I did purchase one recently and can say you cannot just drop all bullets in at the top. With a 6.5 PRC and high BC bullets it's a feed from the bottom or they often fall wrong and are out of alignment. It still does a good job, and the window helps in seeing that the bullet aligns in the seater. I would recommend and buy again. I did want to say that you can't just drop anything in and expect it to align perfectly. I am satisfied thus far but I am not saying that I won't replace it with a competition seating die at some time later.
@@SquatchReloaded hey thank you for continuing on with your content. You’re at the top of my list out of the 20+ reloading channels I’m subscribed to and definitely one of the first i mention to others getting into all this
Very nice showcase. I am just getting fully back into reloading for accuracy. The number of choices out there are staggering! It is nice to check out videos like these to help chip away those choices and help me to decide which dies are the best fit for my application. Thanks!!!
RCBS offers a micrometer seater with this bullet drop in system as well. This thing is cool but honestly I've become a fan of the micrometer seater's with the case support. Forster and redding are my two favorites.
This is the first of your videos I’ve watched. And I love it. Definitely subbed to the channel and looking forward to watching more of your content. Just got into reloading with a buddy and we are hooked. Thanks for the straight forward honest review.
Great overview, I decided not to review this one as it does not work with the RCBS Summit Press. Which honestly is why I purchased it, The Summit is a very tight tolerance press and the thought was with this die produce rounds with even less runout. The dial is so fat it will not fit between the press linkage.
@@Greryman I can go out and take a picture if you would like. The knob up top that you use to dial in depth is to large for the cutout of the summit press.
Thanks ..As far as Universal Dies..I think that for some people it has a place in reloading..Budget Minded or people with not enough extra money... The only Universal Die I've found that works in my world is the LEE Universal De-capping Die. I just dont think a Universal Seating Dike is for me.. I am too picky and meticulous about anything I do... Damn near OCD...LOL It was a great video and comparison.I liked it. I appreciate all the time and explanations in your videos.Thank You.
Excellent comparison with 60 seated bullets! Universal so a good choice for a reloader who loads for many different bullet diameters. For ideal precision a seating die should have several qualities: 1) concentricity of seated bullet, 2) accuracy and consistency of seating depth, 3) seating stems available to fits different bullet ogive shape, 4) ideally seats with measured pressure. The LE Wilson die with an arbor press is one such die, but the disadvantage is time and cost ($204 for Arbor Press, $130 for micrometer bullet seater). The Frankford Arsenal Universal Seating die is surprisingly inexpensive at $64 on Amazon. Concentricity is one concern...it would be helpful to compare bullet runout compared with a more expensive die such as the Redding Competition Seating Die ($121 on Amazon). A seating die should last a lifetime, so from that perspective perhaps the Redding Competition Seating Die might be a better investment if the hand loader loads for 1 specific cartridge and is loading for precision.
Good review. I have got most all my stuff set up on caliber specific micro seaters on multiple Dillon Toolheads. I do have a couple of rifles that I don't have micro seaters for, and this might be worth a try. After all it can be purchased cheaper than a caliber specific micro seater die. Frankford does make some great stuff and some cheap not so stuff, but this looks like it falls in the great stuff category. I have their auto powder measure and their large wet case tumbler as well as their case trimmer that all fall in the great stuff they make. But we have to be real in reloading all companies have good and bad stuff with rare exception.
Great video like most people I'm pretty skeptical about things that claim to be universal that tends to mean they can do a lot but they suck at all of it. Might be picking one of these up.
Bought this die and wanted to let everyone know an issue if you plan on loading 300 blackout. Due to the short case you will have to use the 224 seating stem in order to get the bullets into the brass. This is going to cause some marking (ring) around the bullet if that concerns you. Also if you are using long bullets like 220 grainers the seating stem may block the loading window and force you to load bullets as if you were using a conventional die. Again it will still work but I feel like most people are going to want to use the loading window.
Squatch, great videos on reloading!! I got a FrankfordArsenal Univ Seat Die set and have a question. I am loading 6ARC with 107 gr Sierra bullets but when I drop the bullet in the top opening, the bullet falls over to the side of the collet. Its outside of the VLD seat stem then and will not seat. I have to reach into the opening with a straw to get it straight enough to have the VLD seating stem pick it up and seat the bullet. I've had to set the bullet on top of the cartridge and guide it up to the seat die like a regular die. I've tryed calling FA but no one answers the phone. Any suggestions?? Thanks for your help.
I have this universal seating die. When I use the .264 collet. The medium rod keeps getting stuck after you seat the bullet. Any suggestions I had to use the long one so it wouldn't keep getting stuck
Nicely done review would have liked to see what consistency of the depth and the runout accuracy say compared with a Forster seating die and Hornady die. Do they stock different seating stems for different bullet ogives?
Does this die support the case or neck in anyway? I'm interested in this die because l load many different types on heads in my 223 and have to change seating depth quite often and that is a pain, l have all my OJ setting for the heads that l'm using this would be a great help being able to set micrometer for each head and be with in .001 to .003 l can live with that, as for run out with the RCBS that l'm using now l get .001 to .004. but setting the depth is trial and error until you get it. l have to watch videos.
I did try it on my XL750 and it will clear the powder bar. I did have to put the lock ring on the bottom of the tool head. I like it but I dont know if I like it better than the standard Dillon seater die.
I've been looking for a wrench that can fit in between dies on a crowded turret press. What is the adjustable wrench you've got hanging up there? Does it fit well in between the dies?

Outstanding, best review of this product I’ve seen. Straight forward, simple, honest, and you didn’t video the whole 60 getting loaded, thank you!
Thank you

I have several Redding seaters and agree. I looked at the RCBS die and It looks to be the same. The FA die is a good value and works really well.

Gonna try this with vld style bullets in my Bergara 7mm Rem Mag and my RPR 338 Lapua Mag.

I don’t think they have anything other than the universal seating stems.
Will it work for long cartridges too? Also did you measure the concentricity between each die?
What brand shell holder do you use with the Univ. Seating Die?
Great video and review. Thanks :)
Yup got it ordered the standard Does that have the sealed O-ring cap top too .?
Yes sir
Looks like cool idea . How dose it run price wise. I'll have to see
Looks great mate but not available in Australia I would have too import one from the US , what is the cost in US $$ Thanks Steve from Australia.
The run on average about 65 dollars

hi there I remember you had a link to get the glass powder hopper for Dillion 750 . can't find it now do you mind sharing that link? thanks

Does the universal do 300 win mag
All the way to 338
Hmmmm... I'll have to talk to ya about this die.
👍👍
and it has a micrometer
Just wondering if anyone has tried this on a progressive press?
I did try it on my XL750 and it will clear the powder bar. I did have to put the lock ring on the bottom of the tool head. I like it but I dont know if I like it better than the standard Dillon seater die.
