I love love love Pema. She is amazing. I'm a Christian and I do not see any conflict with my faith and Buddhism. What she is talking about here reminds me of a Proverb's 27 quote, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." I listen to Pema all the time, she is simply the best !!!

...seeing the value of what 'these people' are showing me about myself - I needed the reminder of that today when feeling so sorry for myself because I suffered a 'great injustice' with no opportunity for redress or justification. I 'chewed on it' for the whole day... thank you Pema

    so true
its like when I am in a large group, I now know to pay attention to the person I find most distasteful, that I want to avoid the most, cause I now know the thing I don't like seeing in them is likely the same thing I am avoiding facing inside of me
love Pema, love how she shares her wisdom with such good humor, she is so cool in so many ways

Thank you, dear Pema Chodron, for this. I'm a teacher going through an episode of having to deal with a terribly annoying and ungrateful student, and this short message came at the right time to remind me that this student is in fact one of my best teachers. The awareness of this episode being a lesson is there, but the detachment from the ego is a tall order. Anyway, thank you, Teacher Pema. 🍑🍑🍑

I watch this video and 6 things arise in me:
    1) how to escape from pain in the body?
I get cramps that debilitate and paralyze me.
    what to do?
    is there a metaphysical explanation?
    2) I love someone
who I don't believe loves me back...
this, sadly, has been the story of my entire life.
the pain is so awful, it's soul-crushing.
    3) rage. I have so much fucking rage in me.
I am constantly flooded with memories that rape me,
    and fill me with rage.
    4) grief: 999 trillion layers of grief in me.
    there's no escape.
    5) sometimes I look in the mirror and I am in love with what I see.
    other times, I am disgusted.
I am old, ugly, fat, frumpty-dumpty.
    6) I am so very very very ashamed at the state of my life...

thank you, at last I understand the words and actions of my first Tibetan teacher, Phakchok Rinpoche, sometimes it seemed that he asked a kind of questions in a kind of situations that would make me feel so stupid as I only can

pema is an amazing human being. scratch that - i think she may be an angel. and she speaks so directly and accessibly that its almost odd - that she is draped in mink's robes, she could be a sister or friend. that is her magic.

A lot of people find me obnoxious, so if anybody wants to pay me to be around them as a spiritual teacher I'd be glad to hear from them.
As a foot note most 'spiritual' people I've met are incredibly superficial about their beliefs. The only exception to that was a buddhist nun I met a few years ago - nearly everybody else seemed to be remarkably selfish. I've spoken my piece.
