    • @BiPolarBear223
      @BiPolarBear223 Місяць тому +4

      @@boofinintheboysroom although logically both methods are kind of the same. I feel the rap lyrics idea feels more creative to me. The drum method still has to come from your head. Recently I have been having writers block when it comes to unique rhythm patterns, just stuck in old patterns that I've been doing for years, so finding new patterns from outside your self from different genres really opens my mind to new possibilities. Plus you still have drums to add to it later which add an extra layer of complexity and possibly create a new feeling entirely. Great idea, I will be trying this ASAP.

    • @boofinintheboysroom
      @boofinintheboysroom  Місяць тому +2

      @@BiPolarBear223 yeah 100% I agree! The draw back of writing drums first for me (albeit super nuanced) is that following the drums with the guitar locks in the guitar to the drums and I feel like there is less room to branch out with the drums vs writing a guitar riff first you can mess around with drums and have them deviate from the guitar to give the track some room to breath…totally personal preference but I know exactly what you mean

    the audio messing up went hard, great vid 😭

  • @Zioau
    @Zioau Місяць тому +2

    the little ticks you hear in your audio may be due to your audio buffer size, too many plugins or anything really, too much to handle…
    it you have a focusrite, you can increase the buffer size in the focusrite settings or whatever (grey icon one, you may have to click it twice to open). increasing your audio buffer does increase delay between your playing and the audio you hear back, though its not significant enough at a lower buffer size

    • @boofinintheboysroom
      @boofinintheboysroom  Місяць тому

      Yeah I do have a focusrite, that’s a good recommendation thank you! I currently have it set at 192 and I drop the frame rate on OBS so it records in 25 instead of 29.97. There’s a setting under “macros” in fl that disables all plugins not actively being used and I may have forgot to turn that off. Honestly I think my computer is just not equipped for video and music production haha it’s the first thing on my “to buy” list. Thanks for the tips man!

    I've zero interest in thinking about a rap song (that already exists-with someone else's lyrics) while playing my songs. That being said, it can be something to get you to where you don't need it anymore, I suppose. Hell, I've gotten ideas from listening to people talk up in the front seat, or raindrops falling off the spouting. So I'm not criticizing. Music is happening everywhere, all the time.

    Even though I primarily listen to metal music, I do not really feel like I even understand what you are talking about in this video. The example songs included between clips of you talking mostly just sound like you're strumming a single note/power chord over and over. It does not seem very complex, and I personally find this rather grating to listen to. Hence, I cam only assume this methodology only applies to a narrow style of metal music.

    • @boofinintheboysroom
      @boofinintheboysroom  Місяць тому

      It’s not technically complex, I have other “technically” complex songs but this is more about writing complex rhythms and patterns which is the basis for a lot of the metal I enjoy and try to emulate (see; Frontierer, Ion Dissonance). It’s on the more extreme spectrum of “metal” maybe better described as “math metal” or “djent”. I appreciate the comment though! Check out my newest video on atmosphere, it may be more suited to the type of music you like!
