patsy are Faded Love and Imagine That.
Please do more she's awesome❤❤❤❤❤❤
there's a movie made about her life. what a voice.
Patsy is just Patsy. That voice crossed boundaries and genres effortlessly. You should listen to her songs She's Got You and Walkin After Midnight. They'll make you love her even more.
Hauntingly beautiful voice, I'm moved by her music every time I hear it.
Patsy was so soulful. My mom loved her so much that she named me after her.
My favorite female vocaliist of all time ❣️
100% pure classic country. You nailed when you said she's in a league of her own; she really is.
Patsy’s “I fall to pieces” and “walking after midnight” are classic
Patsy's singing gets to me every time.
I was introduced to Patsy by my mom when I was no older than 10 (I'm 46 now) and ever since then she is one of my top 5 artist of all time to listen to. There's probably only a hand full of people that has a voice that is so out of this world and Patsy is one of them. If u get a chance u should listen/react to the song "She's got you", it's one of my favorite songs by Patsy. Commenting on how it was recording back in her time, any artist/singer from those times actually had to be able to sing which is one reason why I loved music, especially country before autotunes because the artist had to actually be able to sing.
there will never be another patsy
What a singer. Everytime I hear her I still am amazed
She had an amazing voice. Thank you for sharing with younger generations.
Patsy Cline was simply one of a kind. She had a voice that once you heard it she just makes you smile. Absolutely a gorgeous voice!
Beautiful and Legendary.
She went to Heaven too soon.
Her and Loretta Lynn were best friends. Traveled performed together.
Loretta Lynn was 9 months pregnant when Patsy Clines aircraft crashed.
RIP Patsy, we still love your music
Miss you, Miss Country Music Queen
Patsy was a brilliant talent. That voice and the phrasing are unstoppable. Such a shame we lost her so young and in such an awful way, but that voice lives on.
The pride of Winchester, Va!! No one like her!!
My mama loved her....mama left this world last year hearing this agaygave me full body chills....felt like mama was atanding here listening to this....thank you...i love your channel ❤
over 50 years and still giving me chills.
She's in my top 5 with Linda Ronstad, Ann Wilson, Whitney Houston and of course at #1 Karen Carpenter
You should watch the movie about her called Sweet Dreams with legendary actress Jessica Lang playing Patsy incredible biopic .🙂
I love this song 🎵.I seen the movie 🍿 on her it was funny but a hurtful feeling.Vonnie ❤❤❤❤
Patsy Cline is a goddess of song. She was taken too soon and can you imagine what she would have done if she lived?? Always a great choice…
She is timeless! Gone too soon! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Her last recorded song. It was released after she died in a plane crash.
Not one singer today has a voice like her.one in a million love patsy
Anyone who can appreciate the absolute haunting beauty of Patsy Cline's voice can get any and all of my support. I grew up on Country music and discovered Patsy Cline when I was like 5 years old. I fell in love immediately and then my mom crushed my entire world by telling me she died in plane crash WAAAAY before I was born lol I was distraught. My first true ounce of grief in this life was for this woman and this all occured like 30 years ago. I still feel that same sting of knowing her light was no longer in the world at such a young age.
I know that sounds sad but that sting is bittersweet and only proves how impactful this person was that at 5 years old I knew instinctively that what I was hearing was pure gold.
Ok hear me all the way out!!! Leanne Rimes did a tribute to Patsy on an awards show. It’s easy to find and it’s in black and white! It’s absolutely gorgeous!!! ❤ you’re welcome ahead of time! 😂
She is simply unmatched! Thank you for your reaction!
My mom actually dated “Don Gibson” (who wrote and originally sang Sweet Dreams) in college some years before his hit records and him being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame! They didn’t date very long so most likely wasn’t my mom…Patsy was sadly killed in an airplane crash early in her career! Incredible voice!
Wow, takes me back to my childhood, I grew up listening to songs like this. You need to hear Reba do this song "live" and
a Cappella! 😊 Please!
Crazy will always be my favorite ❤
"I fall to pieces" and "crazy"(written by Willie Nelson) are great ones from her if you haven't already covered them. She is classic country.
She is the absolute GOLD standard for female country singers - she is whom we also aspired to be back in the day!!! If you could do a decent Patsy song - you had the chops!!!! She is also considered pop by pop artists - she is simply PATSY!!!!!! RIP - we still miss you!!!
"Sweet Dreams" was a country song but the producer did this song a little differently and Patsy was worried that it would turn away her country fans. It was originally written by Don Gibson, who was a huge country star. The song (and album "Faded Love") was released after Patsy died in March of '63 and went to #5 in the charts, I believe. Patsy is, for me, the best country singer ever. As a huge fan, I recommend her cover of "Tennessee Waltz," "Walkin' After Midnight" (her first hit), "Faded Love," "She's Got You," and to end this list for now is "Blue Moon of Kentucky" which is one of my favorites!
The Legendary Patsy Cline is and always will be the Queen of Country Music. And what's even sadder is this song was released after she died in a plane crash. This is my favorite Ms. Patsy song.
She was the BEST! Floyd Cramer (among others) played piano for her and The Jordanaires who later sang with Elvis, were her backup singers. She recorded this in February 1963, just a month before her death.
Greatest female voice all time, any genre
She is another one gone way before her time. She could have done so much more. Beautiful voice and beautiful lady.
Country music is "soul" music. The stories, the hurts, the heartfelt emotions. They are all the same.
I just LOVE HER,GREAT BEAUTIFUL VOICE!! TRUE AMERICAN MUSIC,COMPEL❤GREAT REACTION, ❤😊🇺🇲🇲🇽🇳🇮🗳🙏⚖️💯
I almost think those of us who were born after Patsy's time love her more than those who were around then. But then I realize what a big star she was in her day. Either way, she is definitely one of those few whose talent will keep getting recognition long after most of her peers have faded away.
I sang this song and a couple more of her songs at my hometown's opry house a few years ago. The audience loved her songs and asked me to sing this song twice. I did, and it was so fun!
Patsy, Patsy, Patsy. She is EVERYTHING. 🥰😇
Patsy is just one of those once in a lifetime voices. A true crossover from country to popular.
So beautiful I miss hearing my mother sing Patsy Cline all the time. She was so good. She used to sing at local clubs growing up, and people were amazed how much she sounded like Patsy.
